The Subtitles

The Subtitles
There are 3 artists that share the name "The Subtitles". The Subtitles are a 4-piece electro-rock-chic band of lovers from St. John's, Newfoundland. The Subtitles formed in 2007 by 4 established musicians. National Songwriting Competition and singer-songwriter Kirk Penney with Maple Blues Nominee Darren "Boobie" Browne recruited Bryan Power (The Paranoids, Ruby's Babymaker) and Rebecca Cohoe (The Soft Intelligence)to create what has become "Newfoundland's Band to Watch in 2009" by the largest read publication in the province, "The Herald". Since then they have played with the likes of Joel Plaskett, Bob Wiseman and the Novaks. With 3 EPs in the books and a full-length album (recorded by Mark Neary of the Novaks) to be released this summer, 2009 will prove to be a busy one including their first major tour. The Subtitles have formed a healthy following in the Newfoundland market and have been compared to the Flaming Lips and "a Happy Cure".

Nailpin

Nailpin
Nailpin is a Belgian band.

After scoring big in their own country, with such hits as "Endless Conversations", "Movin' On" and "Together", from their debut album '12 TO GO', the boys decided to give the rest of the world a shot.

Their performance at the 2004 TMF awards (where lead singer Niko amused the crowd by stripping on stage and prancing around in a thong) caused Avril Lavigne to ask them to open for her on her Japan tour.

The band's influences include the bands Mest, Goldfinger, New Found Glory, Homegrown, MXPX and Green Day.

At the end of September '05, the band took part in MTV's Road Rally, in which they had to cross the USA from West coast to East Coast, earning their way and scoring shows. After starting in Los Angeles they ended up just beating Dutch competitor Di-rect in New York. When the serie was aired from November to January, it was a great hit.

The second Nailpin album "White Lies & Butterflies" was released in april 2006, while the band toured Japan for the second time.

Their newest album 'III' was released in april 2008, and got great reviews. The singles 'The Ending' and 'It's Allright' did good in the charts.

Flatcat

Flatcat
Flatcat is a punkrock band, that was founded in 1993 by brothers Dirk (guitar) and Wim (drums). In 1995 Minx and Alex joined the band and after some member changes this became the steady line-up. You can expect a good dose of westcoast punkrock, mixed with emo influences. The band appeared on a compilation cd for the first time in 1996, it was called "Best of Belgium, best Belgian punkbands". After lots of shows with bands like Janez Detd., Heideroosjes, Gwyllions, Undeclinable, I against I,... they were represented a few more times on different compilations. The Belgian punkrock scene got to know Flatcat better after they played support acts for the likes of The Vandals, The Ataris, Satanic Surfers,... In that same period Janez Detd. asked the band to contribute a song on their new single cd on Virgin records, and they got an offer out of Brazil. In January Flatcat travelled to Brazil for a promotional tour, where they played a headliner show for 500 people in Sao Paulo, even before they released a cd!! The first "piece of art" was a split cd with a Brazilian and two Canadian bands, who played on the Vans Warped Tour. It was released July 2001 on Highlight Sounds. Other licensed bands on there are Samiam, Bombshell Rocks, 59 times the pain, Good clean fun,... A second release on highlight sounds, and also the debut full lenght called "Better luck next time" saw the light of day around the end of February, just one week before the second Brazilian tour, where the band did 16 shows, recorded a videoclip and gave some cool tv-interviews in only 17 days!! As if this wasn't enough they also got a 1 hour radio special on Brazil's second largest radio station! The tour was a huge succes, an average of 300/400 people showed up every time with exceptions like Sao Paulo (750) and Volta Redonda (1200)! Back in Belgium they were supposed to take the time choosing between about 4 Belgian labels, but had to act fast because Groezrock was coming up, playing with Bad Religion, Sick of it all, Down by law, Guttermouth, ... Just about some of the biggest bands in punkrock and hardcore history. With the help from Green Leaf/Goodlife recordings, Eye Spy Records (a small independent label that's growing fast) released the European version from the debut album, and it's one of the better selling Belgian punkrock cd's ever! As a tribute to the underground scene they released a single 7" at the same time called "Beautiful in Venice", the song that makes everybody sing along on the many shows played troughout Belgium, time to invade the neighbour countries!

Marky Ramone

Marky Ramone
Marc Bell (better known as Marky Ramone, born July 15 1956, in Brooklyn, New York) is an American drummer. He is perhaps most known for being the drummer for the highly influential punk rock group Ramones. Marc Bell started playing drums when he was 16, for hard rock band Dust. He recorded two albums with the band, before getting into the punk scene in the early 1970s, He played drums with Jayne County, BackstreetBoys (Not to be confused with the Backstreet Boys) and The Voidoids. After two years with the latter, Bell left in pursue of a new band. About that time, Tommy Ramone decided to quit the Ramones in 1978 to concentrate on managing and producing the band. After being asked by Johnny Ramone and Dee Dee Ramone to join, he accepted, and received the name of Marky Ramone. Marky played drums with the Ramones for 15 years. He left the band in 1983 to get rid of his addiction to alcohol (or "to fight his demons" as he put it in his own words) and was replaced by Richie Ramone. He returned in 1987 and played with the band up until their retirement in 1996[1]. Since playing with the Ramones Marky has produced two albums as Marky Ramone and the Intruders in the 1990s, both re-issued on the Start Of The Century double CD/LP, released 2006. In 1996, Marky joined Dee Dee Ramone and his wife to play with The Ramainz, a tribute band to the Ramones. In 2000, Marky joined Joey Ramone, lead vocalist of the Ramones, to record Joey's only solo album, entitled Don't Worry About Me. That year he also joined the touring incarnation of horror punk progenitors The Misfits, with Jerry Only of the original Misfits and Dez Cadena of Black Flag. He toured extensively with the band on its 25th anniversary tour, and recorded one album with them, Project 1950, released 2003. He left the band in 2005. On Monday, March 2002, Marky was inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, at New York's Waldorf Astoria as a member of the Ramones. He recorded some albums with his solo band Marky Ramone & the Speedkings, as well as many 7" releases. Marky Ramone & the Speedkings toured the world from 2002 to 2003. In September 2004, Marky released a Ramones DVD entitled Ramones: Raw, which featured footage of the band while they went on tour all over the world. The footage is courtesy of Marky Ramone and his video library. The DVD was finished just in time to include commentary from Johnny Ramone, who died from prostate cancer on September 15, 2004. The commentary also includes Marky Ramone and producer John Cafiero. Most recently, Marky toured around the world for a 'spoken word' tour, where he would speak about his time with the Ramones, along with photos. He now tours with his band, Marky Ramone and Friends, and plays for punk rock supergroup Osaka Popstar. He also hosts the Marky Ramone Punk Rock Blitzkrieg radio show on Sirius Satellite Radio. In 2006, Joe Queer stated he has a project in the works with Ben Weasel, Marky Ramone and B-Face.

The Donnas

The Donnas
The Donnas are an American all-female rock band from Palo Alto, California. After gathering a cult following since their May 1993 debut, the band achieved major commercial success in the late-90s and afterward. All band members were born in 1979. As best friends, they formed in the 8th grade to play for their school's "Day on the Green." The only girl band in Palo Alto, they were relatively unknown until they were out of high school. They are all self-taught musicians and practiced in Castellano's garage nearly every day during high school. They are sometimes described as a punk band but the band themselves deny any kind of affiliation with the punk rock movement. Experimenting with different musical styles, they underwent a variety of band names (Screen, Raggedy Anne, and The Electrocutes) before settling on The Donnas. They worked with producer Darin Raffaelli for their first two albums, the first of which, simply called The Donnas, was entirely written by Raffaelli and released on his own Superteem! record label. (It was later re-released on Lookout! Records.) They took a week off of their senior year of high school to tour Japan and experimented with riot grrrl as The Electrocutes. They signed with Lookout! Records. As the band grew, they were urged to sign with a major label company. In 2001, they signed with Atlantic Records. In 2002, the Donnas released Spend the Night. The album was their mainstream breakthrough, spawning the hit single "Take It Off" and appearances on "Total Request Live," "Saturday Night Live," "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno", and "The Late Show with David Letterman". In the summer of 2003 they played the main stage at Lollapalooza. In 2004 they released their sixth album Gold Medal. Some of their influences include KISS, L7, Bikini Kill, Shonen Knife, The Muffs, Guns N' Roses, R.E.M., The Ramones, and Bratmobile. Until the release of 2004's Gold Medal the band used pseudonyms. Each member was known as "Donna" followed by the first initial of their surname (e.g. Brett was known as Donna A). They decided to drop the stage names prior to the release of Gold Medal to present an image appropriate for the more mature sound they had adopted on the new album.

Supersuckers

Supersuckers
The Supersuckers are an American garage punk band. They are the self-proclaimed "Greatest Rock 'n' Roll Band in the World." Following the relative success of their 1997 foray into country music with the release of Must've Been High, they have also been known to play country shows under various names, including, of course, The Supersuckers. As of April 2005, the members are Eddie Spaghetti on bass and lead vocals along with Rontrose Heathman and Dan "Thunder" Bolton on guitars. Drummer and original member Dancing Eagle recently parted ways with the band while guitarist Dan "Thunder" Bolton is on temporary hiatus. But now he is back after taking a long needed break from the road. Dusty from Agent Orange handled drums for a bit, but the new, permanent drummer is Scott Churrilla from The Reverand Horton Heat. The Supersuckers formed in 1988 as The Black Supersuckers in Tucson, AZ. The original line-up was Eddie Spaghetti on bass, Dan "Thunder" Bolton and Rontrose Heathman on guitars, Dancing Eagle on drums, and Eric Martin as the lead singer. In 1989, they moved to Seattle, WA. Here, Eric Martin left the band. The remaining members decided to continue as a four piece with Eddie Spaghetti taking over the vocalist role. They recorded numerous singles for various small labels before being signed to Sub Pop. A sampling of these are collected on the 1992 release The Songs All Sound the Same. Their first album with Sub Pop, The Smoke of Hell, was released in 1992. In 1995, guitarist Rontrose Heathman temporarily left the band. He was replaced by Rick Sims of the band Didjits for the recording of their third album, The Sacrilicious Sounds of the Supersuckers, and the subsequent tour. He returned for the recording of their fourth album, Must've Been High, which, as their first country album, was a major turning point for the band. Their fifth and final album with Sub Pop was their greatest hits release, 1999's How the Supersuckers Became the Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World. That same year they released their fifth studio album, The Evil Powers of Rock 'N' Roll. In 2001, the band formed their own record label, Mid-Fi Recordings. In addition to numerous singles and several live recordings, the band released their sixth studio album, Motherfuckers Be Trippin' on this label. In May of 2005, they released the singles collection Devil's Food. The Supersuckers latest release is a 2006 EP called Paid.

THE GODFATHERS

THE GODFATHERS
