Lucid Club Night
Lucid is terug!

Lucid Club Night

Smallpeople (Ger, Smallville Records)
Diversity between deep house, Detroit Techno and some Chicago flavours- but always within the balance of atmospheric warmth and club suitability.

Conforce (Nl, Clone, Rush Hour)
Starting out with a black cassette tape, filled with early acid and techno, his love for music grew bigger and bigger. Inspired by Detroit techno, his tunes range from sublime and moody to dubbed out and distraught.

About 6 months ago we started working on a Hardcell & Grindvik reunion show. Today, this show became an exclusive 2014 live tour and we are happy to announce Hertz will be the second stop after the official kickoff at Berghain / Panorama Bar. H&G established themselves in the early 2000s. Adam Beyer was one of the early ones to recognise the duo and signed them on to his infamous Drumcode label. Every techno fanatic who has ever been to Hertz knows their hit Square has become an absolute Hertz anthem over the past 3 years.

Skreamizm
Skreamizmlondon.com : The Skreamizm night will take a back-to-basics approach: a dark room, a massive soundsystem, an extended set, and a focus firmly on the music. Rather than staying in one place, Skream explains, they'll find him taking the crowd on a tour through the music he loves.
"It'll be everything I want everyone to like," he smiles. "It's all about people going out, actually zoning in, and actually becoming at one with the music."

CRESST invites ZARDONIC, MAZTEK, ...

DOM & ROLAND (UK) (Dom&Roland Productions, Moving Shadow)
Zware mannen in aantocht!

ZARDONIC (VE) (Human Imprint, Freak)

MAZTEK (IT) (Renegade Hardware, Subculture, Contaminated)

NEONLIGHT (GER) (Bad Taste, Red light)

In de All Belgian Room spelen WASP, SPEEDWAGON, EXISTH, TESLA, RULO,
THE NITWITS, PUKAZ, AIR CAV, DOUBLE:MAYHEM
en MR. ORANGE.

HERTZ: Darren Price, Eric Sneo, Paul Langley, ...
Enter 2012!

Darren Price (UK)
Which venue would bring him the best underground oldschool techno vibe...?

Eric Sneo (Ger, live)
Man achter Ciao Bella en The End (ft Tube Tech).

Aphid Noise
Old schoolish techno!

Mason, Tony Senghore, Polydor, Michael Hime, Socrates

Freaky Age, Mint, Cole Park, Radio Slave, James Teej
Met Where Do We Go Now had Freaky Age een paar jaar geleden meteen een hit te pakken. Opgenomen in Londen en gemasterd door de knoppenman van The Smiths, New Order en Arcade Fire. Enkele weken voordien speelt Freaky Age op South By Southwest Festival, 's werelds grootste showcasefestival. Excitement in the morning light!

1 ticket!

Rekids

Releaset op Rekids, Rebirth Records, TicTacToe & Connect Four Records, No.19 Music en My Favorite Robot Records.

Mr Jones

Mr Jones
Jonas Uittenbosch aka Mr Jones is an amazing talented techno DJ/producer who stepped in the game late 2010.

"You just simply cannot develop your own sound in a few months and expect miracles to happen. After getting the hang of the technique you will first sound like anyone else, especially with pre-fabricated soundlibries all over the net. I needed to make my own libary, as you need to stand out more than ever."

At the Amsterdam Dance Event's Demolition Panel, he instantly got noticed by techno veteran Dave Clarke who gives Jones his first airplay on a radioshow. For six months straight, Jones provides Dave Clark's Radio show with a brand new track every week, making him the techno artist with the most airplay on Dutch National Radio at the time, while still being unsigned! Rumours even started spreading on Twitter saying that Mr Jones is an alias of Dave Clarke himself. But it's all coming from this one kid from Haarlem, Jonas Uittenbosch (Mr Jones).

After a while the labels started coming for Jones. He starts to release on The Public Stand, HeavyReel, Afro Acid and artists like BLACKASTEROID, Audio Injection and Ben Sims want to remix his music. Then it gets quiet, no updates, no new material on Soundcloud. It turns out it's that same Dave Clarke who is responsible for the dry spell. Mr. Jones got an invite to come down to his new studio in Amsterdam. The Baron and Jones bond easily and the two form a new production unit "Unsubscribe". It's a remix project at first, reworking music from BLACKASTEROID, Detroit's Octave One, Maelstrom, Phil Kieran, Boys Noize, the legendary John Foxx (Ultravox) and many more. Dave Clarke even states in the press that Jones brought him back the joy of being in the studio again. Their first original single was done soon after, called Spek Hondje (featuring Chicago MC Bear Who), released on Fabric London's offspring label Houndstooth.

Shortly after, festival and club programmers take notice of Jones and he earns himself spots at Awakenings Festival, Mysteryland, Fabrik, Perron, Napoli and The Melkweg during ADE.

Even Holland's biggest selling hip hop act "De Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig", ask Jones to remix the first single of their new album "De Formule", giving him only four days to complete it. Jones doesn't crack under pressure and delivers, yet again.

Conforce

Conforce
At an early age, Conforce's father gave him a black tape cassette, filled with early acid and techno. From that moment, his love for this kind of music only grew bigger and bigger. Years later, he met and became friends with like-minded individuals Mohlao and Delta Funktionen, who would play an important instrumental role in his exploration of music production.

His Detroit inspired techno ranges from sublime and moody through to dubbed out and distraught. Through his alter ego's 'Versalife and Vernon Felicity, he explores different sides of his creativity. Conforce released on labels like Clone Records, Other Heights and Rush Hour Recordings.

Kafim

Kafim
Kafim's relationship with music started at a very young age with piano lessons and at the age of nine he joined children's choirs. For the next 5 years he would be concerned solely with classical music. Although there will always be a place for classical music in his heart Kafim soon hooked up with lady Electronic and it became his life-long love. Starting originally with Drum'n'Bass.

Kafim has traversed a range of genres and now predominantly plays only the finest of techno. He began to play gigs in Brussels in 2009. Since then he has become the techno resident of Deep in House. With DIH Kafim has played alongside the likes of Recondite, Monoloc, Milton Bradley, Bleak, Zadig, Marcelus at venues such as Fuse, Bazaar, Opus, Exit 54 to name a few.

Mike Huckaby

Mike Huckaby
Mike Huckaby is a dance music purist extraordinaire. Being an integral part of the Detroit dance scene, he was the man behind the legendary Record Time store and as such gathered an encyclopedic knowledge of music. Mike is one of those rare guys who know all the roots and culture of electronic dance music, who see beyond the hype and divisions in the scene and know exactly what this music is.

He is the kind of purist whose love for music has literally had him flown around the globe. Huckaby also produced for labels like Rick Wade's renowned Harmonie Park outfit, London's Cross Section or his own ventures Deep Transportation resp. Synth.

Apart from his activities as a DJ and producer, he also works as a sound designer and a tutor for the software company Native Instruments, and Ableton teaching Reaktor and Live around the world, as well as for a special Detroit youth foundation project called "YouthVille".

Smallpeople

Smallpeople
Smallpeople runs the Smallville Record Store and - Label, located in Hamburg St. Pauli since 2006. Like the recordstore, DJ-Sets of Smallpeople are focused on a wider range of music and can be diverse- between Deep House, Detroit Techno and some Chicago flavours- but always within the balance of atmospheric warmth and club suitability.

Smallpeople released on Labels like Underground Quality, Laid and of course their homebase Smallville Records.

Désir

Désir
An Antwerp based Techno DJ who started out as a the DnB/Jungle minded dj-duo Mofe Crew and through musical and personal evolution he focused more on Techno & allied genres.

He's been spinning records for about 8 years now (started out in 2005), preferring vinyl above all else and is a well-known Antwerp promotor of Anthem Festival, Dnb op 't plein and Rollout.

His musical heroes are: Octave One, Petar Dundov, Gregor Tresher, Steve Rachmad (aka sterac/parallel 9), Sven weisemann, Marko Fürstenberg, Marcel dettman, Delta Funktionen, Marcel Fengler, Aril Brikha, Sasha, Audio Injection, Microtrauma, Marko Zenker, Zadig, Stephen brown, Mark reeve, Inigo Kennedy, ø phase, funk d'void, Robert Hood, Yan Cook, Bleak, Mark Broom, Jonas Kopp...

Ansome

Ansome
For a newly emergent producer, Ansome's sound is hugely confident. Inspired by a raw and urban UK techno lineage, his drums are heavyweight, his percussion fierce and his synths full blooded. All in all that makes for music that grabs your attention and drags you along for an enthralling ride. Littered with his own field recordings, it can be variously eerie or boisterous, but its uncompromising stuff of the sort anyone from Perc to Karenn would be proud.

With some vinyl releases lined-up for early 2014 and a fully live analogue show also in the works, Ansome also keeps busy by running his own label. Disco's Dead releases organic experimental bass and techno sounds from artists like Circula, Chubba and Pulsecode that nod to old school genres like jungle at the same time as facing firmly forwards.

J.Tijn

J.Tijn

"High-intensity techno workouts from J. Tijn on Untold's Pennyroyal label. Following the course of his 'Jack 2' 12" he leaves no prisoners with an aggressive A-side pounding backed by one kinkier swinger and a brutal, Belgian-sounding stomper.", aldus Boomkat over Squirtle Squad.

Enkele maanden nadien verscheen Flat, EP nummer drie.

Gary Beck

Gary Beck
Gary Beck is regarded as one of the most prolific and inventive producers in the current electronic music scene. Renowned for his own unique sound, Gary is currently in high demand all over the world , playing at some of the most respected clubs and Festivals.

After spending previous years releasing on labels such as Drumcode, Saved and Cocoon, he now concentrates fully on his own label BEK Audio. With a back catalogue of artists such as Mr. G, Dj Rush, Mark Broom & Speedy J, BEK has developed into one of the strongest Techno labels around.

Following the release of his well-received album 'Bring A Friend' on Soma Records , 2013 has seen some of Gary's best releases to date, including the massive 'Video Siren'.

With a successful Boiler room set and a BBC Radio 1 essential mix under his belt, Gary's popularity continues to go from strength to strength.

DVS1

DVS1
Zak aka DVS1(devious one), is one of the most prominent figures in the Midwest/US dance music landscape today. A local DJ favorite since the mid nineties, DVS1 continues to move floors with a combination of deep musical knowledge, unparalleled enthusiasm, and a vinyl collection of more than 10,000 records. Zak's deep roots and his bold and uncompromising nature have won him great respect as a passionate and outspoken defender and promoter (HUSH) of quality music.

Zak began DJing in New York in the early nineties, focusing on the acid sounds of that time. After relocating to Minneapolis in the mid 90's, his style evolved, like that of techno itself, into something more complex, something deeper and more rhythmic. Since then, he has branched out into a wide variety of sounds%u2014from hard and fast, to deep and hypnotic, to slow and soulful. Rather than giving limiting names to the genres he plays, he describes the music as beats, rhythms, textures, and colors. His philosophy is that the genre distinctions themselves aren't important%u2014the emotional content of the music is. This focus is readily apparent in the way he moves crowds%u2014both literally and figuratively%u2014by fusing together sounds that paint coherent, evocative, and powerful moods that are always appropriate for the time and place he is playing.

His range and emotional focus explains why as a DJ, Zak has garnered unique respect locally, around the U.S., and now worldwide. A consummate performer, Zak never maps out his sets ahead of time, opting to craft sets spontaneously from within the context they are intended for. He does this the old-fashioned way%u2014with bags of wax carefully assembled from his massive record collection. This improvisational element makes each of his sets a one-of-a-kind personal expression, never again to be repeated, in which the audience's mood and energy level always plays a notable role. Unsurprisingly, DVS1's sets tend to draw large and enthusiastic crowds. In the past, he has shared the booth and been asked to open for some of the world's most acclaimed DJ/Producers.

As a producer, DVS1 makes music that is simple, effective and captures the feeling of the moment. DVS1's first release, on Ben Klocks label Klockworks (kw05) was released in August 2009 and was immediately charted by heavy weights such as Derrick May, Samuel Sessions, Luke Slater, James Ruskin, Stephan Goldman, Funktion, Dj Deep, Tommy Four Seven, Tamo Sumo, Martin Landsky, Efdemin, Dustin Zahn, Dario Zenker, Ryan Elliot, Insideout, Jonass Kopp, Par Grindvik, Marcel Fengler, Kevin Gormann, Tobi Neumann, Monika Kruse, Dos Santos, Kevin Saunderson, Mike Shannon, Ben Klock, Rejected, Camea.

With his second vinyl release on the legendary TRANSMAT label(MS98 Love Under Pressure EP) DVS1 once again stakes his claim and cements his position among current electronic music tastemakers. Similar to his first release, Love Under Pressure has been received with equal acclaim and charting from his peers. The track "Pressure" was licensed to the infamous Berghain club for Ben Klocks most recent mix CD (Berghain 04).

Future releases are already scheduled for Luke Slater (Mote Evolver) and for Klockworks. Remixes on Perc Trax, Prologue, Synewave and more on the way.

Joel Mull

Joel Mull
Joel Mull is a rare breed amongst electronic music producers. Classically trained on the piano from a young age, Joel's musical understanding goes beyond the traditional primal dancefloor dynamics often associated with techno. Having been bitten by the techno bug before he left school, his career in music began in 1993, and has been moving upwards ever-since, projecting his soulful slant on the techno blueprint and in the process providing the more musical, emotive ying to the colder, percussive yang of traditional techno. As such Joel occupies a special place within the scene, respected for not just his forward-thinking musical output and long, winding sets of deep and melodic tones but also for being a hard-working professional who has spent his time well, progressively working his way up the techno ladder with a consistent, clearly defined musical style.

When detailing Joel Mull's production career it's almost easier to name the labels that he is yet to appear on than to list the magnitude of seminal labels that have come calling for his work. Brief highlights include Harthouse (who released Joel's most recent album 'The Observer', Superstition, Turbo, Music Man, Cocoon, Drumcode, EC Records, Audiomatique, Liebe*Detail, Jericho and Saved Records. This variety of labels says everything about the versatility of Joel's approach to making music and his ability to balance sounds from across the spectrum with heavy-duty rhythms, chords, and melody.

A product of the small but highly productive scene that has grown up in Stockholm, it comes as no surprise that Joel's discography is heavy on associations with other key players in the creation of the distinctive Swedish techno sound such as Adam Beyer, Jesper Dahlback and Cari Lekebusch. 2010 will see Joel appear on Dahlback newly launched International Sound Laboratory label, remixing Cari Lekebusch's 'Cold Blood' while there will be follow ups to 2009's Forming Dies and Passing Through singles on Beyer's Drumcode and Truesoul labels including the release of Joel's third artist album.

As a DJ, Joel brings the same qualities he has exhibited in his studio work to the live arena. Comfortably combining music from across a range, Joel is a dynamic and interactive DJ who blends rolling basslines, harmonic synths, and energetic percussions to craft an infectious and atmospheric sound. Regularly touching down across Europe, Asia, Australia and North and South America, Joel enjoys a worldwide fan base. Most at home when building the marathon sets that allow him to explore the range of his musical inspiration, the Joel Mull sound has become a key part of the Drumcode events at which Joel enjoys a privileged residency and regularly plays back-to-back with Adam Beyer.

Making music for me is mainly experimenting and just having fun. Doing that without the boundaries of a certain genre is even more fun. That's what this page is for: Deeper songs and experiments, nothing to serious. The purpose of this content is to share some of my tunes that never leave the hard drive anyway :)

Jackmaster

Jackmaster

Ego Troopers

Ego Troopers
Mozes & Olliver, twee blitse tieners, vormen samen Ego Troopers.

Isolée is a minimalist house producer whose music is reminisent of indie electronic pop music of the early eighties and ambient techno from a decade on. Isolée is credited with creating the very first microhouse record to reach the club charts. Isolée's 2000 release "Rest" was arguably the first microhouse full-length album.

Rajko Müller was born in Frankfurt, Germany but lived with his family in Algeria at the age of 7 to 12 and went to a French primary school. Around this time his parents bought an organ for Christmas and he tried to do some synth-pop with a school friend. They decided to buy a synthesizer and a drumcomputer. Rajko grew tired of synth-pop and EBM in the end of the eighties and listened more to rock music and independent music. Müller's friends made him discover house music, hip-hop and techno in the early nineties and Müller began a second attempt to record electronic music again. Müller gave a tape to his friend and DJ Andreas Baumecker, owner of Freundinnen records, who worked in a record-store where the members of Playhouse Records used to work - starting off his career.

Soman

Soman
Soman is an TBM/noise act from Dresden, Germany, formed in 2003 and headed by Kolja Trelle. Kolja has his musical roots in the rave music of the 90s and got into the industrial scene as a sound engineer for bands, such as Absurd Minds, Hocico and Terminal Choice, as remixing songs for many other bands.
Soman has its very own unique sound mixture of Noise, Electro and Techno, more often described as 'Industrial For Clubs'
Since his debut album 'Sound Pressure' in 2003, Soman has released several EPs and 2 more albums, the latest one, 'Noistyle' in 2010.

SAM

SAM
Founded by the highly explosive German duo Joel Meyer and Daniel Meyer, the industrial-project "SAM" released their first output "Demo Lition" in 2004. Directly afterwards they got signed by ProNoize, one of the most popular labels for industrial music. In 2006 ProNoize released SAM's debut album "Synthetic Adrenaline Music", including the clubhit "24 Stunden", which promptly entered the German Alternative Charts (DAC) as well as several other German and international charts.

Motivated by this achievement SAM started working on their successful second album "Destruction Unit" in 2008. Meanwhile they established their reputation as an excellent live-act. Their uncompromising and powerful live performance provided them many shows both in Germany and abroad. In addition they supported giants of the electro scene like Combichrist, Agonoize or [:SITD:], and also played on known festivals like the Wave Gotik Treffen and the Canadian Kinetik Festival.

No doubt, SAM have become an industrial-/electro-reference, that shouldn't be missing in any DJ case or at any ride with over 130 MPH on the freeway.

In 2010, the long awaited third album "Brainwasher" was released as a limited digipack, containing 13 mindblowing tracks including the hit-single "Bull Fucking Shit".

The sound has noticeable developed and progressed. Now it rolls unstoppable like a steamroller, crushing everything on it's way. Groovy basslines, screaming synths, intelligent sampling and bloodcurling drumbeats have been and always will be the trademark of SAM.

Basic Soul Unit

Basic Soul Unit
Born in Hong Kong and raised in Canada, Stuart Li 's interest in club music started as a teenager in the late 80's listening to Toronto's independent college radio stations (House, Hip Hop, Electro, RnB, Freestyle and even Reggae and Soca could usually be heard on the same show).

As with his Djing style, Stuart's productions can swing from lush and soulful melodic techno to jacking beats or smokey deep house (with hints of above aforementioned influences). He has released music on respected labels such as Dolly, Philpot, Mathematics, Mule Electronic, Versatile, Ostgut Ton, New Kanada, and Creme Organization. Basic Soul Unit has been getting played and charted across a spectrum of music enthusiasts from deep house heads and techno aficionados. I'm Jonas Lion (like on my passport / pronounced the french way). I've been DJing for a few years now but only started outing myself as one recently. Variation and smooth combination between dubstep, house, techno, garage, hip-hop and reggae is rather my habit than the exception.

Now I'm part of the Level.01 crew, a new party concept and record label seeking to push new future bass music.

Some of my previous gigs: Berlin, Vienna, Helsinki, Amsterdam, London, Tomorrowland, etc.

Thank you all for the support so far, I can't be grateful enough.

Rizti Lee

Rizti Lee
A statement... If you try hard enough, eventually you will succeed! These hopeful words are addressed to those who give everything they have got to accomplish something they aim for. One that matches the description of the DJ whose biography you are reading. The way of the iron will.

Ritzi's style of spinning and choice of records has a wide range. He likes to play funky techno but he has no problem whatsoever with putting the needle on deep, harsh and dark records. Whether he is scheduled as opener, primetime or closer of the night makes no difference either, his versatility makes him as complete as they come. Fluently mixing downtempo records or rocking the working tools that only work when handled by a DJ with turntable skills makes no difference to Ritzi, he loves it all just the same.

Radioactive Man

Radioactive Man
Radioactive Man is Keith Tenniswood, a producer, musician and DJ known mainly for his partnership with Andrew Weatherall in The Two Lone Swordsman - but now is mainly focused on his solo work as Radioactive Man and production partnership with Billy Nasty as RadioNasty.

From his experiences coming from his home town of Weybridge through to raves in and around London as electronic music was kicking off in his teenage years, he soon became part of this happening from his meeting of Andrew Weatherall in the Sabres of Paradise Days. This started off Keith's sonic deployment in the studio for Sabres and work with David Holmes, Beth Orton, The Aloof, Red Snapper and Primal Scream.

As the Sabres disbanded Tenniswood joined up with Weatherall and formed Two Lone Swordsmen, a band who still have a firm hold on the heart strings of a generation and a time in electronic music, the album Tiny Reminders now has a 'classic album' status, with its raw machine funk and the depth of bass and soul that Keith has made his specialty.

His first album as Radioactive Man was self titled, released on Weatherall's Rotters Golf Club label in 2001, his first solo long player from years in the studio had finally come together and the track that every artist has, and is always known the most for, 'Uranium'. He shows he's not only able to make bangers but truly emotional and soul stirring music. He then quickly went on to become one of the first artists to contribute to fabric's revered mix series.

The second Album, 'Booby Trap', is most definitely 'a bit of a banger' (his own words). What soon became apparent is that Keith knows no genre, every track is distinct from the other but is always distinctly him.

Come 2004, Two Lone Swordsmen's Double Gone Chapel album released on Warp had shocked some from industry to fans from moving from electronica to both Weatherall and Tenniswood's original inspirations dub and rock n roll. It was a new era for the partnership Keith on bass and guitar, Andrew on vocals and processed through the Two Lone Swordsman studio came the second phase of TLS. Things then went quiet for TLS as both ventured into other projects, Keith decided to work with Christopher D. Ashley playing guitar in his live band on the back of his 'Cruel Romantics' album for Sunday Best and the ensuing tour.

His third solo album 'Growl' was released by Control Tower with the help of fabric and was followed by fresh collaborations with numerous friends and releases on Paul Blackford's pure and resilient electro label Militant Science and Richard Wigglesworth's Tudor Beats, a place for Wigglesworth's explorative analogue acid output - both labels dedicated to two distinct niche sounds of underground electronics. Not to forget his project RadioNasty with Billy Nasty is gaining momentum making up the first release on fabric resident Craig Richards The Nothing Special imprint with more material being set up for release on Billy's soon to be re-launched, formerly acclaimed labels Electrix and Tortured.

It's taken longer than desired but 4 years since Growl he's ready to release the next Radioactive Man album 'Waits and Measures' out on WANG Trax this summer. It follows two vinyl EPs that instantaneously sold out to the distributor and re-claiming his status as one of the original UK machine funk specialists.

DMX Krew

DMX Krew
DMX Krew, also known as EDMX is the recording name of Ed Upton. He has released 6 full albums on Aphex Twin's label Rephlex Records, one full album on Legowelt's Strange Life Records, and numerous singles/EP's for both Rephlex, his own Breakin Records, and various other. DMX Krew's sound spans several electronic music genres but had mostly been rooted in early electro-pop/breakdance type music. The release of The Collapse of the Wave Function EPs are geared toward a different more experimental direction. In 2005 Ed Upton up and coming artist camp cassidy koept threw their weight into a very different sound.

Luke Vibert

Luke Vibert
Possibly the most original of the neo-ambient trip-hoppers was Luke Vibert, also known as Wagon Christ, a protagonist of the British scene since the early 1990s.
Luke Vibert devoted his project Wagon Christ to the ambient side of the trip-hop equation with Phat Lab Nightmare (1994) and especially with the celestial trance of Throbbing Pouch (1995), exuding abandon and fatalism. Massive sampling of orchestral sounds gave Tally Ho! (1998) an almost symphonic grandeur.

In 1994 Vibert's talent was featured on a series of recordings: the EP Sunset Boulevard (Rising High, 1994), the album Phat Lab Nightmare (Rising High, 1994), with the ever more psychological Mahadelic and Aerhaart, and the EP At Atmos (Rising High, 1994), that moved towards a more percussive approach with the likes of Inside Out and Hasjit. These recordings were influential in redefining the standard for ambient rave music.

Like many of his contemporaries, Vibert has released under a wide number of aliases, including Amen Andrews, Spac Hand Luke, Plug, Kerrier District and The Ace of Clubs, as well as the aforementioned Wagon Christ.

Paul Damage

Paul Damage
Born in 1971 in the North of England, Paul began his career as a self-taught hip-hop DJ in the late 80's. While studying at the university of Birmingham in the early 1990's he found his musical direction moving increasingly towards the more contemporary techno sound. Finding at this time that there were few outlets for such forward thinking music, he started his own club night to showcase these sounds. This is where he came to meet the like-minded individuals who would later form the infamous "House of God" techno club.

The House of God celebrated its 10th birthday in 2003. Paul is one of the original resident DJs, his highly individual, hip-hop influenced style having gained him a loyal following.

Fellow House of God residents include Sir Real (Round records/ Kracktronik) and Surgeon (Dynamic Tension / Counterbalance). To this day the same DJs still pack the most demanding dance floors in the country and have made the House of God one of the most respected underground nights in the UK.

Managing to stay ahead of the game for over 10 years in such a critical residency, not to mention a busy schedule at numerous clubs both in the UK and overseas is testament to Paul's creative and technical skills. In addition to his DJ activities, Paul is an established producer and co-founder of the House of God's record label, HOG records, (started in 1997). He also records under his real name, Paul Bailey, on his own critically acclaimed 1881 records imprint.

Miss Djax

Miss Djax
Miss Djax is the alias of Saskia Slegers. Not only an excellent deejay, she is also the founder of Djax records, a label every real techno, acid, or dance freak in general should have heard of. Releasing constantly new underground music, Djax has built a reputation that stands solid as a rock and has placed Eindhoven (Acidhoven) on the world's electronic music map.

Djax (and its variety of sub-labels) must undoubtedly be considered as one of the most important dance labels in the world. At the back of the book '1989 - 1999 Djax Records The Power of the Underground' James Hymann, (MTV Europe) calls it 'one of the decade's crucial labels' and further 'one of the world's most talked about labels'. People like Felix da Housecat, Justin Berkovi, Claude Young, Luke Slater, DJ Rush and off course Miss Djax herself have released tracks on Djax. No surprise then, Djax received many awards being best record label.

Beside running her very successful label, Saskia is, as mentioned, also a very popular international deejay. For many years she somewhere appeared on a list of international dj of the year, always top ten, always accompanied by people like Jeff Mills, Richie Hawtin, Laurent Garnier, Carl Cox and so on. She has played all over the world and on all major events worldwide.

A few examples? She closed two times at the Victory Tower at the Love Parade, she also played four times at the Love Nation party on the Love Parade, six times at Mayday, four times at Nature One, I Love Techno, Innercity and so on, so what need we say more?

Stanny Franssen

Stanny Franssen
STANNY FRANSSEN

Genetic Recordings
Stanny Franssen's musical infatuation started with electronic body music and new wave, both styles already drawn form '80 electronica (Nitzer Ebb, Front 242 ?!) Stanny started young his first gigs at the age of 16, mixing mainly acid techno sounds from implants such as UR and 8. The music bug just kept on going and so records were bought and the need to produce grew.

After intense work exploring this new arena, several demo tapes were sent to record companies such as Big Time International. Together with Bart Grinnaert and Laos Mezzaros, the project 'Propionic' was born, resulting in three subsequent releases on Reload. With several other projects on the horizon, of which 'Cronical Re-Form' and 'G F', Stanny has production as no.1 priority.

Two full albums got released: "Electronic Lesson 1" and "EL2", both receiving superb comments from international music press and dj/producer colleagues. 'Electronic Lesson 1' reached the no.1 spot in Sven Vaeth's chart, a big achievement for the early days.

The winning combination of Stanny's unique skills and exposure widened the horizons for new contacts and projects.

During one of his road trips, Stanny met the much-revered Italian producers Marco Carola and Gaetano Parisio. The chemistry was right, and so "The Fifth Galaxy" ep on both Zenit as Ante Zenit (ltd) and 'Between the lines' ep got released on Conform by end '98.

And so many releases saw the light on diverse labels such as Intense, Kobayashi, Zync, Skunkwork, Molecular, Countdown and new releases on Primate.

The timing couldn't have been better for a Stanny Franssen label, Genetic Records, with the first release "Absolution" ep under his alias G-Force Feb '00.

With several productive corporations, such as Franssen vs Lowdown projects (releases on Carl Cox's Intec stamp, Rotation), Bad Pimps (with Patrick Lindsey), Monika Kruse, and Tomaz.

Next to his own releases, Stanny finds time to accept remix requests from distinguished producers like DJ T-1000, Samuel L Session, and Jamie Anderson amongst others.

The sound that is Stanny, coming from Napoli techno, is evolving with sways with old skool / German invasion (minimal) / melodic techno but all with the Franssen attitude. A master on three decks, Franssen's blistering dynamic set is underpinned by the raw organic funk of innovative productions.

Raving George

Raving George
This young lady dj began her raving flight early 2010. In February she took off, packed with a deep and sincere passion for electronic music, and an extreme love for clubbing and dancing.

Once airborne, she started to learn more and more about mind-fucking beats and soul-touching synths. Completely high and sickeningly softheaded, she ended up being unable to function without some insane, god killing music screeching into her ears.

Behind the decks, this girl wants you to go just as ballistic. She wants you to end up just as screwed and doped. She wants you to unfasten your seatbealts and follow her journey into pure, raving madness, soul gazing drops and blinding beats. With her mix of electro - techno she'll satisfy every single soul on the dirty floor. Her brain sick flight will make you crave to party for another six disturbed days.

Once your feet touch ground again, your vision will be blurred, your brain will be crunched and your ears will sweat blood. So score your drugs, put on your dirty clothes and get down on the most banged up music in town.

Rave is the lifestyle you need. So you better start living.

Already, this girl's luggage has been sent to I Love Techno - Yellow Room (with Boys Noize, Paul Kalkbrenner, The Proxy, Crookers, Fake Blood...), Tomorrowland (with Martin Solveig, Tiësto, Afrojack, David Guetta, Steve Aoki...), Laundry Day, Crammerock, Feest in het Park, Studio Brussel's Switch, Decadance, Jim TV... Mixtapes, reworks and mashed up tracks (such als 'Into your Face', comprising 54 tracks in 10 minutes, 'Screw You', which let's go 85 tracks in just 9 minutes and 'Up Yours' which let's go 100 tracks in 9 minutes) have been posted on several (inter)national blogs.

Once, this girl was called Charlotte de Witte. By now, the world is ready for Raving George!

Sterling Moss

Sterling Moss
Sterling Moss is best known for his three deck wizardry, complete with FX units and drum machines, bringing together a cutting edge fusion of tough grooves in an explosive dj mix.

On the production front, as well as running his 'Sound Lab' studio, Sterling is also an official programmer for Roland Synthesisers, having worked extensively on the programming of their MC-909 Groovebox, after they were impressed with his use of their vintage TR-909 drum machine.

Sterling's cutting edge fusion of musical genres has helped to push the perceptive boundaries of musical categories, and to intercept the barriers between scenes, making him a true leader in the future of the global dance scene.

Surgeon

Surgeon
Since exploding onto the techno scene in 1995, with the now-classic 'Surgeon EP', DJ and producer Anthony Child has been remoulding his area of contemporary techno.

Contemporary Surgeon sets have been notable for an experimentation with new DJ technologies, breaking out of the standard format of two record decks and a mixer to embrace cutting edge hardware and software solutions, blurring the line between a DJ set and a live performance.

Surgeon continues to use techno as a vehicle to carry his artistic message. Oblivious to current trends (although often helping to set them), his work continues to be deep and expressive but still carries through in a club environment. A perfect dynamic tension; balance and counterbalance; screw the roses.

Luke Slater

Luke Slater
Having burst back onto the scene in 2009 with his Planetary Assault Systems 'Temporary Suspension' album on Berlin's leading Ostgut Ton label, Luke Slater has been instrumental in reinvigorating the scene which he helped to create by bringing back techno's traditional, purist values. The human embodiment of the cyclical nature of music, Slater's many incarnations have, at various points in the past two decades, come to define techno.

The impact of that album can be measured against the demand for Slater's gripping P.A.S. 'Temporary Suspension' Live performances that Luke and his VJ toured for 2 years at festivals and clubs including Melt!, Dour, Mysteryland, I Love Techno, BLOC, Awakenings, Klubbers Day, Aquasella, Atomic Jam, DEAF, Free Your Mind, Nature One and Time Warp.

Now in 2011, the veteran producer has emerged from his Spacestation Ø UK studio to announce his next P.A.S album on Ostgut Ton; 'The Messenger'. Through hypnotising tracks like 'Human Like Us', 'Bell Blocker' or 'Motif' that churn and undulate in addictive tension, to heavy club workouts like the thundering 'Rip The Cut', 'Kray Squid' or the riotous 'Cold Bolster', to more subdued and spaced-out moments, Slater has created a real electronic album that is as listenable as it is challenging, memorable and progressive.

Over 12 tracks of exploratory techno and electronica, Slater chases that fundamental wave - seeking new sounds while staying true to the original P.A.S. ideology and channels an on-going search for new ground into cutting-edge modern music, from non-conformist techno to exquisite electronica.

Of course parallel to Luke's studio focus he also manages a busy worldwide DJ and Live tour schedule. 2011 will see Luke Slater appearances across Europe's best clubs and festivals, with the pre-launch` party at ADE, Amsterdam and the album launch party at Berghain, Berlin on Oct 29th before the new P.A.S. Live tour as 'The Messenger' begins to spread its vivacious roots across the globe.

Meanwhile, Luke's Mote-Evolver imprint has impressed with a run of very well received releases spanning the range of the genre. With dancefloor bombs from P.A.S, Shifted, Marcel Fengler and Lucy deep space techno from L.B.Dub Corp, Samuli Kemppi and Cari Lekebusch peak time dancefloor reworks from Norman Nodge, P.A.S, Mike Parker, James Ruskin and Function; Mote Evolver continues to deliver fresh momentum to the scene by steadfastly sticking to the twin values of consistent quality and varied content. The label is now readying new material from Luke under his mysterious L.B. Dub Corp guise, alongside long-running producer ASC in the first of the new 'Parallel Series' releases.

Luke Slater is a very prolific recording artist from the UK working under several pseudonyms making a wide variety of electronic music. His story begins at the Mi Price record store, Croydon, where he worked alongside Colin Dale (no introductions necessary) and Alan Sage (recording partner-to-be) and moved on to Jelly Jam Records of Brighton where his recording career really began.

Luke's vinyl debut was unleashed in 1989 under the Translucent moniker entitled "Momentary Vision". Released only as a white label it stood out for the fact that it was Detroit influenced and at the time the dancefloors rocked to the sound of the breakbea(s)t and so was a brave move that did not go unnoticed by the underground record clientele.

After a stream of further 12"s Morganistic was next, a beautifully chilled track, "In The Shadow", released on the obscure UK indie label Irdial. It was the label's most successful release and marked Luke's arrival as a leading light on the then blossoming UK scene alongside Black Dog, A.R.T, AFX Twin and B12. However, it was not until his link-up with Peacefrog in 1993 when Luke began his X-Tront series and his Planetary Assault Systems outputs through which he became widely known and praised for, resulting in Luke being heralded as the UK torchbearer for the Detroit techno sound. Further compounding the fact that Luke had really gained promotion to the Techno premier league.

His regular appearances at legendary clubs such as Fabric in London, Nitsa in Barcelona and Berghain in Berlin retain his superstar status today as a live performer and DJ, delivering five hour sets to sell out crowds.

In 2006, Slater set up Mote-Evolver back in 2006, a label run by himself releasing limited 12" copies for the collector and digital downloads through the Mote-Evolver website.

After a hectic 20 years, Slater slowed down in 2007/2008 in order to rest and focus on next phase in his career. Slater's eagerly anticipated new Planetary Assault Systems album is due for release in 2009.

Mondkopf

Mondkopf
French producer Mondkopf (aka Paul Régimbeau) has always seemingly stood apart from the musical trends that surround him since his arrival in 2008 with The (Declaration of) Principles EP on the Fool House label run by members of key "first wave" mp3 blog Fluokids. On that release there were moments of thumping electro that sounded very much of that time, but he also revealed a talent for glitchier fare that lead people to draw comparisons with Modeselektor.

Across two albums Mondkopf's music has developed markedly from this early release, with 2009's Galaxy Of Nowhere a sprawling collection of downtrodden electronica and widescreen orchestral moments melded with crunched and processed beats that read like an undervalued homage to his childhood heroes such as Aphex Twin and Chris Clark. Intriguingly, his pertinently titled second album Rising Doom was an altogether darker experience linked wholly to the emphasis of his live set, embracing with real intensity the influence of abrasive forms of metal music. It made for an overwhelming and at times uneasy listen, but you have to give Régimbeau credit for such a heart wrenching approach to electronic music.

Around the time Rising Doom was released, the producer established a new club night at Parisian venue The Rex Club named In Paradisum, with the obvious aim of inviting producers and DJs with a similarly all encompassing approach to music. To date luminaries such as Oneohtrix Point Never, Perc, Inigo Kennedy, Sandwell District and Demdike Stare have all played. Playing alongside such names has clearly proved influential in the producer's decision to start a label of the same name, with this first release including some suitably uncompromising material.

Syncope

Syncope
Dj Syncope born in 1977, grown up in Belgium. Passionated by music he started spinning records at the age of 17. Due to his energy, enthusiasm and skill in mixing tracks and tunes behind the turntables, he began dj-ing in the local club-house very soon. In 1998 Syncope moved to Ghent. Inspired by the Code-303-parties he got drawn to the acid music. Though Syncope never stitched to one style, he always wanted to explore the frontiers of music knowledge. Genres like techno, acid-techno, hard-techno, core, new & old skool acid, UK-acid and experimental give him full scope for a fusion of beats.

Deg

Deg
Deg really began to deejay at the beginning of the late 80's "AB Sound" and "Acid House" explosion. He was offered to play his first gigs at some school parties after which he and his friends organised Brussels' first underground parties. He was a true pionneer and one of the first DJ's playing the then new genre: Techno. From here, everything started! In 1990 he already had built himself a solid reputation and was given residencies in pionneering belgian techno clubs like Mauna Kea, Network and Borsalino. Deg also played in the newest clubs such as Boccaccio, Globe, Barocci, La Rocca, etc.

Outlander

Outlander
As for so many contemporary Dance entrepreneurs, life for Marcos Salon did not start with a guitar in the family garage, but with a cheap keyboard in his bedroom. At first fiddling for fun, he soon found himself afloat in the digital domain and became a sound addict with a habit healthy enough to earn him a living. It was the era of new beat, and for once Belgium could pass for the centre of the universe. A regular of the then trendsetting Antwerp clubs Ancienne Belgique and Prestige, Marcos teamed up with DJ Marc Grouls and set up IN-D, a collaboration which would lead to three remarkable 12-inches on Subway Records: Virgin In-D Sky's (still one of the crucial anthems of the Balearic scene), Bastion In-D Stress and Beat In-D Dream. End of 1989 however, the two each went their seperate ways. Marc got involved in At mozphere Featuring Mae-B, while Marcos recorded another record for Subway Records under the name D.I.Y. (U Don't Have 2 Worry). He then moved on to the USA Import label, where he started working with pirate radio DJ's Sven Van Hees and Paul Ward as LIAISONS D. (named after the latter two's influential radio show). The tracks He Chilled Out and Sirenas aroused the interest of R & S Records, and not long after a last venture for USA Import with DJ Koenie and Sebastian Kalong (DECK-8-9 - Bio-Wacko) Marcos signed with R & S and adopted the pseudo OUTLANDER. In this solo capacity he has since then produced an impressive amalga m of refined and hybrid Techno (e.g. the massive Vamp), was responsible for a number of innovative releases in the mysterious T(est) Z(one) series and brought crowds to sheer ecstasy playing live at raves in Europe and America. His most recent releases, t he acclaimed double 12-inch Aural Scent and A New Paradigm, best represent what Outlander's music is all about: sonic bliss for the most demanding ears.

Mark Archer

Mark Archer
Mark Archer started his Production career in 1988 when along with Dean Meredith, he ventured up to the newly opened Blue Chip Studio's in his hometown of Stafford.Starting off as a hip hop/sample house group called Rhythm Mode D, they recorded a few tracks for the studio's own label before branching out with different styles including acid house and techno amongst others. Archer was a founder member of Bizarre inc... before starting up a new project under the name Nexus 21 who had a string of releases on renowned labels such as Network and R&S Records (and were famously the first artists to receive a remix by the legendary Carl Craig on their 'Still (Life Keeps Moving)' single). At the same time, Mark began a side project, which was to become one of the biggest names in rave history, Altern 8. Altern 8 crashed the UK charts in 1991 with 'Infiltrate 202' and 'Activ-8 (come with me)', two chaotic slices of hardcore, the latter reaching number 3. They were aided in their chart aspirations by the circulation of fictitious press stories concerning their alleged activities, which included promoting the decongestant Vicks Vapo Rub, which, it was claimed, heightened the effects of Ecstasy; and standing as local candidates for the 1993 General Election. Their live events were also designed as eye catching performances, where the band donned RAF chemical warfare suits and dust masks. They were aided by their resident dancers and MC MkOne, in the case of their gig at Stafford's Bingley Hall, an actual shaman. His job was to cleanse the venue of its 'rock n roll', prior to performance. Additional vinyl outings included the 'Overload ep' (1990), 'Frequency' (10,000 copies of which were on sale for a single day only and written solely by Archer), and another top ten hit, 'Evapor 8', followed by 'Hypnotic St8', the LP 'Full on Mask Hysteria' (number 10 in the LP charts). The protagonists long maintained that this was a temporary diversion from their main project, Nexus 21, and confirmed this by releasing a 'final' Altern 8 single, 'Everybody', in June 1993. Mark Archer has gone on to form Slo-Moshun, a duo of Archer and Danny Taurus from Stoke on Trent. They released 'Bells of New York', one of the biggest club hits of early 1994, breaking the main top 30 on the back of its house/hip hop undulations. However, some of the Altern 8 methodology remained - this time the scam was to trick everyone into thinking it was a US import. Archer has gone on to record tracks as diverse as Nu Skool Breaks for Rennie Pilgrem's label TCR, under the pseudonym 'Mr Nex', and remixed 'Edzy's' - 'Do it till you burn' on Strictly Rhythm. 2007 was a return to the sound of Nexus 21 with the solo release of the 'Songs for einna EP' on the Black Dogs new label offshoot DS93, the ep sold out before it's release date and has had collectors paying big money for the sought after vinyl only release. The EP was followed earlier this year with the release on new label Mutate of the 'Ring of Gyges EP' which follows on from the DS93 release in style. contributions on Balkan Vinyl's Coloured series and Rave Wars, along with a 2011 remake of his own "Frequency" track (originally credited to Altern 8) featured remixes by Killa Productions and Luke Vibert. Mark has continued to dj throught his career in various styles but mainly on the 'Oldskool' scene playing classics from the golden era of 'rave' 1988-1992.

Robert Leiner

Robert Leiner
One of the great tracks to be heard on R&S Records 1992 In Order To Dance 4 compilation was the deeply mysterious Neuromancer. The name SOURCE had not yet appeared on any R&S release list, yet the man behind the Source, immensely gifted Swede ROBERT LEINER, had been studio manager and engineer of the labels own recording facility for some time. Robert had been DJ ing from the age of 15 and had built his own recording studio in his hometown Gothenburg combining the two great passions in his life; electronics and dance music. His work for Swedish record companies and artists brought him recognition and an underground reputation in Scandinavia, however he relocated to Belgium in the early nineties to broaden his artistic scope. Roberts first recording for R&S was released as an untitled blue label promo and resulted from a live jam. It saw the light of day in the summer 1992 and immediately found its way to the worlds influential DJs; it is now highly sought after, as no more than a few hundred copies were ever pressed! But it was the 1993 album Organized Noise that really turned Roberts moniker SOURCE into a household name: throughout eight elaborated avant-dance tracks he delivered a unique blend of thunderous beats, sparkling acid and trance ingredients that was greeted with rave reviews and set alight dance floors all over the global techno village. This was dance music at its very best: uncompromising, organic and brimming with pure undiluted energy. Organized Noise launched Robert on the live front. Before he had been spinning in either techno or ambient mod now he was playing live in front of ecstatic audiences across Europe and the States. Nurtured by a wide variety of influences, Robert has never confined himself to a single genre. His interest in electronic music was aroused by artists such as Brian Eno, Can, Yello, Kraftwerk, Jean-Michel Jarre, George Clinton, YMO and Tangerine Dream but when acid and house started to happen he was one of the first DJs in Scandinavia to spin the latest discs from Detroit-, Chicago, New York and London. THE SOURCE EXPERIENCE (the Source banner was dropped when an English pop/dance combo carrying the same name threatened action) comes as the tech/trance emanation of the aspiration, as the eponymously titled double 12-inch which appeared late 1993 illustrated so well. Various reviewers hailed it as ROBERTS finest work, with Record Mirror using the phrase pure unbridled techno magic and Echoes discovering the long-lost singing robo-penis (!?) rearing in the breakdown of the track Elektra. On the other hand, the more subdued side of Roberts musical personality was first displayed on the 12-inch/CD Dream Or Reality. The track, taken from his album Visions of The Past and coupled with two brilliant alternative mixes, proved an impressive foretaste of this epic masterpiece, which since its release has acquired mythical proportions in the record collections of cognoscenti of electronic listening music all over the world. As Mixmaster Morris described the album in the January issue of i-D: Lighter than a soufflé, sleeker than a panther, this fine offering from the man behind Source drifts from airy techno to pure ambience with supreme confidence. NME coined the phrase Fireballs to melt the snow away. Robert next adopted his SOURCE EXPERIENCE guise for another devastating work: with an aural arsenal ranging from analogue terror tones to layers of digital refinement, Different Journeys and the single Point Zero contained the ultimate in sensurround techno. This widely acclaimed album launched Robert on a heavy schedule of live and DJ dates around the globe, which the inspirational Zyklus 12 inch has only helped to build upon! As both creator and DJ, Robert Leiner gives breathtaking visions of a far higher and different level than just the norm. His commitment to exposing us all to stimulating and challenging music marks Robert Leiner as a major figure in modern music, a fact that this is beyond discussion. In Roberts own words: it has always been there, you just have to discover it.!

Mike Dred

Mike Dred
Mike Dred is the general pseudonym of experimental techno DJ, producer, and sound engineer Michael C. Cullen, b. 1967, of Lowestoft, UK. He has been a leading DJ since 1983, a producer since 1988, a sound designer since 1992, and is considered an important figure in the development of acid techno and innovative usage of the Roland TB-303, associating him with fellow artists Tom Middleton, Aphex Twin, and Matthew Herbert. He is also known as The Kosmik Kommando, Universal Indicator, Chimera, Machine Codes, Space Avenger, and DJ Judge Dred. He was the first artist other than Richard D. James to release a project on Rephlex. His clear vinyl "Kosmik Kommando EP" was the 3rd release and was given a catalogue number CAT007 on account of his interest in James Bond. In addition, the Universal Indicator records released on Rephlex are amongst the most collectible recordings in the history of techno music. Mike Dred established the Machine Codes record label in 1993 and also recorded for R&S Records and R&S Records offshoot Diatomyc. He has also collaborated extensively with the electro-acoustic artist Peter Green (not to be confused with his namesake, the blues-rock guitarist Peter Green of Fleetwood Mac fame) and has produced a one-off collaboration with techno producer Dr. Fernando.

Ben Sims

Ben Sims
From early formative days earning his stripes spinning hip hop, house and rave on pirate radio, and at parties around Essex and East London, through the 90's as an ever more in demand DJ, and on into the new millennium as a label boss, producer and internationally recognised techno legend in his own right, Ben Sims has spent all his conscious life exploring all facets of underground dance music Throughout that time, the man has honed his reputation as a tight, energetic mixer who skilfully weaves together his own distinctive blend of tough funk and hardgrooves, often using three-deck wizardry and plenty of dexterity. Be it at clubs like Fabric London, Atomic Jam, Berghain, Florida 135, or any number of festivals around the world, Sims' sets are powerful, memorable, and unique, while constantly pushing the boundaries of a DJ set - utilising a mesmerizing blend of vinyl, CDs, and software. As well as carving a reputation as one of the world's leading techno DJs, Ben has curated many of his own revered labels over the years. Chief amongst them is Theory - an imprint this year celebrating it's 40th release, that counts amongst it's supporters contemporary connoisseurs like Marcel Dettmann, Ben Klock, and the old guard of Dave Clarke, Robert Hood, Rolando and more - proof, then, that Sims is on the form of his life production wise. Riding high on the wave of critical acclaim from his cultured debut long player on Drumcode, 2011's Smoke & Mirrors, an album that voyages into Sim's unique take on techno, coupled with authentic house outings, thanks to guest appearances from Chicago's Tyree Cooper and Detroit's Blake Baxter, whilst also showcasing plenty of dubbed-out and grainy textures. Sims has put his name to more than 50 releases in the last two decades. During those years, there has also been a steady stream of high profile remixes of scene heavyweights, including Jeff Mills, Adam Beyer, Kevin Saunderson and Chris Liebing, on labels du jour like AXIS, KMS, CLR and Drumcode, all of which have won as much critical praise as they have crossover success. Despite his veteran status in the scene, Sims has always been keen to evolve. Alongside Kirk Degiorgio, he is co-founder & curator of Machine - a clubnight which focuses on new, unreleased, & upfront music; it's primary home in London, but with editions all across Europe each year. Ben also hosts Sims & Friends events and stages at top clubs and festivals across Europe. Such shows incorporate Killa Productions sets with long time associate Paul Mac and feature regular appearances from like-minded talents such as Surgeon and others. Quite simply, if you know techno, you know Ben Sims.

Paul Mac

Paul Mac
After following the seemingly amazingly familiar UK path of electro/hip hop/acid house/techno it has now been nearly 21 years since Paul Mac started dj'ing and he has been producing for nearly 15, having recorded for over 50 labels including Sino, Intec, Ingoma, Kb Records Inc and Kanzleramt to name only a few and with nearly 120 release's to his name its probably fair to call him a veteran of the scene. With his own labels Stimulus Recordings and the relatively newly formed Sula Muse Recordings Paul continues to release all kinds of Techno from dance floor style club bangers to deep emotive material. After over 20 years of playing with records Paul has now made the jump to Ableton this has opened a lot of new doors musically and has reinvigorated his passion for the music. As well as his normal solo performances the future will see more performances with; Ben Sims as they finally bring the K.B Productions sound out of the studio and into the clubs, Mark Williams as the now infamous Sou Tai duo one of the more intense Techno performances on the circuit and finally as part of The Essex Rascals with Ben Sims, Tony Anderson and Mark Broom with more old school party influenced sets of Disco, Funk, Hip Hop and whatever else.

Soren Aalberg

Soren Aalberg
As a baby Soren was found by two fishermen floating in a Ikea basket on the Nordic Sea. He was raised by Mr Aalberg and went off to study in Kopenhagen (where he still lives today). It was there that he ran into Thomas Angstrom. Thomas introduced Soren to the world of electronic music. Soon they decided to make music together which led to some great releases on fine labels such as Bedrock records, Mindtrip Music, Coincidence records,... By using home made synthesizers and lots of own sounds, they create an unique and remarkable sound. That sound has been loved by DJ's such as Richie Hawtin, Len Faki, Troy Pierce, Luciano, Paco Osuna,... Currently Soren and Thomas run a label called Girafe Sauvage. This label aimes to release quality music from various artists all over the world such as Minilogue, Rodriguez Jr., Dimitri Andreas, Bryan Zentz, Size and so on. What will the future bring for Soren? Nobody knows. But what we know: Nous sommes des animaux and tout le monde aime le girafe!

Paul Langley

Paul Langley
Paul Langley started buying House & Acid House in 1988. By 1992/93 he got into Techno after going to a "Lost" party in South London. This was a major turning point for him musically. In 1997 Paul hooked up with DJ Rush after he heard a mix tape of his. Rush got him a gig at Berlin's Love Parade and various other gigs in Germany that year. By 1998 he had released his first couple of EP's on Rush's "Kne'Deep" label & on "Off the wall". In 2001, he started his label JACKSTAR, because he thought with the loss of UC and Jasper Stone records there was still a need for a new edge to that "Chicago hard funk music".

DJ Rush named Paul as his favourite DJ in iDJ magazine in 2005. He is now with Frank Kvittas Enhanced Music bookings and has been touring all over Europe with Frank, Boris S, DJ Bold & Patrick DSP.

His own DJ destinations make for a diverse wish list - having played everywhere from Bosnia to Tasmania and in the maddest of places ranging from underground nuclear bunkers to 6000 ft up mount Fuji in Japan. Then there are the live gigs he performs with Rick & Karl as Underworld Live, playing main stages at the biggest festivals around the globe. Dave Clarke

Dave Clarke
Dave Clarke is a techno producer / DJ, who is often ascribed the status 'The Baron of Techno'. He débuted with the single Hardcore's "I Like John" (1990, XL) and, excluding the "RA.EX007 Dave Clarke - 2010.11.12" interview, his latest is the album "Dave Clarke Presents Remixes & Rarities 1992-2005" (Nov 2006, Music Man).

Clarke has a reputation as one of the world's best techno / electro DJs, though always an outsider: from his stormy 1980s childhood, to his tempestuous relationship with the media today. As a fan of radio, Dave shares contemporary insights freely, on UK, Belgian, Turkish and Dutch radio (e.g. for 3VOOR12's 'Whitenoise').

In 1993, Clarke became involved in the early months of Daft Punk's career, upon approach by Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo. The band presented him and Stuart Mcmillan (Soma co-founder), with demo tape - leading to their début, Daft Punk's "The New Wave" (Apr 1994, Soma).

Kr!z

Kr!z
Kr!z' story with electronic music started in 1997. Coming from a strong hip hop background, his dj style is highly technical with cutting, scratching, juggling. This is only one aspect of his energetic dj sets. The other aspect is a strong sympathy for the more gloomy, dark, rawer sound of techno. Influences from Jeff Mills, Surgeon & James Ruskin defined his musical style and still play a big part in his performances today. After being one of the most prolific techno dj's in Belgium for the last decade and being a part of Belgium's nr 1 techno concept 'Kozzmozz', the last years his dj-schedule gets him all over the world, playing gigs in UK, Spain, China, Germany, France... In 2007, Kr!z felt there was too much good music around from his favorite artists that didn't get a proper release, so he started up his own label 'Token'. After releasing tracks by Inigo Kennedy, Phase, James Ruskin, Surgeon & Oscar Mulero amongst others, Kr!z rapidly established the label as a fixed value in the techno scene of today.

Chris Liberator
Perhaps the most loved and respected Acid Techno D.J. of all time, it is fair to say that Chris has probably played more squat parties, underground raves, technivals, festivals, clubnights, and parties worldwide in his 18 years as a D.J. than any other person alive, and is still completely dedicated to the music and the scene he got involved with when he started doing parties with the other two Liberators, Julian and Aaron back in 1991.

From funky techno, hard techno and acid techno to occasional punk sets, and party sets of old 80's dance, Hip-Hop and Reggae... The guy does it all.

DID YOU KNOW? Chris used to be a punk and was in Anarcho punk band Hagar The Womb before getting into Techno... is now in a new punk band DOGSHITE playing bass... is fiercely against the greedy mentality of capitalism... doesn't do Facebook... smiles a lot when he Dj's... plays nearly 100 percent on vinyl... and is a vegetarian!

Sven Wittekind

Sven Wittekind
Sick, Weird & Rough!

Sven Wittekind is one of the most famous german techno dj's, and has become an integral part of the creative techno scene. He has always stood for his own sound and developed it consistently; his music is a snapshot of his life. Over the years he developed himself and his sound into the unique combination of groovy techno and the rough industrial sound of Sven Wittekind today.

Mason

Mason
Dutch duo Mason make the kind of records that often defy being pigeon holed and given a label. Their productions have been destroying dance floors to tearing it up the World's charts since 2006, laying the foundations for more forward thinking music. Its not about making records for a particular set of Djs or trendy scene but just good honest music!

Using Iasons classical violin training coupled with a love of diverse music and a hi-tech apprenticeship in a ring tone sweatshop, together with his studio and live partner Coen, a man fixated with ancient synths and playing in rock bands and a mean vocalist to boot, the Mason boys are now forging their own unique path. This duo has the musical arsenal required to make everything from filthy late night dance club bombs to daytime radio anthems. These Dutchmen are unpredictable in both what is played in the club and what is created in the studio.

The Mason sound takes a great understanding of melody and fuses it with technological know-how sheer musicianship and dance floor savvy. It is dance music for the thinking man, but not so clever to be alienating and dull. Masons debut album, They Are Among Us features some interesting styles and flavours as well as guests such as legendary NYC rappers (Run) DMC and Kurtis Blow and hip hop UK hero Sway. Also renowned singer-songwriter Matt Hales ( AKA Aqualung) , Wonky pop pin-up Sam Sparro and former Moloko chanteuse Roisin Murphy add their magic to this eclectic line-up.

Iason and Coen play from behind their specially designed Baboon Booth using a mixture of new technology and real instruments to create a hugely dynamic and different show.

There has been a Worldwide hit, Exceeder and successful releases under their belt for Data/Ministry Of Sound as well as numerous releases and remixes for labels like Great Stuff, Skint, CR2, Mute and Pickadoll . Mason continue to garner respect from above as well as under ground. The boys have recently lent his sound to remix on numerous artists including Moby, Gabriella Cilmi, Hadouken, Rex The Dog, Evil Nine, Robyn and Jesse Rose.

2009 saw the launch of Mason's label, Animal Language and regular parties in Amsterdam under the same name. Ten double A-side releases down the line and the imprint is making fans with a huge array of DJs , bloggers and music-heads. Support has come from far and wide with the likes of Carl Cox, Pete Tong, Erol Alkan, Aeroplane and A-Trak all behind the imprint. The label recently graced the cover of dance music bible DJ Magazine with a CD of previous and new releases.

Behind the decks, or CDJs at least, Iason, the dj-ing face of Mason, has honed his craft for over fourteen years since falling for the grooves of early hip hop and spinning in his local clubs. Things progressed to warming up for Global mega star Tiesto at his gigs around the World where Mason also jammed violin to his own and his compatriots sets. The fiddle has since been rested, but Mason continues to rock crowds wherever he plays. He has headlined at some of the Worlds finest clubs and festivals including headlining the massively opulent Sensation White parties around the planet as well as appearing with top billing at festivals such as Dance Valley in Holland and at Creamfields in the UK.

If sheer talent and karma have anything to do with it then expect to be hearing this name a lot in the future.

Tom Hades

Tom Hades
Already at very young age Tom Hades was very interested in electronic music, especially the music influenced by DAF, Kraftwerk, and so on. During the period 1991 until 1999, he couldn't control his urge to produce music any longer. Therefore, he bought his first keyboard and he turned his game-computer into his first audio-workstation. Because his everlasting stubbornness and his enormous interest in computers, he wanted to learn every technical detail by himself. He knew Redhead for a long time already, and that's how he was brought in contact with Marco Bailey. And so, in the beginning of 2000, they started to produce their first tracks.

The "I Love Techno" anthem of 2001 was one of the many releases which were accomplished as a duo (check out the releases list for a complete overview).

In 2001, Tom Hades started to do live-performances.
In the beginning of the year 2002, Tom released his first solo on Session Recordings, Session 15.
In 2004, Marco & Tom teamed up to start their label: Rhythm Convert.

Axel Karakasis

Axel Karakasis
This man needs no further introductions. He is the best known Greek Techno export at this time with a long-standing career that still grows stronger.

His success story begins in the late 80s when Techno made its first appearance. From this point onwards, Axel's courtship with electronic music saw a very different light... By 1996, midst of an era that saw electronic music taking over the Greek dance scene, he was already known through various DJ residencies. In addition, together with the team "bubbles" he organised regular events -to be remembered to this date!- with a huge crowd of supporters! This was only the beginning for a series of very successful events in some of the biggest clubs in the Greek capital, and not only! In the following years, he became the most wanted Greek Techno DJ, having played in the biggest venues in Athens, Thessaloniki, Mykonos, Crete and all over his native Greece.

Notably, DJing was not the only outlet for Axel. He sets up his own studio and starts exploring avenues in music production. To put it in his own words: "I've always wanted to create the music I had in my mind...". In 2000, he meets Marco Bailey and starts releasing his productions in Pornographic Recordings (Marco Bailey's and Cristian Varela's label). He continues his productions and releases tracks in some very respected labels, such as MB Elektronics, Primate, MB Selektions, Rhythm Convert, etc. to establish himself in a genre he refers to as...Groovy Techno! Nowadays, Axel continues to release his music in world's top record labels, like Intec Records (Carl Cox's own imprint!) and Primate Recordings, whereas his tracks are played by some of the best Dj's around the globe and have featured in well known compilations and mix CDs, such as Extreme Euphoria (Ministry of Sound), Cream Ibiza, I Love Techno, and many many more...

After many years of hard work in the studio and together with Spiros Kaloumenos he launches Omega Audio Recordings. Having made Omega Audio one of the most respected labels, Axel is now channelling all his energy into his own brainchild, REMAIN RECORDS. The label was officially launched in September 2007.

Confirming his status as the most sought after Greek Techno DJ of his time, Axel headlines events in some of the best clubs in the world, such as the Rex Club (Paris), Womb (Tokyo), Turnmills (London), tours regularly countries like Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland, Korea, Croatia, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Holland and Malta, to name a few, and has appeared in top festivals like Awakenings (Netherlands) Rabac Festival (Croatia), Apokalypsa (Czech Republic), etc : he keeps exciting crowds all over the world, as well as in Greece!

At this moment Axel Karakasis is internationally recognized as the best known Greek techno DJ for his full of energy 3 decks sets and featuring rigorous musical selection that portrays his style.

Surely, there is more to come from this unstoppable techno rebel...

DOUBLE U JAY

DOUBLE U JAY
DOUBLE U JAY (I Love Techno, City Parade, Basik // Be)

"For the love of the music... the true techno vibe will survive"

Keeping the true techno vibe alive, that's what Double U Jay is all about. He was immediately fascinated by this versatile genre. It intrigued him how techno can be powerful, deep, soulful, funky, pumping, driving, melodic, dark.... all at the same time. This diversity is also easily spotted in his sets, combining housy Detroit sounds with funky tribal and hardgroove. A wide selection of tracks combined with old school skills (3 deck mixing, effects, juggling, scratching,...) make up for an energetic live performance.

Double U Jay was selected by Dave Clarke to open his Red Room at I Love Techno 2008. Dave Clarke picked him out of all the contestants of the White Noise contest, stating that "his mix told a story and he deserved it".

His main goal : Respecting the true techno vibe - quality electronic music that unites people, entertain them as a dj and educate them at the same time.

D.D.R.(Stay Up Forever // Uk)

As a twelve year veteran of the London underground dance scene, Dave has unleashed his own brand of techno on many labels and at many parties, raves, clubs and festivals around the globe. Being a central player on the Uk free party sound system scene, DDR could be found running rig's at parties and festivals in the early nineties. Following on from this, it was not long before he was bringing his fledgling studio out to these events to play music to the masses directly from the machines.

More recently DDR has been involved in the construction of the vinyl mastering facility for Kinetec Mastering, continues to produce for all of his favorite labels and spends much of his time in the States where he can be caught bringing the sound of the London acid techno underground.

BEN LONG VS JAMIE BISSMIRE

BEN LONG VS JAMIE BISSMIRE
BEN LONG VS JAMIE BISSMIRE (50 Hz, Contact booking // Uk)

Within the techno genre, many claim to have been influenced by the now heavily commercialised hip hop movement. For Ben Long, one half of London 's infamous and influential Space DJ'z, this statement comes from within. When commercialism finally set about popularising hip hop to the masses, Ben turned his focus towards the familiar beats and bass of techno to satisfy his love of electronic music.

From one of the UK's leading dj's, producers and exponents of techno music Jamie Bissmire has pretty much done it all. As one third of Bandulu he has inspired a plethora of international artistes to take up the production baton and live audiences to lose their collective marbles on the dancefloor.

On vinyl, on the decks or on patrol. Whatever it takes, Jamie Bissmire's on a musical mission and we're just trying to keep up.

Space DJ's

Space DJ's
SPACE DJz (50 Hz, Contact booking // Uk)

"Techno is always changing and moving"

in 1988, Ben linked up with old friend Jamie Bissmire. The two urban Londoners had already been avid record collectors, and they began experimenting on turntables, and in the studio. The Space DJ'z were born. There are few dj's and producers in the modern techno world who can truly claim to have pioneered a style and sound, and call it their own. Such statements are often declared, but rarely justified. In the case of Ben Long and Jamie Bissmire, the names behind the revered Space DJz this claim would be unarguable.

The Space Djz have been renowned the world over for their breathtaking skillz behind the deckz. Whether working as a team or individually, Ben and Jamie consistently deliver astounding performances...

Dj' ing to them is an art, and with over ten years on the world dj circuit they have the knowledge and experience to rock any party right ...

autoKratz

autoKratz
Since storming onto the UK music scene in early 2009, London based duo autoKratz have swiftly merited a reputable and solid name for themselves from the start: With their distinctly unique sound which boasts infectious bass hooks, insanely catchy vocals, compulsive beats and slices & bleeps and comparisons to Digitalism, this electro-duo quickly caught the ears of certain BBC tastemakers such as Annie Mac, Zane Lowe, Pete Tong and Steve Lamacq who helped spread the gospel and gain support from the likes of Tiga, Erol Alkan and Brodinski in the clubs. Shortly thereafter, the Parisian electro-pioneers at Kitsuné snapped them up to release their full length 'Animal in the Fall of 2009 in Europe, prompting the band to embark on a widely successful tour, recruiting legions of hardcore fans across Europe in the electro underground scene with their formidable live shows, securing them as one of the most sought after breakthrough acts in electronic music this year. Having played a prestigious festival circuit this year including Glastonbury, Lowlands & Pukkelpop, the autoKratz set combines their trademark rock and roll energy with a remarkably distinctive electro sound - a recipe which has seen them touted as the most significant live electronic act to have emerged in recent years with comparisons to legendary acts such as Underworld, Depeche Mode, and The Prodigy. "Always More", the first single to be taken from their highly anticipated debut album 'Animal' is a moment of electro-pop perfection, proving autoKratz have honed their songwriting craft to produce a very special record.

Marc Romboy

Marc Romboy
Out of the dungeons of Moenchengladbach, Germany the thirty-something pulls the strings and makes things happen. His recent and most successful move definitely was to give birth to the already well established electro/house imprint Systematic in 2004 in Berlin which is a platform for his own productions as well as for hot and upcoming talents. Electronic house music with a certain breakdance appeal, reminiscent of old school Chicago dance floor insanity is Romboy's true passion, when it comes to deejaying, producing and making decisions as the Systematic commander! So far for the label he has collaborated with such high profiled artists as Booka Shade or Blake Baxter and signed tracks and mixes from producers like Martin Landsky, John Dahlbäck, Phonique, Jence or Abysm. After only a couple of releases Romboy managed to put his own stamp on the international club scene and his first artist album Gemini was released in 2006 His second artist album for Systematic records, Contrast released in June 2008, sees an electronic album of collaborations with some of dance music's most excellent vocalists. Chelonis R. Jones - known for releases on Get Physical and for his collaborations with Röyksopp - contributes on two releases. Blake Baxter - a regular Romboy collaborator who has also released on Kevin Saunderson's KMS imprint, Tresor, Disko B and Underground Resistance - adds his vocals to 'Fly Away'. And Mr. K-Alexi - one of Chicago's finest who has also collaborated with artists including Larry Heard, Robert Owens, Will Smith and Felix Da Housecat, lends his voice to two tracks on the album.

Pig & Dan
Pig & Dan are made up on producers Dan Duncan & Igor Tchkotoua (Pig). They met a number of years ago and from there have developed an extremly solid and fruitful partnership. After a few months of producing together they signed a deal with Dutch label, Sadie Records, they began to enter into the market and gain success. This gave the duo a boost and they started to produce two/three tunes a week. They then decided that it would be a good idea to build their own record company 'Submission' and work together with Sadie to create a bigger market. The rest is history.

Michael Mayer

Michael Mayer
As a DJ, producer and remixer, Michael Mayer remains one of Germany's core celebrities in dance music. It's no secret that he spends his weekends traveling around the globe. It's likely throughout his career he's played in front of millions. Then, as a co-owner of Kompakt, he spends his weekdays deciding what will be released on the label and working with the label's artists and overseeing Kompakt's distribution wing - the home of over 50 record labels. Amazingly enough, he manages to sneak into the studio on occasion to produce his own music and remix the likes of Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode, Foals and Rufus Wainwright. And of course there is Supermayer but more on that later. It's safe to say he loves being challenged and regardless of the pressure is never putting less than 100% of his heart and soul into everything he does. Born in 1971 in the Black Forest, he was exposed to DJing as a young teen when he befriended a neighborhood DJ and light designer who gave him mix tapes and snuck him into the local club. "The image of someone standing behind the turntables is carved into my memory. I knew at once that was what I wanted to do". Taking up the trade of a paperboy a wee 14 year old Mayer managed to earn enough for turntables and a mixer. Soon after, he was the star of the school dance and maestro for the local birthday parties. At the tender age of 18, Mayer graduated to the world of disco and became Saturday night resident of Achern's leading club at the time, Why Not. Sadly short-lived, Michael's musical tastes didn't match the crowd's bid for commercial cuts and so he was banished to peruse more "underground" projects.

Fabrice Lig

Fabrice Lig
Fabrice Lig is considered by his peers & techno fans around the globe as a world class producer. He is well known for his particularly funky use of Roland's sh101 analog synth, and for his particularly emotional and personal melodies and harmonies. There is no doubt that after more than 10 years of teaching himself production processes, complex midi programming and harmonies, Fabrice's sound is unique and recognisable among the thousands of weekly techno releases. Demonstrations of these skills appear on the crème de la crème of techno labels such as KMS (Kevin Saunderson) & 7th City Records (Dan Bell) from Detroit, F-Communications (Laurent Garnier) from Paris, Raygun Records from Hamburg, Playhouse Records from Offenbach and most recently on the finest Berlin-based label, Kanzleramt (Heiko Laux). It was in 1988 that Fabrice was touched by his first dance music shock - "I was 15, on the dance floor of a Belgian club, when I heard Big Fun by Kevin Sauderson's Innercity project. It was an shock, I'd never felt such overpowering emotion before. The day after, a friend who used to work for a radio station told me that it was called Techno music. It was my first contact with Detroit electronic music". By the end of 1998, after his first DJ and production experiences, under the Interwaves and Bug Orchestra nicknames, Fabrice was elevated to the ranks of the Detroit musical elite by Mad Mike himself, thanks to his classic remix of E-Dancer's Banjo track on KMS: "Fabrice is a part of Detroit music's history by being the first white producer to record on KMS

Brodinski

Brodinski
Brodinski, 1 has his right hand on the hardened minimalist edge and his left hand on the electro party scene. He's part of the fluokids phenomenon. His sets are clean but the tracks are dirty, and the "mix tapes" he offers on his blog never fail to disappoint. Baby Djs are awake since 2006, be careful Brodinski may be the bad boy of this blogaddicted gang ! Coming from Reims, he started music at 15 and just never stopped hitting the dancefloor harder and harder... His friendship with Yuksek helped him to begin the production of music of mass destruction: "Bad runner" is a must play for any DJ dealing with bloghouse and maximalist techno sets! He also appears on many hostings and mashups with his friends creating new dimensions of his work: noob & Brodinski, Mumdance & Brodinski, Gucci Vump , The Krays (aka Yuksek & Brodinski). "Brodi" is now resident for Panik parties in Paris... Boom Chick Boom Ah !

Shinedoe

Shinedoe
Shinedoe started performing as a dancer at an early age of 15. Inspired by her African heritage and influenced by music of the early 1980s, she performed at clubs, video-clips, and bands like Quazar and Warp, to name a few. Her mission was to translate the music through her dance movement. After performing for 4 years as a dancer throughout Europe, she decided to stop and focus on other things such as buying electronic music records for personal use, and producing mix tapes for friends. Her music then was a mixture of US garage, Detroit techno and house. As a result of the mix tapes, her first gig happened at Club "Ja" in Amsterdam. She seriously started mixing music at the age of 19; she got her debut booking in 1995 at the VIP-club (Paradiso) in Amsterdam, where she rocked the place and became resident DJ. Also, she was offered a residency at Club Stalker in Harlem. Ever since 1995, she played at all the big festivals, clubs and parties in the Netherlands, from Dance Valley to Awakenings. Also promoters from abroad got interested in her DJ-sets, which resulted in bookings in various countries, such as Germany, Moscow, Spain, Italy, Sweden, China, Bosnia, Israel, Slovenia, Croatia, to name but few. Parallel, from around 1997 until 2000 she played drum 'n bass under the pseudonym "Black Magic Queen". After a while she decided to focus on tech-house and techno only. Shinedoe spins a variety of funky groove minimal techno-sets with tech-house, Chicago, acid and Detroit influences. She likes to keep her sets interesting by combining different flows. The crowd adores her because she knows how to rock the place. In 2001, she started her own night called "INMOTION" at clubs Paradiso and Amuse in Amsterdam, where she has been inviting quality (inter)national DJs to perform. 2004 saw her most important evolution. Her debut release 'Dillema' on 100% Pure was immediately a classic. "Dillema" was the 2004 summer anthem of the Cocoon club - Ibiza, loved by the likes of Richie Hawtin, Ricardo Villalobos, Sven Väth, Luciano ... Her productions are played and supported around the globe. She also runs her own label "Intacto Records", collaboration with 100% Pure owner Dylan Hermelijn. This label has been launched in September 2004.

SAMIM

SAMIM
Samim is also known as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Born into a Swiss-Iranian family, he was exposed to a wide range of musical influences throughout his life. Soon after discovering his passion for electronic music through hip hop and industrial music, he started to develop and enhance his renowned Syncopated Patterns and Hypnotic Rhythms. Early on Samim joined forces with Michal Ho, producing a wide range of music under the "Samim & Michal" brand. After their first EP "Dini Muater" appeared on the Zürich based label "Stattmusik" the duo was poised for success. They went on to release three successful EPs (F / Angel / Ripop) on Jay Haze's TuningSpork and Textone Imprint, developing their trademark sound even further. In 2004, due to a serious cancer illness Samim was forced to take a break just to reappear shortly after, more determent then ever and ready to take the next step in his career. In late 2005 he relocated from Zürich to Berlin, opening up a whole new range of musical opportunities. Samim immediately tapped into the Berlin scene, initiating his most productive time so far. He released a series of very successful 12", including collaborations with Jay Haze, Michal Ho, Argenis Brito and signor andreonion labels like TuningSpork, Wasnotwas and Freizeitglauben and due to popular demand got remix assignments from labels like Get Physical, Highgrade and Little Big. At the same time he focused more on the Album format, producing two full length releases together with long time musical collaborator Jay Haze under the brands Bearback (Album: Under The Influence / label: T.B.A.) and Fuckpony (Album: Children Of Love / label: Get Physical). His live operations have brought him to numerous clubs and venues all over the world, making him one of the most comprehensive entertainers currently available.

Their label's hype says "MOTOR is totally un-compromised music that deliberately breaks any musical restrictions or sound barriers. It's success led to Lopazz remixing Germany's biggest pop act Xavier Nadoo, while techno legend Sven Väth snapped up "I Need Ya" for his Sound of the Fourth Season mix CD. Stefan's relationship with Berlin-based Get Physical Music began when he was commissioned to remix Chelonis R. Jones' "Don't Know". The label went on to issue Lopazz's own vocal track "Migracion", which was subsequently remixed by Chilean superstars Luciano and Ricardo Vilallobos. Carl Craig

Carl Craig
Carl Craig is a Detroit-based producer of techno music, and is considered to be one of the most important names in the Detroit second generation of techno producers and DJs. Like many of his peers, Carl Craig has approached techno using inspiration from a wide range of musical genres, including jazz and soul. Carl Craig has released many successful albums under a large number of aliases, such as BFC, Psyche, Paperclip People, 69, Designer Music and Innerzone Orchestra. Using one alias, Innerzone Orchestra, he released perhaps his best-known track "Bug In The Bassbin" in 1992, a track that many regard as being a key influence in the then evolving sound of drum and bass. Carl Craig has also created his own record label called "Planet E", which apart from his own work, has released records by well known techno and house artists like Kevin Saunderson, Alton Miller and Moodymann. Craig served as artistic director for the widely successful Detroit Electronic Music Festival in 2000 and 2001. His subsequent dismissal by festival organizers caused substantial controversy within the Detroit techno community, igniting a high-profile campaign in his favor.[2] In 2001, Craig filed a breach-of-contract lawsuit against festival producer Pop Culture Media.[3] Part of what makes Craig's style so unique and separates him from much of the normal "Detroit Techno" sound, including current works, are his remixes of world beat and jazz songs. This has helped spark a new movement of electronic music.

Deetron

Deetron
The man behind Deetron is Sam Geiser (1978) born and still living in Bern. He first got into contact with music during his early childhood, for his father is a Jazz musician. His big youth passion, however, was HipHop. He was fascinated by the likes of Gang Starr, A Tribe Called Quest, Prince Paul but also by Todd Terry's early HipHouse tunes or Detroit techno originators Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson. After having bought two turntables and a mixer, he began deejayin' Hip Hop in 1992. The deejay culture of the Hip Hop movement was his link to electronic music. He started deejaying at different clubs all around Switzerland and became resident at the world famous Club Trax @ Rohstofflager in Zürich and got well known for his 3-deck mixing skills and sets blurring the lines between Techno, House- and Detroit-classics. He made his first sound experiments with a sampler in 1994 and from then on continuously built up his own studio because of his avid interest in electronic sounds. An introduction to Stefan Riesen from Phont Music in 1997 led to his first release as Soul Mate on Phont Music. He then travelled to Japan for deejaying in 1999 and recorded the ?Double Exposure Vol. 1? EP with DJ Shufflemaster in Tokyo, again for Phont Music. In the year 2000 he was contacted for an EP by In-tec records where he released the very successful Alien Entertainment EP? which was hammered by the likes of Jay Denham, Claude Young, Jeff Mills and Laurent Garnier and attracted attention from press and listeners worldwide. In 2001 'Dolls for a diva' was released on the highly acclaimed Music Man label in January, the start of a strong relationship with this label from Belgium. New EP?s followed on Dave Angel's Rotation (Vertigo EP), Jay Denham?s Black Nation/Sector 616 (Dancing manual EP), Steve Bicknell's Cosmic (as Karakter), Ongaku (Lorraine EP) and Phont Music (Cut Back EP). Sam remixed Samuel L. Session, Ben Sims, Damon Wild, Steve Bicknell (as Karakter), K-Alexy Shelby, Orlando Voorn, Paul Mac and others. His energetic DJ- sets reached clubs in Holland, Belgium, England, Germany, Austria and a promotional DJ-tour in Australia took place in July 2001. After the Outerworld EP on Music Man and several remixes in early 2002 the highly acclaimed debut Mix-Compilation by Deetron has been released in June by Music Man, which gained a lot of praise from press worldwide and gave his worldwide DJ-Schedule a boost by making it as hectic as never before. He travelled to Spain, Croatia, France, Belgium, Holland, Australia, Singapore, Japan, China, Czech Republic, Poland, Macedonia and more places all around the globe. The anticipated cooperation with Samuel L. Session released in July on SLS, remixes for Ben Sims, Damon Wild and Gary Martin amongst others highlighted his production work. Deetron will start the new year with a brand new single coming out on Music Man in February, including the tracks 'Body Language' and 'Uncutfunk'. Furthermore he is preparing his Debut Album for Music Man to be released in 2003 and remixes for Vince Watson and Mark Broom.

James Holden

James Holden
James Holden is far from your average DJ-producer. The wunderkind James Holden has finally come of age, and has delivered up the debut album to prove it: and at 28, about time too! For although the world seems strangely intent on fixing him in his early twenties (or more specifically, a series of internet sites who have seemingly overlooked the fact that biography ages require a yearly update!), the time has come to acknowledge that DJ and producer James Holden is not quite so young anymore. The timely release of Holden's 'The Idiots Are Winning' mini-album in 2006 marked the occasion, and formed a fitting musical illustration of Holden's new-found maturity. Still reluctant to bestow upon it the accolade of 'debut album', for Holden himself 'The Idiots Are Winning' remains an EP which grew out of control: take four dancefloor-length Holden tracks, mix in the obligatory DJ tools and alternative versions that he is so keen on, and an interlude or two for good measure, and you have far exceeded the single realm and are pushing into album territory. Not that the manner of its creation should affect the listening experience: Holden's intricate and inimitable production style ensures a coherence of atmosphere, where even DJ-friendly extended intros hold up to home-listening scrutiny. The Guardian went so far as to proclaim it "the most astonishing debut in electronic music since Boards of Canada's Music Has the Right to Children." And who are we to argue? The producer James Holden's journey to this point began back in 1999, aged just 19, when he burst onto the UK scene with the exuberant teenage trance hit 'Horizons'. Produced on a basic home computer set-up and the freeware music program Buzz whilst still studying towards a Maths degree at the University of Oxford, the young punk's overnight success was a slap in the face for the audiophile establishment, and went some way towards opening doors for the legions of young bedroom producers who have now become the mainstay of the dance world. The floodgates had opened, and an intensive course of remixing, djing, production and collaborations extended before Holden in place of the conventional Oxford graduate career path. But if the axis of English (and those related countries which take their lead from the Anglo-American progressive house and trance scenes) took to Holden overnight, the rest of the world took a little longer to convince. It was not until the launch of his own Border Community label in 2003, kicked off in fine style with his own future anthem 'A Break in the Clouds', when key players in the hugely influential German scene began to sit up and take notice. Having found himself wedged rather uncomfortably between the prog and trance scenes in his native UK, this entrance into the German market represented a new-found freedom for Holden, and the non-generic approach to making melodic electronic music which he found amongst many of his peers in Cologne and Berlin finally had him feeling right at home. A string of hugely-influential and often-imitated monster remixes of everyone from Madonna and Britney Spears, through Depeche Mode and New Order, to Nathan Fake and Kieran Hebden and Steve Reid cemented his place as a mainstay of DJ record boxes everywhere, and Holden's global dancefloor domination was complete. Originally founded to offer a restriction-free outlet for Holden's own music, as well as serving as a launch pad for the production careers of his talented friends, the rather fanatical cult of Border Community which has sprung up around Holden's own label has of course been essential in achieving this independence from the narrow limitations of genre-specific music. The accolades due to Holden's Border Community baby include bucking the trend of declining vinyl sales in a major way, unleashing a whole host of idiosyncratic dancefloor classics on the world, kickstarting the careers of many a young musician, and making serious inroads on the realm of the artist album with offerings from Nathan Fake, Fairmont and Holden himself. Now in its fifth year, Border Community is firmly established as one of the foremost breeding grounds for fresh young electronic talent, thanks to their small but faithful army of free-spirited genre benders who between them have injected a new life into the European scene. The best place to catch a glimpse of the soon-to-be-massive delights yet to come from his Border Community label is of course a James Holden DJ set, where his tireless dedication to hunting down the next wave of young production talent meets his own sense of exemplary taste in selecting tracks from other labels to bring his unique vision of what club music ought to be to life. Barely coming up for air between his non-stop sampler and CDJ wizardry, Holden is a very modern sort of DJ, brazenly uniting tracks from music's past and present, disregarding genre, confounding the purists and making club hits out of many an unwitting dancefloor virgin. His supreme and unrivalled command of the modern technology available to him allows Holden to go where other DJs fear to tread, consistently pulling off daring mixes on-the-fly which just wouldn't be possible on a conventional two turntable set-up. And so distinct is the resultant sound that your average conservative dance music night can barely contain it, which is why James Holden is often best experienced alongside his edgy labelmates at one of his many Border Community label nights, at The End in London, and beyond. Between a hectic touring schedule which has taken in just about every corner of the world, running his Zeitgeist-defining label, and his status as hugely in-demand remixer du jour, it is little wonder that Holden's own original productions have occasionally seemed a little thin on the ground. But something has got to give if Renaissance man Holden is ever going to finish his next album, which is why his plans for 2008 feature a scaled down set of DJ dates and a strictly-enforced remix embargo. With that all-important studio time freed up, the time has come to begin plotting the next chapter in the James Holden story.

Nathan Fake

Nathan Fake
Nathan Fake is 27 years of age (born in 1983), and yes, that is his real name. He hails from that most unlikely hotbed of new musical talent, the deepest, darkest farmer country of Norfolk, UK. Two years ago Nathan, headed for the bright lights and big city of Reading(!), and since then has never looked back. Nathan exploded onto the scene last year with the mighty 'Outhouse' on James Holden's Border Community label, one of the most astounding debut singles in a long time which has surely now earned classic status, still receiving regular club and radio plays one year down the line. His rocktronica follow up "The Sky was Pink" (graced with a remix by Nathan's main fan 1#, James Holden) looks as though it may even better the incredibly high standards set by his debut, now set for not one but two rereleases, one through France's Cyber, another in the US through none other than Francois K's Wave label. Elsewhere stateside one Satoshi Tommie is also a fully paid up member of the Nathan Fake fanclub, and has snapped up no less than five of Nathan's finest for 'The Watlington Street EP' on his New York based Saw Recordings imprint. Cult German label Traum are the latest addition to Nathan's hordes of followers, poised to release a three track EP early 2005. Also spreading the Nathan Fake computer-edit-funk message are remixes of Steve Lawler, DJ Remy (Additive), Avus (Border Community) and Perc (Premier Sounds), with the legendary Tiefschwarz currently waiting in line for a Nathan Fake rerub. An artist not afraid to reveal his soft underbelly, tracks like "The Sky Was Pink" and Saw's "Peary Land" showcase the casio rock bedroom melodies which Nathan produces when he is not in tech-driven dancefloor monster mode, and give a good indication of where Nathan is headed on his forthcoming longplayer for Border Community. Nathan has recently unveiled his laptop live set, to rave reviews. Reading like a checklist of the world's capitals of cool, dates in Berlin, Barcelona, Madrid and Amsterdam form the next stages in the Nathan Fake campaign to take live dance music to levels hitherto unattained. Despite attempts from all corners to persuade him otherwise, Nathan harbours no burning desire to convert his production success into a career as a club DJ, and with a live show like his who can blame him! He is however happy to show off his many sides and eclectic leftfield tastes with an alternative backroom DJ set, and can also adapt his mainroom-friendly live set into something of a more experimental nature, as we can expect on his Border Community album. A young man at the beginning of his career, showing a level of accomplishment and attention to detail in his productions which ought to put many a more established producer to shame, these are exciting times for Mr Nathan Fake. "Man of the moment" is a phrase often thrown in his direction, but we can assure you he will be around for much longer than that... See http://www.myspace.com/nathancake for proper new music samples.

WIGHNOMY BROTHERS

WIGHNOMY BROTHERS
Music is the light of their lives! Wighnomy Brothers are Robag Wruhme and Monkey Maffia. Greetings, friends of the savoury palate. There are more or less three different stylistic methods concerning food ingestion: 1. orderly consumption; 2. suffering through some form of diet and; 3. a balanced feast. The Wighnomy Brothers of Jena have applied the latter, not only by taking in nature's fruitage, but by applying this also to their daily intake of music. Now it's time to deftly inform the rest of the world. To achieve this, they purloin not only the vinyl classics of others, but keep to the ultimate aim of keeping their own irons in the forge. The two tone-artists-slash-junkies Gabor Schablitzki (alias Robag Wruhme) and Soeren Bodner (alias Monkey Maffia), react to and revolve around the verbal confrontation. Both tap into you, starting stealthily as a mere bud in your soul, which eventually conquers your musical devotion. It all began with blond perms, armbands, striped stretch pants, heavy (emphasis on heavy!) metal and everything that goes with that image. Actually, all this is just a collection of lies told with a sigh and a smile. The two buddies got to know each other in 1988 while break dancing. The way it happens with some adolescents, the different music styles that passed through their eardrums included Hip Hop, early electronica of every colour, ambient, house, techno, jazz, funk, and even alternative/independent rock. Both soon concluded that the true sound aesthetic is far away from the instruments; at full blast it is only what pours out of the grooves in the vinyl. This being the case, the established "Phonothek" absorbs, selects and then releases product. The first refuge: Gabor stood in the mid-90s as "The Chill-Out DJ" behind the decks on many a relaxing floor of mother earth. In the meantime he played with Herbie Hancock and stood as a virtuoso in a keyboard shop. In 1996 with Volker Kahl he started the project "Beefcake".With his, rather experimental but simultaneously harmonious, electronicadevoted release he had notched his own international respect. Until 1997, Gabor & Soeren dashed through the Thuringian club and party scene, and are currently residents in the renowned Club Kassablanca in Jena. However only since April 97 they are known as the Wighnomy Brothers. Since the founding of the Freude am Tanzen label, business has steadily improved. Of course, not without the stumbling blocks and setbacks that happen with marketing mechanisms. However, in accord with the motto "Stehter Tropfen höhlt den Stein" (words of wisdom which mean when translated, steady drops will drill a hole in stone), the FAT vehicle with the Wighnomy Brothers steam engine stays on track. Also, for the last two years there is the added train car called Musikkrause and, the friendly collaboration with the Cologne based Kompakt stable must also be mentioned here. Therefore, stirring, intelligent, technotronic, wide ranging dance music of incalculable worth to body and soul welcomes you. Everything out of the speakers goes straight to the bones, bringing your blood to a boil whether minimal, bounce, shuffl ing, break, or jazzed tracks. Both gentlemen are solo artists: Robag Wruhme (also as producer) and Monkey Maffi a, allowing (when the "blessed union" is on hiatus) both gentlemen the liberty to give and receive unique inspirations. Morgan Geist

Morgan Geist
This New Jersey native was initially inspired by England's take on the sound of Detroit, but eventually tracked techno back to its Motor City innovators. When he began listening to music, however, it was the sound of early-'80s synth heroes like Devo, Severed Heads and New Order alongside early hiphop, jazz and 60's Hindi film soundtracks. Geist released his first 12" (via Dan Curtin's innovative Metamorphic label) while studying at Oberlin College in 1994. He formed Environ soon after, releasing powerful statements of purpose which showed his affinity for the more emotive strains of disco, techno, soul and all flavors in between.

The MFA

The MFA
The MFA (or Motherfucking Allstars) are Rhys Evans (Welsh) and Alastair Douglas (not Welsh), a live dance duo from London and Wales who stand first in line to the throne at the head of the UK live dance duo dynasty. Lofty aspirations indeed, but with repeated comparisons to the giants of dance music like The Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk, The Prodigy, Orbital and Underworld echoing from all corners whenever The MFA are in town, their ambition would appear not to be misplaced. The daft duo have earned this reputation over the last few years with a wide-ranging

Mr Moore played with several legends such as Mark EG, The Subs, Willie Wartaal Aka The Junkies, Frères Deluxe, Jack de Marseille, Swirl People, Smos and Baby Bee, and many more. Techno, tech-house, electro and a touch of ghetto-tech are mixed fluently into his dynamic sets. Now, Mr. Moore and Komputerist have joined forces. They have their residence at the Kickerz events, bringing their diversity towards the crowd. Franco Cangelli

Franco Cangelli
"Even though it feels weird to write about yourself in the third person, let's just take a plunge into my past doings..." Born and raised in Gent, Belgium with a pair of firm Italian roots. Spent his childhood dreaming of interstellar voyage, alien invasion and skies filled with colony spaceships… side effects of a daily overdose of television-infused sci-fi images. He first came in contact with electronic music in his childhood, right in the middle of the breakdance craze, backspinnin', body poppin', to the electro boogie of Grandmaster Flash, Africa Bambaataa, Jonzun Crew... Needless to say, he got infected by the electro bug at an early age. By the end of the 80's, Belgium came under the New Beat spell, which opened up an entirely new world, directly followed by the first insidious acid tunes. Franco has always been influenced by the more atmospheric, either moody or darker tunes. So when Detroit techno arrived at the scene, his mind completely absorbed the deeper techno vibes from artists like Carl Craig, Juan Atkins, Dan Curtin... But it didn't stop there. AFX, Autechre and other seminal artists who pushed the envelope even more, irrevocably shaped his mind to the more experimental side of electronic music, coming from labels like Warp, Skam, Rephlex... All of these influences define what Franco Cangelli is musically all about. His djing skills and production work cover different styles to satisfy his incessant need for further musical exploration. As a dj his favourite spinning styles at the moment are minimal techno & clickhouse and electronica. A typical minimal set for him includes relentless bleeps and clicks, dysfunctional melodies and jacking beats, gently spiced with some deep detroit techno, acidic tunes and experimental techno. Electronica-wise, he has an extensive collection of ambient, chill electronics and idm to choose from, to build up a nice colourful canvas of experimental soundscapes and beats. As a producer, his production is aimed at channeling deep emotional content through deep and minimal techno, experimental or dark electronica, or any other style that suits its purpose. Steve Bug

Steve Bug
Germany's minimal dance connoisseur, Steve Bug, started his DJ-career in a small after-hour bar near Ibiza's Space back in 1991 - soon becoming resident DJ in the best club in his hometown Bremen and booked to major German events such as the Love Parade. In 1993 he released his first productions on Hamburg-based Superstition Recordings (which were immediately licensed by Risin' High- UK) and in 1996 he founded his own label Raw Elements, followed by a 12" for Felix Da Housecat's Radical Fear imprint. After "Volksworld", his first LP on Raw Elements, together with the mix compilations "Da Minimal Funk Part 1 & 2" Steve put the label to sleep in order to set up two brand-new platforms for vinyl releases - Dessous and Poker Flat. Always crossing the bridges between house and techno with relaxed dignity, showing consequently that less can often be more, Steve Bug is soon to be acclaimed minimal tech-house master and one of the few gems of the innovative German electronic house scene. Poker Flat establishes itself as the number one source for stripped down futuristic house music with amazing musical diversity and it's name spreads like wildfire with Steve's eternal minimal clubhit "Loverboy" in 1999 - the opener to his album "The Other Day" and the very first release on Poker Flat. For his second label- the deep house oriented Dessous - Steve shows his passion for late night unhurried house and teams up with Vincenzo for the project "Discowboys". A new mix compilation "Steve Bug presents The Flow" was released on Cocoon Records in 2001 and Steve remixes Robotman, ADNY a.k.a. Alexi Delano, Antonelli Electr. feat. Miss Kittin and others on labels such as Raum...musik, Italic, Turbo Records and his own imprint Poker Flat Recordings. Steve Bug releases his third album "Sensual" in late 2002 and teams up studiowise with Richie Hawtin for "Low Blow" on Minus as well as with Common Factor for a 12" on Tactile. The 3rd Da Minimal Funk compilation and remixes for Funk D'Void, Jeff Samuel and Freaks follow. Steve Bug's continues playing with seductive and laid-back funk, dirty retro basslines and random bleeps, incorporates techno electro and basic funk into bare house grooves creating moody minimal and seductive music. Further new Releases like %u201EFuture Retro 101, Traffic Signs (1, 3 ,4 and 5) and Tanzbug with Mathias Tanzmann follow showing Steve's love for the dancefloor and prove that he has an over abundance of funk and minimal melody coursing through his veins. For his third label, Audiomatique, founded as a playground for modern styles of Techno and House, on only the 4th release Trentemøller's Physical Fraction already scored a big success. This massive Clubhit was the breakthrough for Danish shooting star Anders Trentemøller. The next hit dropped with Martinez' %u201ESchadow Boxing". The new Steve Bug Single %u201EThe Smackman EP" came out on Poker Flat in early 2006, followed by the second edition of "Bugnology" in late spring 2006. Apart from his work for Poker Flat and Audiomatique, he still has his hands on Dessous as well and compiled one CD of the double-CD "Skin Is In" compilation in summer 2006.

Pantha Du Prince

Pantha Du Prince
Pantha du Prince, also known as Hendrik Weber, is a minimal artist signed to Rough Trade Records. His music is often characterised by a hypnotic, intricate combination of melodic chimes and dark, heavy techno beats, but does not confine itself to a single sound or strain of minimal techno. Arrangements are lush and textural, energising yet melancholy; a plethora of sounds and ideas unified by a consistent underlying tech-house beat. Dreaming music.

Radio Slave

Radio Slave
Radio Slave aka Matt Edwards No matter what sounds you profess to be your music of choice, chances are, that at some point over the last five years, you will have got your rocks off to Matt Edwards. As Matthew E he fashions club-based, dancefloor slayers. Under that aegis hes updated the classic Chi-town, sound beloved of house aficionados and layered it with fractured funk, belligerent, oddball beats and mechanical soul. If Matthew E is all about the Saturday Night Fever, then, by contrast, Rekid is the slower, more deliberate, rhythmical funk of the mid-week mayhem. Its well-intentioned muscular intensity making it perfect soulful sustenance. Quiet Village is something else all together. A collaboration with long-time musical sparring partner Joel Martin (a vinyl freak, like Mr Edwards, who works in esteemed auction house Christies pop department), its sample-based music which veers from drawn out disco-not-disco delirium to evocative, under-stated soundscapes. Sea Devils - you keeping up at the back - is undeniable electronic pop brilliance. Working with Tom from Cagedbaby, its the least niche of Matts projects and thanks to Sea Devils alluring pop dance grooves they will no doubt be shagging the upper reaches of the hit parade sometime soon. Last, but by no means least etc, etc, etc, is Radio Slave.

heartthrob

heartthrob
Jesse Siminski, Aka HEARTTHROB was born in 1976 in Northern Michigan. He discovered dance music through a musician father and relative who owned a record store. Early Prince, Kraftwerk's 'Tour de France' and Laid Back's 'White Horse' were three of Jesse's childhood favorites. As a teen in the early nineties, he discovered the Midwest Rave scene, traveling to Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis and Milwaukee to hear the unique sounds of the area. This is where he first hear and connected with the music of Richie Hawtin, Drop Bass Network and Communique Records-pioneer of minimal acid and techno. Their dynamic and challenging aesthetic had an impact. Shortly after Jesse became determined to make his own music and started collecting gear and recors. In 1999 Jesse moved to New York City, New York, United States where he continued to experiment with music as well as contemporary art. New York's small minimal scene brought him to Magda and Troy Pierce, who would become friends and sources of inspiration (musical and otherwise). Shortly after Richie Hawtin moved into the neighborhood and a friendship with the Minus family was established. The first public exposure of his music was during Magda's seminal dj set at Mutek 2003. Jesse uses his productions to explore the intersection where tradition and innovation cross as much as aesthetics and concepts. Where the ideal is function and entertainment as well as experimentation and emotion. Jesse has releases and remixes (past and forthcoming) on Minus, Underline, Contexterrior, Alphahouse, UnFoundsound, Mos Ferry, Get Physical, Wagon Repair, Tora Tora Tora, Phonocult, Esperanza and Stock 5 amongst others. He has been hosted to play at venues such as, Mutek New York City, Fabric (London) Popkomm at Watergate (Berlin), Volt (Amsterdam) and Batofar (Paris). Jesse now lives in Paris and is working full-time on music production and live performance.

troy pierce

troy pierce
Growing up in the quiet farm town of Muncie, Indiana four hours drive from Chicago and Detroit, it was hard to ignore the rich sounds emanating from these House and Techno strongholds. TROY PIERCE was among the first to pick up on DJs like Derrick Carter, Jeff Mills and Richie Hawtin and was always out and about at parties in Detroit, Ohio and across the Midwest. Strangely enough though, he never thought about picking up a pair of headphones himself, preferring to leave the DJ duties to his friends. This way he could fully immerse himself in the music, especially the experimental ambient tones of the after hour chill outs. This all changed in 1994. He moved to New York to study photography and like every student worth their salt, blew the remainder of his cash on a pair of turntables. He'd been toying with the idea for a while and as luck would have it his flatmate was also the manager of Temple Records so there was an endless supply of quality tunes on hand from labels like Perlon to satisfy his growing vinyl addiction. Troy eventually hooked up with Magda at the Detroit Music Festival in 2001, who in turn introduced him to Mark Houle six months later. An immediate chemistry developed between the three of them and although Magda was now in Berlin, Mark in Windsor and Troy in New York they started swapping music files over the net. By the time the Run Stop Restore project finally crystallised into their debut release in early 2003, Troy had already moved to Berlin. It was a big decision to leave but somehow New York no longer offered up-and-coming musicians the same freedom of expression it used to, while Germany and Berlin in particular was setting new standards in minimal electronic music production. Since touching down in December 2002, he's been letting his music do the talking. As a relative unknown, it's never easy staking a claim in a new city, especially one with such a rich musical heritage but sure enough, through a string of successful gigs and a mixture of impressive releases on Minus (Run and Slacknoise), Underline (Louderbach) and Mo's Ferry Productions, Troy has been attracting the right kind of attention and is now a regular performer on the European circuit. 2005 was the year when it all came good. The release of the Minimise to Maximise compilation and the accompanying tour left a lasting impression on clubbers at such centres of excellence as Robert Johnson in Offenbach and the Paradiso in Amsterdam but perhaps the real turning point came in August at pop.com. All those endless nights on the road and solitary days in the studio came together in one heart stopping set at the Watergate club. Taking the game to an expectant crowd including fellow producers and industry types, his uncompromising mix of minimal house and down beat, funked up techno announced, in no uncertain terms, that he was here for the long haul. As a DJ, attempts to categorise his style pose more questions than they answer. Minimalism in its purest form is a tag he more freely associates with labels like Consumed - 'super sparse, difficult and totally out there'. Troy on the other hand, has developed a dance floor friendly hybrid sound that takes the best from the 'little movements and micro trends' that constantly spring up, helping electronic music to evolve. It retains the mechanical, futuristic sounds of techno but is slower and less abrasive allowing him to work between the lines, exploit the space between the beats and push out into the third dimension that epitomises the Minus sound. Like his label mates, Troy is a strong advocate of cutting edge technology like Ableton Live, Final Scratch and sample tools like Cyloop. The ability to shift between these sound sources offers him unparalleled flexibility as a DJ but the benefits don't just stop there. He recalls road testing a new track one night in Berlin, getting the thumbs up from the rest of crew but then receiving puzzled calls the next day because the track didn't sound quite the same -- he was of course looping in samples 'on the fly' and it was this spontaneous improvisation that really set the dancefloor alight. Needless to say these overdubs found their way into the final mix. From a production point of view his tracks normally derive from experimenting with his Machine Drum or expanding outwards from the dark, atmospheric vocal elements that play a pivotal role in many of his productions. Inspiration often comes through choice regarding the effects he uses, rejecting standard, tried and tested settings in favour of unique percussive elements designed to challenge and intrigue. The result is a montage of scratchy subliminal textures and grinding beats. It's edgy stuff driven by dark funky bass riffs that get right under the skin, the perfect tonic for any after hour as sleep deprivation starts playing tricks with the mind. As it stands, 2006 promises to be an even busier year than 2005. Having provided the backbone of their releases so far, Troy will wrap up his work for UK label Underline with the eagerly anticipated Louderbach LP. Alongside this, his growing status as a remixer (check out his version of Ellen Allien's Your Body is My Body) will see him reworking the likes of Lawrence and Donnacha Costello. There's also another Run EP in the pipeline but maybe the most interesting development is the conception of a new label - Items and Things - together with Magda and Marc Houle which should take flight in the spring. If that's not enough, there's a full-on, five week Minus tour of the US on the horizon. Richie, Magda, Marc and Troy will set off in May (complete with monster tour bus) for what can only be described as a next generation magical mystery tour during which they'll take in 25 cities. They probably won't be stopping in Muncie but it's a sign of just how much his stock has risen over the past couple of years and confirmation that a solid work ethic, positive thinking and a total dedication to the cause always bears fruit in the end.

ROB HALL

ROB HALL
Rob Hall's style is genuinely refreshing, distinctive, and energetic. The defining characteristic of his performances is in his ability to expertly blur the line between techno, electronica, industrial, ebm, rave, and electro. He sensitively move between these genres without losing flow or momentum, creating a cohesive but constantly shifting set, while managing to tailor his selections to suit the performers he is playing with on the night and for the entertainment of the audience he is playing for. Rob began his career at techno night Megatripolis held weekly at the legendary London venue Heaven. His first of many appearances there was with Autechre in the summer of 1992. Rob Hall's connection to Autechre is long established, and indeed Autechre have been his most valued friends and biggest supporters. He has played support DJ on most of the highly successful Warp duo's tours over the last 12 years. Rob has also contributed to numerous productions, remixes and live sets as part of the Gescom project, a collective that includes a diverse range of producers, including Autechre and Mego artist Russell Haswell, to Skam Records' Andy Maddocks, Bola, and Mike Williamson. Many DJ's and Producers cite the work of Autechre and Gescom as being highly inspirational on their work, including Radiohead, LFO, Surgeon, Coil, Oscar Mulero, Mark Broom and Exium. Since 1995 Rob has promoted and been resident DJ at numerous club events in his home city of Manchester, bringing artists like Aphex Twin, Plaid, Boards of Canada, Altern 8, Matthew Herbert, Team Doyobi, Mike Dred, Freeform, Req, Squarepusher, Ceephax Acid Crew and Berlin's Pole to play in there, often for the first time. From 1995 to 2006, he also worked closely with Andy Maddocks and Ged O'Hara running the highly revered and respected Skam Recordings label, releasing music from artists including Gescom, Bola, Shadowhuntaz and Boards of Canada. Over the last 15 years, in addition to playing at intimate electronica nights around the World, Rob has also performed at many high profile events and festivals including Sonar, Coachella, All Tomorrow's Parties, Phoenix Festival, opening for Bjork in Iceland, and Warp's 10th Birthday Party. Rob has always happily incorporated new technology into his set up. These days he's usually playing his sets using Finalscratch. This has added a new dimension to his performance and means he has an even wider range of music (including unreleased material and re-edits) to choose from when he plays. After 15 years of refusing to compromise or dumb down his sound, Rob Hall's skills are constantly in demand and he is widely regarded as one of the most talented and influential DJs in his field, with Mark Broom, Surgeon, Regis, Ellen Allien, Meat Beat Manifesto, Andrea Parker, Plaid, LFO, Squarepusher, Speedy J, Marco Passarani and Adam X all happy to wax lyrical about his sets.

Hot City

Hot City
Due to their unfeasibly low attention spans, and bored of trawling the earth looking for new human producers, the friendly people at RAMP opened their cybernetic research department, to create new and exciting robotic producers. First, they made a rave robot, which predictably they grew bored of. They then went onto make a 2step robot, which again, they grew bored of. Upon relaising that cybernetics and robotics was no the way to feed the void boredom created, they disguarded their robots in the ditch behind the office. The two robots began talking, and quickly sparked up a friendship. One night after drowning their sorrows with many Peach Daiquiri's, the two robots fell into each other's arms and had hot drunken robot sex, and 2step robot fell pregnant. Nine months later, there was a tap on the RAMP Recordings back door, followed by the patter of robot feet running away. Upon opening the door, they saw a basket, containing a robot child and a note, which read:

Dave Angel

Dave Angel
Born in Chelsea, the son of a Jazz musician, Dave Angel's first musical instrument (appropriately) was a drum at the noisy age of eight. Not one for conforming, even at the early age, Angel spent little time in school, preferring truancy to chemistry and the music room to the classroom. 1988 and the explosion of acid house in London and the rest of the country seemed to be the major break for Angel, who at the time was pioneering this unbelievable new sound on radio Phaze One. A well known pirate radio station in the capital. The technological explosion which was to rock pre conceived musical conceptions established the young DJ who found himself proclaimed as One of the major techno talents in Britain.(Echoes March 1992). DJing formed a natural progression into the recording process and two weeks recording at home with two basic turntables and two tape decks and a child Casio keyboard (yes a child's!!) in 1989 bore the fruits of his first musical excursion a remix of The Eurhythmics Sweet Dreams somewhat controversial but eminently successful. Angel's reworking of the track created such a massive buzz in the clubs that RCA were forced to officially release the track and incredibly it charted and climbed to No 23 in the UK National Charts first time round. Since this initial success Dave has not lost his drive to create music which continues to be regarded as some of the bravest and influential dance music this country produces. Heavily influenced by the Detroit sound he has subsequently released singles and Ep's of astonishing quality for Polydor/Love, OuterRythum, Fnac, Island, R S, Outrage and Apollo imprints, all of which have sold well and received a barrage of critical acclaim. Dave was also solely responsible for the Classic Sea's Of Tranquillity EP which was hailed as a landmark release by the Techno intelligence. Notable remixes include work for such luminaries as Orbital, Sun Electric, Carl Cox, Robert Armani, Juan Atkins, Spooky, James, 4hero, Roni Size, Underworld. The list goes on and on...

K-Dust

K-Dust
Everybody has his sins of youth, and so K-Dust started spinning at the age of 16 at parties of the local sportclubs and other strange societies. But because of this experiences he developed a broad knowledge of different styles of music. A few years later he could not longer hide his love for electronic music. At that point he had his first modest gigs. Because things went to slow in his opinion he started organising his own parties with some friends (like dj Daemon). The concept Cruisin Beats was born and still well known in the area. His style depends on the setting and his mood and flows from very deep house to pumping techno, but always filled with trippy soundscapes and with an always ongoing groove. He played together with Ben Long, Space dj's, Big Hair, Michel De Hey, Trish Van Eynde, Fabrice Lig, Tomaz, Laidback Luke (in his pre-commercial days), Darren Roach, Jack de Marseille, St-Dic, Smos & Baby B, Koenie, Les Craven, Prinz, After a few calm years he's back with a new concept: Future Past. At this super-deluxe-great party he will invite one of his influences of the past. Two conditions: it has to be a long time ago they played in Belgium and they still experience music in an inventive way.

Tomaz

Tomaz
The musical roots of Tomaz sprung from his father's collection (ranging from classical over country to French chanson and pop music) to the new wave and rock scene of the 70's and 80's. This was his sole inspiration for his early Dj days. It wasnt long before he started to introduce the first house and techno tunes to those wave/rock parties and the Belgian airwaves on local radio stations. His obsession for music drove him towards a job at the BCM (now Enterprise) record store, where he still works today guiding music-crazed lovers through the musical jungle. In the late nineties Tomaz took it to a new level when he gave a first shot at production with Kobbe. That was the birth of several 12"es on labels like Re-Load and Future Frontier. Next in the line of production were the successful collaborations with the Filterheadz ("More House", the latin techno hit "Los Hijos del Sol" and the major worldwide clubhit "Sunshine" on Carl Cox' Intec label). "Sunshine" is one of the best selling singles on Intec and is still being re-pressed today, 4 years post-release. This was the moment when Tomaz moved from the local radio stations to the Belgian national radio Studio Brussel where he became the techno programmer for the weekly show Switch. The show has just started its sixth season and continues to bring the best electronic music to an international audience. Alongside techno, Tomaz also programmes future hits and best classics on the same radio show. 2005 saw the release of the follow up single to "Sunshine". The Saturn Moons EP once again proved the musical diversity of Tomaz. After the latin flavoured releases, "Titan" is a dreamy, string-fuelled anthem, that like it's predecessor, is played by all the big names, whether they are techno, house or trance dj's. The future will bring more collaboration with the likes of Stanny Franssen, Sam Ostyn, Redhead, to name a few.

Sound Of Stereo
Sound of Stereo is a dj-duo from Belgium, playing music styles such as fidget (in their early years), electro and techno. Members are Jochen Sablon and Vincent De Boeck, both living near Belgium's capital Brussels. Their collaboration started trough an internet forum, where they were looking for a musical partnership. Living in the same area and sharing the same passion for electronic music, they officially started their common career in the beginning of 2008 by signing to the infamous Lektroluv Records.
Since the start of their carreer they played in about every European country, toured the United States, Australia and Asia and were on the line up of A-list events around the globe such as 10 Days Off (Belgium), I Love Techno (Belgium), Electric Daisies Carnival (LA), Amsterdam Dance Event (The Netherlands), Future Music Festival (Australia), Beatpatrol festival (Austria), Tomorrowland (Belgium) and many more.
After DJ'ing for over 3 years, they decided that it was time for something new, time for a next step. A next step that they found in the form of a liveshow combining their older, current and unreleased material into one energetic liveshow!

AGORIA

AGORIA
Real Name: Sebastien Devaud Profile: Influenced by Jazz and Detroit Techno, Sebastien Devaud, aka Agoria, is the latest in a long line of talented artists to emerge from the ever fertile French electronic scene. Agoria's style is minimalistic, dirty, subversive french electronica. Starting off his career with a hectic DJing schedule playing at many international clubs alongside renowned artists such as Jeff Mills, DJ Hell, Kevin Saunderson, Carl Cox, Colin Dale, Joey Beltram, Ritchie Hawtin and Christian Vogel to name but a few, Agoria has become an important figure of the European techno scene, developing a unique groove and approach to the dancefloor. With an opera singer parent, Agoria had been in a musical environment all his life when, in 1997, he fervently began to produce his own material. His fresh sound attracted a number of French independent labels such as UMF, Tekmics, Zebra 3 and A-Traction whilst being play-listed by the finest International DJs (Laurent Garnier, Dave Clarke, Sven Vath, Luke Slater and DJ Hell are among his supporters). In 2000, he was the first DJ to be taken on by the prestigious FAIR, a French support fund for new acts, signing his first publishing contract with Peer Music the same year.

BUTCH

BUTCH
Butch is a DJ, producer and remixer. As soon as he steps behind the decks or into his studio his only ambition is to find the perfect sound which transforms the dancefloor into an ecstatic crowd. His unique productions and remixes transcends between Neo-Trance, Techno and Minimal and are defined through their high quality sound productions and the trademark sounds, which have enabled him to release productions on renowned labels such as Great Stuff, Craft Music, BluFin and Stil vor Talent (Oliver Koletzki's label). His first production for Craft Music, an impulsive remix for Whebba's production, Mary's Army found world-wide recognition with Key-DJs and fans of electronic music. Shortly afterwards his first own single followed for Tomcraft's label entitled Life is Deadly. This production found support with DJ greats such as Deep Dish, John Acquaviva, Benny Benassi and Oliver Koletzki. Already mastered is his follow-up for Great Stuff called the Line which boasts remixes by Oxia, Pig & Dan and Swen Weber, which presumably will be released in September 2007. His newest project is a remix for probably one of the most wanted producers of minimal-techno at the moment. Stay tuned

DOMINIK EULBERG

DOMINIK EULBERG
Dominik Eulberg, born in 1978 in Westerwald, Germany is an electronic music artist and DJ who has released numerous singles as well as full-length albums on labels such as cocoon recordings and Traum Schallplatten. He occasionally works as park ranger in German National parks, an occupation he plans to pursue full time in the near future after retiring from music. Dominik's fascination for electronic music began at a very young age. The radio show "Clubnights" with Sven Väth was a major early influence. At the age of 15 he started buying records and learned to DJ. From the very beginning he has given his attention to innovative and experimental records. In 1995 he bought himself his own equipment in order to give free rein to his creativity and to start appearing as a live act. Later he ended up in the city of Bonn where he started studying ecological geography. Besides music, nature is the most important thing for him and also provides inspiration for his songs. His first publications appeared on Matthias Schaffhäuser´s label WARE and on Raum Music, a label settled in Frankfurt. Shortly after, he met Riley Reinhold and Jaqueline Klein, which resulted in a collaboration on the labels Traum Schallplatten and Trapez. It is on this label. where his first album Flora and Fauna was published. Further releases on Platzhirsch Schallplatten and Cocoon Recordings come later. Eulberg has also made a name for himself as a remixer, and in the course of that has put noted artists through the acoustic hoop, including DJ Hell, Roman Flügel, Le Dust Sucker, Tiefschwarz, Einmusik and Nathan Fake. All kinds of sounds of nature set out the repertoire of sounds in his songs and give an organic, vivid character to his tracks. From the croaking of frogs to the cackling of birds, Dominik Eulberg always finds enough room for singing animals in his songs. That can be seen clearly if you look at some of his track titles, such as for example Basstölpel (bass gannet) 2004 Groove Magazine, the specialist magazine for electronic music, made him Newcomer of the year in 2004 and third best producer. His first album Flora and Fauna was elected third best by a reader's survey in the German magazine Raveline and fifth best album of the year for 2004 by both The Groove and De:Bug. Dominik was also nominated for the German Dance-Music Award in the categories Best Remix and Best Newcomer. 2005 The Groove elected him producer of the year and third best national DJ. Furthermore, five of his remixes appeared in the top 20 of the annual charts. By the magazine Raveline he was voted as second-best Remixer and Newcomer and also his remix for Oliver Koletzki was number 2. Also, he was voted as fourth-best act and fifth-best national DJ. 2006 Dominik Eulberg was again nominated for the German Dance-Music-Awards in the categories "Best Producer" and Best Remix".

METROBOX

METROBOX
Antwerp-born producer and singer Metrobox has not been doing nothing since he last enjoyed the sunset at the river Schelde. He's been working with artists such as Marcin Czubala, Social Disco Club and Red D, releasing records on labels such as We Play House, Mobilee, 8Bit and Broken Music, while performing live and playing dj sets in places such as Weekend, Golden Gate, Zur Wilde Renate, Zur Möbelfabrik and ://About Blank in Berlin, SQ club in Poznan and the Mobilee cruise in Barcelona.

He likes it deep, raw, analogue and doesn't like music business bull shit. Blessed with a voice that is perfect for intimate house grooves and with a handful of synthesizers, drum computers and instruments at his hands, he takes time to put soul in his music and create a genuine vibe. Currently working on music for We Play House, Other Heights and a mysterious project called Fellowship of the Funk, it's clear he's joined forces with the strong current of no nonsense quality electronic music hailing from his home country Belgium, but stretching far beyond it's all too much debated borders.

Miss Kittin

Miss Kittin
Miss Kittin (real name Caroline Hervé) is an electro vocalist and DJ. She was born in Grenoble, France in 1973. At age 22 she began DJing, spinning records in France, Moscow and Chicago with Mike Dearborn. Soon after she met DJ Hell in Marseille who wanted her to record for his International DeeJay Gigolos label. She presented him with the EP Champagne that she recorded with The Hacker. Miss Kittin & The Hacker released First Album in 2001. Several tracks, such as 1982 and Frank Sinatra, became anthems of the electroclash scene.

Kittin expressed an interest in the visual arts - she studied both contemporary and graphic arts. As time progressed, however, Kittin found herself emulating her parents' musical tastes by developing an interest in musical genres ranging from classic, jazz, funk, and disco to English Pop. Finding her niche in Electronic Music in 1991, Kittin raved all around the country before doing her first mix in April of 1993. Her first set came one year later in 1994, at which time she started her career with Tekmics Booking Agency, playing in the famous Dragon Ball wild parties of Southern France.

In pursuit of other opportunities, Kittin left France in 1996 and relocated to Geneva, Switzerland, where she would join the Mental Groove Record Posse one year later. Through years of an exciting and mobile career as a DJ, Miss Kittin is confident with her own personal sound. She states, "I get quickly bored when I listen to the same sound. DJs have to take risks, without only thinking about what people want to hear. Some people say I'm too technical. That's true, but this technique also gives me the freedom to concentrate only on music."

She has become one of the most important figures in electroclash, working with Felix da Housecat, Chicks on Speed, and Golden Boy. In 2002, she released a techno music compilation under her own name (Miss Kittin On The Road). Her debut solo CD I Com has elements from different electronic styles and is more experimental than her previous records.

She collaborated with Sven Väth, Steve Bug, Ellen Allien (for remixes).

In 2006, she released Miss Kittin Live at Sonar, recorded at the famous electronic music festival Sonar at Barcelona. She plays her own tracks, among others tracks from Aphex Twin, Modeselektor, Boom Bip. 2006 also saw the release of a double-disc CD Miss Kittin: Bugged Out.

Two years in the making and almost four years since her debut album I Com, Miss Kittin announced her second album, BatBox for a February 2008 release. BatBox comprises thirteen original songs, all composed whilst touring throughout the world.
