Vocalist Pete Philly and producer/instrumentalist Perquisite met up for the first time in 2002 in Amsterdam, where both were living. Perquisite, who also ran the Dutch indie now jazz/hip-hop label Unexpected Records, liked what he heard in the Aruba-born singer and rapper, and by the next year the duo had issued its first EP, MindState. In 2005 it was followed by a full-length European release, including a guest appearance from Talib Kweli. In 2006, MindState came out in North America and Australia. In januari 2007 they released 'Remindstate', a remix version of Mindstate. Artists like Laidback Luke, Seiji and C-mon & Kypski remixed tracks. In 2007 they also releases their 2nd official album called 'Mystery Repeats', which reached the 2nd place in the Dutch album charts, best score ever for a Dutch hip hop act. Pete Philly & Perquisite bring HipHop with references at Jazz, broken beats, soul and even classic music. This dutch hiphop act performed on North Sea Jazz and Lowlands (dutch music Festival)and won the 'Zilveren Harp' in 2006. In October 2009 they gave their final performance at a sold-out Melkweg.

Aka The Junkies are Willie wartaal and Arjuna Schiks. Aka The Junkies are prominent faces in the Amsterdam after party circuit and with local dealers better known as the "Cheapskates". Willie Wartaal and Arjuna Schiks really got to know each other in rehab clinic Smith & Jones in Amsterdam. For them the reason for their rehabilitation was a mystery, but it sounded very logical to others around them. After being released from rehab, Willie Wartaal and Arjuna Schiks bond was so strong that they decided to join forces and make music together. Due to the many contacts they made while being in the rehab clinic, collaborations where made with Meikbar, Melle Mel, Hitmeister D, Mason(known for his mega hit Perfect with Princess Superstar) and Seymour Bits who all made a remix for their first hit single Konijntje. Besides the aka The Junkies project both Arjuna and Willie Wartaal have a solo career as well. Arjuna Schiks performs in many different clubs in Holland with a fresh and elevating electronic live set combining ambient tech-house en electro. His performance at one of the biggest festivals in Holland (Mysteryland) was one of the many highlights in his still young career as a musician. Arjuna Schiks currently competes in the finals of De Grote Prijs Van Nederland (one of the leading talent contests in Holland) which he is sure he is going to win, and is also producing an collaborating with Holland's finest producer and DJ 100%Isis and Club Roxy veteran DJ Dimitri.

Kleine Jay & Cartes is a Dutch Hiphop-duo from Den Bosch. Both of them are winners of the 'Grote Prijs van Nederland'(Big Prize of The Netherlands). Cartes was voted Public's favorite in 2006. Kleine Jay won the grand prize in 2007. The duo released his debut mixtape 'Wie wat Bewaart...' on 9 Februari as a preview for both of their solo-albums.

Peter Pan Speedrock was founded in 1996 in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. They came up with the slogan Eindhoven Rockcity to promote the thriving rock scene in the city, with other known bands like The Spades, 69 Charger, Stuurbaard Bakkebaard and many more. The three-headed band is full of energy and puts the pedal to the metal. Justus Anton (Jules) Deelder, born 24 November 1944 in Rotterdam (the Netherlands), is a multitalented poet, writer, actor, artist, dj and collector of jazz records. He is often referred to as the "nachtburgemeester van Rotterdam" (night mayor of the city of Rotterdam). Deelder released several albums containing his theatre shows and poetry. Furthermore, he released a number of albums with his favourite jazz music of the 1940s and 50s, to prevent them from being forgotten. Former lead singer from Dutch band The Scene. After a break up from this band in the late nineties, The Lau released two solo-albums.

KV groeide op met veel muziek, R&B, Soul en later Hiphop. In deze periode ontwikkelde hij zijn passie als artiest. Zijn grootste ambitie was altijd al rappen, maar nam het niet serieus. In 2000, verdiepte hij zich meer in teksten schrijven. Zo zat hij in verschillende teams en duo's zoals: Rhymes Connect, Hinderlijke Straat schoften. Terwijl KV zich zelf zoekt ontdekt hij dat filosoferen zijn ding is. Met Fenomeen begint hij het team Onderinvloed. Met de komst van Vito & Conflict werden de onderwerpen al snel serieuzer. Ze kregen goede feedback en werden snel bekend op de straat.. Als hij de link legt met Lastpac versnelt het proces en tekent hij bij Pitu Records. Met nummers als 'Hosselaar' en 'Snelle Laan' is het definitief. In combinatie met de producties van Sliscobars, creeeren zei ongekende klanken en een rauwe stijl. Uiteindelijk rolt hier dan ook de single 'Rolle als een G' uit. Dit in combinatie met een professionele videoclip wordt in 2006 officieel een stempel gezet op de stijl van KV . De thuisbasis, Pitu Records studio, geeft de ruimte om de creativieteit dag en nacht uit te voeren. Deze heren zijn dan ook zo productief dat er dagelijks kwaliteit geleverd wordt. Zijn levenservaringen vormen vaak het onderwerp van zijn muziek. En geeft hij de luisteraar een reeel beeld van de snelle laan.

Spinvis, is Erik de Jong, a Dutchman living in the suburban jungle of Nieuwegein, The Netherlands. In 2001, he produced his first album, Spinvis, in his attic with computers, samplers, musical instruments and other objects laying around. Most remarkable are his poetic lyrics, that are at times nonsensical and non-consecutive.

His third album, Dagen van gras, dagen van stro (Days of Grass, Days of Straw) was released in 2005. August 2007 saw Goochelaars en Geesten (Conjurers and Ghosts), a collection of earlier work including B-sides, unpublished tracks and songs produced under assignment.

In 2006 Spinvis teamed up with Simon Vinkenoog. Together they released a new album, titled Spinvis Combo / Ja! (Yes!). In 2007 they joined their performances in a festival act called Noga.

The Popprijs 2006 was awarded to Spinvis at the Noorderslag Festival in Groningen for his contribution to Dutch pop music.

Winston Bergwijn (Paramaribo, 20th April 1978), better known as Winne, is a dutch rapper from Rotterdam. He is signed to the Dutch hip-hop label Top Notch. After his EP Onoverwinnelijk he dropped his debut album Winne Zonder Strijd recently. In the late summer of 2005 Winne suddenly became known to a wider audience. His song "Top 3 MC" was released on the Internet by Kapitein Mo and is well received. Without promotionteam or an album in the store, he worked himself into the media. Several months later, the track "Pomp die Shit!" on the collection album "What's Da Flavor?". This is the final breakthrough in the Dutch rapscene. From this moment artists like Duvel Duvel invites Winne to the show. On Opgezwolle's ''Eigen Wereld'' he contributed in the song ''Volle Kracht''. On U-Niq's album Winne is heard twice.

[English] Because of the inexhaustible stream of musical talent from the East and West of the Netherlands it is easy to forget that the once highly productive South also still brings forth some interesting talents. For lately, in the shadows some have been busy polishing a rough diamond from the streets of Eindhoven: Kempi. The only twenty-one-year-old Kempi has his roots in the Netherlands Antilles and was raised in the city of lights as the middle son of no less than seven children. In a home with four brothers, two sisters and his mother he soon discovered that his house contained more hungry mouths than spoonfuls of food and that he had to pursue every available option that could help him with taking care of himself. It was therefore inevitable that he quickly came in contact with the law, and the last few years Kempi has spent as much time behind bars as he did roaming free. Unsurprisingly, today he is more focused on ways that can get him out of this situation. That one of the ways out might be through one of his hobbies, rapping, had not arisen to him yet. Influenced by guys like 2Pac, Lil Wayne and Dutch rapper Duvel, he frequently writes down what he goes through and sees around him, but the %u201CGramma Boy%u201D isn%u2019t seriously into hiphop yet. Only after a show with Drama (a melting pot of nationalities rapping in English, Dutch, Surinam and Papiamento) he realizes that this hobby of his could turn out to be his life saver. Some songs are recorded and displayed on the internet, the reactions are surreal. Suddenly he is transformed from the hustler from the streets into that rapper from South-East Brabant. With the help of DJ One-2 of the SpinMasters the first mix tape is crafted, that to everyone%u2019s surprise is downloaded over thirty thousand times. The track Zoveel Stress (So much Stress), for months on end topping the charts on Luvmusic.nl and examined by State Magazine, and also played regularly in defining hip hop radio shows takes care of the rest. It is the final confirmation that his hustle is leading somewhere. Er worden wat nummers opgenomen en op het internet tentoongesteld, de respons is onwerkelijk. Plotseling is hij, voor zijn omgeving, getransformeerd van die hosselaar op straat naar die rapper uit Brabant Zuid-Oost. Met hulp van DJ One-2 van de SpinMasters wordt een eerste mixtape in elkaar gezet, die tot ieders verbazing uiteindelijk meer dan het bizarre aantal van dertigduizend keer wordt gedownload. Het is de definitieve bevestiging dat deze hossel ergens toe aan het leiden is. Kempi zelf is verguld dat de bekroning van die hossel komt in de vorm van een TopNotch conract. "Te lauw" is zijn reactie op de huidige ontwikkelingen. De uitzichtloze situatie maakt plaats voor een nieuwe fase in zijn korte maar hectische leven. "Ik hoef niet meer te hosselen op straat nu. De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig ("Kids These Days") is a hip-hop group formed in Amsterdam, The Netherlands in 2005. The group is a 4-piece made up of Vieze Fur a.k.a. Vieze Freddie (Freddie Tratlehner), P. Fabergé (Pepijn Lanen), Willie Wartaal a.k.a. WiWa (Ollicio Locadia) and 'de Neger des Heils' (Bas Bron). They are known most notably for their chart-topping single Watskeburt?!, which then became Dutch slang for "what's up?!". In 2005 they released their debut album named Parels voor de zwijnen (pearls before swine*), featuring raps containing rather esoteric lyrics full of (partially made up) street language. With comical lyrics and an attitude telling they do not take themselves too seriously, they gained a unique position in the Dutch rap scene. Their main themes are alcohol, sex and drugs. All tracks on the group's debut album Parels voor de Zwijnen were produced by Bas Bron. Subsequent single releases include Voorjekijkendoorlopen ("Lookinfrontofyoukeeponwalking") and the Christmas-themed Ho Ho Ho (with Katja Schuurman). In July 2006, the group was featured on the song Poes in de Playboy of the Dutch reggae/ska band Luie Hond. In May 2007, they released the single Shenkie, for which a video clip contest was issued. The winning video can be seen here. Both singles were never released on album. Their second album, titled De Machine, was released on April 25, 2008, preceded by the single Hollereer on April 4. Gevreesd werd dat ""De Stofzuiger"" (een ode aan de fellatio, ""opgedragen aan alle moeders en kinderen"") de 2e hit zou worden, maar het werd ""Voorjekijkendoorlopen"", terwijl het debuutalbum ""Parels voor de Zwijnen"" volgens henzelf vol staat met ""het beste materiaal sinds midden 19e eeuw papier werd uitgevonden om bladmuziek op te schrijven"". Cilvaringz is a Wu-Family member from Tilburg, Holland. He is the very first international Wu-Tang member, gaining entrance after several unsuccessful trips to New York attempting to speak with RZA, the head of the Wu-Tang Clan. He eventually succeeded by meeting RZA's sister and convinced her to set up a meeting. After hearing his work, RZA decided to sign Cilvaringz to Wu-Tang Records. Cilvaringz has also released an instrumental album entitled The Mental Chamberz. In June 2007, and after much delay, Cilvaringz's first real solo album, I which featured production work and appearances by many Wu-Tang members and affiliates came out.

Boem, klatsch. Kick, snare. Zo eenvoudig kan het zijn. Sterker nog: zo eenvoudig was het toen Boemklatsch in 2001 opgericht werd. Een feestje op een boot, twintig euro, gratis zuipen en hiphopplaten draaien. Negen jaar later is een groepje feestende vrienden uitgegroeid tot een kleurrijk en energiek collectief dat bij boekingen zonder aarzelen een dak-eraf-garantie durft te geven. Een crew die verder kijkt dan zijn neus lang is en niet bang is om nog harder te feesten dan zijn eigen publiek. Boemklatsch begon oorspronkelijk als hiphopcrew. Kwam in thuisstad Utrecht een hiphopact op bezoek, dan was de naam Boemklatsch er altijd aan verbonden. Uitvalsbasis is in eerste instantie EKKO, later grote broer Tivoli. Hoogtepunt is een feest in een uitverkochte Tivoli in 2004, met alleen maar acts uit de eigen scene: samen met C-Mon & Kypski, Nobody Beats the Drum en Illicit brak Boemklatsch de tent af. Vanaf 2005 strijkt het collectief ook neer in Bitterzoet in Amsterdam. Ook toen al was te zien dat de Boemklatsch-mannen geen hiphoppuristen waren. Ze slepen de nieuwste dansstijlen mee in hun territorium en brengen een eigen stijl. Met een rauwe rand en een zwarte ziel. Even voorstellen dan maar? Boemklatsch bestaat uit drie dj's, een host en - om het plaatje compleet te maken - twee vj's. DJ en producer Mike Mago (Michiel Thomassen) is zelfs in de zomer te herkennen aan zijn muts, DJ en producer $jammie the Money (Sjam Sjamsoedin) aan zijn voorliefde voor felle kleurtjes en zonnebrillen en zijn lekkere lompe draaistijl. DJ Illvester (Cas Boland) is het breedst van het trio. Hij weet zelfs af en toe een rockplaat naadloos in te mixen. Dan is er spreekstalmeester Atactic (Dharmen Nokhai), de man die het liefst de hele dag door de megafoon praat. Duo Ramkraak (Roel Oude Nijhuis en Mark Assies) vult alle schermen met explosieve maar vooral creatieve visuals. Ook al eten de Boemklatschleden regelmatig buiten de deur - $jam zit in Nobody Beats the Drum, Atactic is bezig met eigen producties, die van derden en maakt deel uit van het illustere 207 en Mike Mago produceert met C-Code - Boemklatsch blijft de basis. De laatste jaren is het collectief in een stroomversnelling terechtgekomen. De verschillende leden beginnen steeds meer zelf te produceren. Begin 2008 wordt eigen label BMKLTSCH RCRDS opgericht, waarop een remix-EP van Mike Mago en C-Code verschijnt. Ook in Patronaat in Haarlem en in de Flexbar in Amsterdam staan inmiddels de Boemklatsch-feesten regelmatig op de agenda, en in de zomer van 2008 zijn de heren te zien op grote festivals als Lowlands, Rockit Open Air, deBeschaving, het Bevrijdingsfestival, Valtifest en Lief. Tijd voor de volgende stap. De eerste officiële cd Mixing In Action biedt alles wat je van Boemklatsch kunt verwachten: dirty electro, dikke bootybeats, baile funk en nog veel meer. Plus: eigen producties met verrassende gasten. De onnavolgbare Bimbo's (die van Malle Pietje) lenen hun stemmen aan Goudlokje, Jeugd van Tegenwoordig-coryfee P. Faberyayo doet mee op het onnavolgbare Spikkeltjes. Boemklatsch heeft zijn laatste plaat nog lang niet opgezet. Rocken tot je erbij neervalt!

Dio en Flinke Namen beginnen dit najaar met hun 'En Toen Was Er Licht' tour. Ze beloven iets neer te zetten dat nog niet eerder gedaan is en hun fans meer dan waar voor hun geld geven. Hoe? Door middel van een futuristisch decor zullen audio en visuals een bijzonder huwelijk sluiten. Door te investeren in een nog niet eerder vertoonde lichtshow die volledig interactief is aangestuurd door muziek en impulsen van de DJ's zullen de fans echte eyecandy voorgeschoteld krijgen.

Flinke Namen is a Dutch rap formation consisting out of producer The Flexican, MC Fit, MC Sef and MC Murth The Man-O-Script. The group started in 2004. They operate from Amsterdam.

Le Le (featuring Pepijn van De Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig) is het muzikale equivalent van een glas champagne uit een champagneglas.

Zwart Licht staat voor al het zwarte dat in een goed daglicht geplaatst wordt. Zwart Licht staat voor tegenstrijdigheid. Zwart Licht staat voor hiphop, de MC en de DJ, de essentie, Akwasi en Hayzee. Laatstgenoemden ontmoetten elkaar voor het eerst op de middelbare school, maar komen pas 5 jaar later op het idee om samen iets te beginnen. Hayzee, de instrumentale helft van Zwart Licht. Geboren in 1987 kreeg Hayzee hiphop zo met de paplepel ingegoten. Al was hij nog jong, toch herinnert hij tot de dag van vandaag de "CYO MTV RAPS" video's en de klassieke albums van de jaren 90. Begon met het maken van beats in 2003, beïnvloed door acts als Wu-Tang Clan, A Tribe Called Quest, Slum Village en N.E.R.D. In 2005 werd hij lid van een hiphopformatie genaamd "Diz Trikt" wat bestond uit Zacairo, DJ Game Ova, Frankstarr en Hayzee. Wegens verschillende kijkperspectieven op hiphop was dit echter niet vrijblijvend en ging de groep al vroeg uit elkaar. In ditzelfde jaar stak Hayzee samen met goede vriend FS Green The Black Album van Jay-Z in een nieuw soulful jasje. Dit werd goed ontvangen door de directe omgeving. Na wat pogingen en beproevingen gooide Hayzee Next Level het net op via Nalden en sindsdien groeit hij in zijn categorie, maar ook daarbuiten. Akwasi, de lyrische helft van Zwart Licht. Amsterdam, 1988. 13 Jaar later brengt Akwasi voor het eerst pen en papier in verband met elkaar op dichtende wijze. De taal en het ritmisch indelen van woorden boeide hem, maar pas na een jaar besloot Akwasi te beginnen met het oplezen van zijn teksten, dat uiteindelijk resulteerde in rappen. Beïnvloed door MC's als Stic.man, Saigon en Jadakiss, maar ook door de UK-Grime scene en acts als Bilal, Wu-Tang Clan, System Of A Down en Capelton, schreef Akwasi in 2003 nog steeds meer dan hij werkelijk opnam, waarna hij in 2006 de lijn overschreed en de focus nam op het rappen. Akwasi heeft opgetreden door heel Nederland met spoken word presentaties en is daarnaast enige tijd actief geweest als host op verscheidene plekken. Zwart Licht wordt live aangevuld door Leeroy, een nog jongere MC met meer delivery, flow en stamina dan menig Nederlandse "rapper". Leeroy zal sowieso wat verschrikkelijks ten hore brengen op Bliksemschicht. Na Bliksemschicht zal Zwart Licht Leeroy introduceren op zijn debuut-EP genaamd; Leeroy Draait Door. (2009) In Januari 2009 wordt de eerste wapenfeit "Bliksemschicht" gerealiseerd.

Jiggy Djé is a rapper who finds his roots in Amersfoort, the Netherlands. After dropping two albums with his crew DAC he has decided to do some solo projects plus a project with roommate SpaceKees. In September 2006 the first track from his upcoming album Noah's Ark was released. Which was followed by the album release in October. Noah's Ark is also the name of his own label. It is expected that his project with Spacekees will be released soon and the same goes for his other project with Dutch rap formation Kohfie Konnect Jiggy's latest album is Ark De Triomf, released in April 2009.

Kraantje Pappie also known as De Kraan, born in the Randstad and moved to Groningen when he was 12 years old. After this decision he stalled his judo carreer and started to develop a passion for music. In 2005 he came on stage as Kraantje Pappie, along with Arvid, Abbeye, The Reef and DJ Friss. Kraantje has contacts with the Blocnotes, Noah's Ark and Dope-D.O.D. and released his "Clubvoer Mixtape" in October 2008.

SpaceKees (real name Kees van den Assem) is a dutch MC. He's known for his collaboration with Terilekst with whom he formed the group Spacekees & Terilekst. In 2005 they released their album: "SpaceKees & Terilekst". He currently lives in a house in Amersfoort with another dutch MC, who goes by the name of Jiggy Djé. In 2008 SpaceKees came out with the mixtape: "Ren Nu Het Nog Kan" which was a warming up for his solo-album %"Meer Ruimte" (More Room).

Turk, who's real name is Önder Do Fan was born in Amsterdam-Noord. While he was still in his childhood, the family moved to Madrid, Istanbul and at last to Eindhoven. Back in the Netherlands he started writing his own raps, and joined "Militant Union" with who he participated at the Grote Prijs van Nederland. Later on he met SpaceKees in a coffeeshop, and they started recording. SpaceKees even asked Turk to join him and Jiggy Djé on stage as backup-MC. In 2008 his first EP was ready, entitled Turkse Pizza. This EP, produced by SirOJ, features raps from SpaceKees, Jiggy Djé, Heist Rockah, Willie wartaal en Vieze Fur. Later that year he released the Beondekijkuit mixtape and "De Kassier: Een Monnie Album" in 2009 where he's currently working on with FS Green. Next to his solo carreer, he started Bang Bros with Hoogvliet rapper Hef.

TYPHOON won 5 jaar geleden reeds de Grote Prijs van Nederland in de categorie R&B-Hiphop. In 2007 brengt hij zijn debuutalbum Tussen Licht en Lucht uit, waaruit blijkt dat hij over een groot sociaal engagement beschikt, dat hij op meesterlijke wijze in zijn raps & rhymes verwerkt.
