Een hybride spel van obscure en duistere beats dat je in vervoering brengt. Misanthrop is niet vies van progressive drum and bass waarbij hij voortdurend zijn grenzen aftast. Een slap in the face die schreeuwt naar meer. Afschuwelijk goed!
Net als Misanthrop is beathunter Phace ook een vaste waarde in de darkstepwereld: Een mindblowing mix van ritmisch experiment, diepe bass sounds en krachtige remixen gekruid met vloeiende synths.

DJ Hidden (HOL) Hidden is ondertussen 10 jaar bezig, de jongste vier jaar releaset hij ook op verschillende labels en maakt hij (nog meer) naam in de darkstepwereld. Come out come out, wherever you are!

Dub Elements (SP) Dit opkomend dynamisch duo creeërt hun eigen stijl, te herkennen aan de hardcore en breakbeat invloeden. Nederland, Duitsland, Portugal, Slovenië, Italië en Romenië hangen al hun lippen, nu is het jouw beurt!

Antichristus Een Belgische melange van drum 'n bass, jungle, hardcore, darkstep, breakcore... You name it! Hun van de potgerukte mishmash is brutaal, donker en hard. Zorg ervoor dat je knieën knikken van het dansen en niet van de angst.... OMFG!

Pukaz en Mesca Cresst residents die zorgen voor een rollercoaster van pumping drum and bass. Adrenaline overdose! Bereid je voor op een huiveringwekkende en intense beleving. Moehahahaha.

Live on stage: Baby Cham (JAM). Deze grammy nominated rising star liet menige mond openvallen met zijn bumpin' singles Ghetto Story en Vitamin S. Getekend bij Atlantic Records en beschouwd als de nieuwe Sean Paul. Sloot deals met Foxy Brown, Akon, Keke Palmer, Junior Reid, Carl Thomas en zo voort. Cheers Cham, you're da' man!

Dynamq Sounds Incl. (SUD):
Startte in 2000 maar hun officiële kick off was in 2006. Dynamq Sounds Intl won in 2011 de Gulf War Sound Clash in Houston, TX. Van Kenya tot Canada toerden ze de wereld rond, nu zetten ze voet aan wal op de Petrolgrond!

Athys & Duster: deze energiepillen bundelen hun krachten in de studio en achter draaitafels en dat mondt uit in een stormachtige en onaards goeie sound! Een release op Titanrecords, een optreden op DnB Arena TV, een plaatsje op de compilatie van die laatste én de Drum&Bass Arena award: niet slecht voor 2 mannen uit (de buurt van) Antwerpen. Belgian drum'n'bass stepping up! De kanjer Barfight breekt nog steeds potten: een lekkere brok grimey, dark, uptempo, old school & ravey bass music.
Meer bass & beats worden geleverd door Sleemo (dubstep from Walliforia, Belgique), Kambo Don (jungle alter ego van Raggamuffin Whiteman) , en DJ MadMax.

Na een jaar van feestjes op verschillende plaatsen in Antwerpen viert City Flow hun eenjarig bestaan.

Op dit verjaardagsfeest komt het overgrote deel van het dnb-spectrum aan bod, maar er is ook plaats voor dub, jungle, dubstep & core.

Meer dan ooit brengt City Flow het zwarte, explosievere kantje van drum&bass naar boven met oa Shogun legendes als Alix Perez (van eigen bodem) & Spectrasoul. Daarnaast komen Britse dancefloor heroes Heist en Erb n Dub je overvallen met hun nieuwste bombs, dubs & smashers. Dit alles ingeleid door Brusselse Orphans & productietalent Bluemotion. Ook zijn City Flow founders Gunman & Judah zeer blij om de nieuwe officiële City Flow Residents voor te stellen, labelowners van G13 & Smokecreen, oh yeah: Rowney & Propz!

Area 2 - Horny Room
Een zeer gevarieerde internationale selectie van dubstep, core, jungle, techno, minimal & grime vullen de Horny Room op deze verjaardag met helden als Bong-Ra, Schall & Rauch en Bun Zero.
P Mero zal openen, gevolgd door Journey & Geeks en dubsteptalent Antics.

Area 1 - Main Room

Hard-step en dark-step door Limewax (Ukr), die in Petrol zijn allereerste liveset ooit komt spelen. PRSPCT labelbaas Mr Prospect (Nl) aka Trasher mixt hardcore, drum'n'bass en darkstep. The Panacea (Ger) heeft niet alleen een zeer explosieve sound van hardcore techno, drum'n'bass, jungle en industrial, de man is ook het zien waard.
Cooh (Bul) heeft op zijn 28e al 42 vinyl en 12 cd-releases op zijn naam. In Area 1 geeft hij eerst zijn innerlijke demonen vrij spel, daarna treedt hij in de dubstep Area 2 nog op onder zijn "rustiger" Balkansky alias. En er zijn nog meer geweldplegers in Area 1: The Sect (UK), Counterstrike (Cz), Dub Elements (Sp), Wasp en Pukaz!

Area 2 - Horny Room

Die bass moet je niet horen, die bass moet je voelen!
Broke Note (UK) is 'raised on a diet of pure filth' en komt voor een live set. 'The darkest, most frightening tunes that have ever found their way onto vinyl'. BAM!
Bong-Ra (Nl) is een Nederlandse breakcore legende die op deze avond een dubstep set speelt met crossovers naar metal, gabber, jazz, rave en jungle. (ja, wij zijn ook benieuwd...). More bass? More bass! Daar zorgen nog Nicon, Syndaesia, Digid, Mesca en Balkansky (Bul) voor.

Petrol maakt zich op voor een nieuwe avond drum 'n' bass. Met op de line-up 2 dikke kleppers uit de UK en jong Belgisch talent.

Uit hun koffer vol ervaring zullen de heren van Total Science (UK) opdiepen: stuff van hun eigen labels (CIA , Advanced, Q-project), talloze collabs en hits (Never Had A Dream?). We verwachten ook tracks van hun in mei te verschijnen nieuwe ep Ghostrider, waarop ze samenwerken met S.P.Y.

Meer d&b uit de UK komt van een andere legende uit het genre: dj SS (UK) (The World of Drum & Bass, ...)!!

Belgisch talent krijgt ook vanavond weer zijn plaats en kans.
Hookerz (B): lid van het STEAMteam uit Gent. Uit Leuven komt Tesla (B): de man achter Deafinition.

Venetian Snares (Can): al tien jaar geluidsterrorist. Godfather en tongue-in-cheek provocateur van de breakcore, met wereldwijd een schare hardcore fans. Dubstepper avant la lettre. Een hoop aliassen en schuilnamen (is dat niet hetzelfde?) en toch gewoon Funk als familienaam. Alsof er op Rihanna's pas 'Von Beethoven' zou staan!
Zijn jongste plaat 'My So Called Life' verscheen vorig jaar op Planet Mu/Funk: stepping back from the brink of brutalized acid back towards the go-for-broke breakcore he made his name on. Klinkt als: playing jungle at a French speedcore party.

Hotel Jamaica & Donkey Punch: The UK - Union Jack Edition

Een avond vol reggae, dance hall, drum and bass en dubstep. Met in de Jamaican Room de legendarische Britse dancehall- en reggae DJ David Rodigan. De Londonse General Levy komt de Hotel Jamaica room flink op temperatuur brengen met zijn set waarin grote hits als Champagne Body, Next Dimension en Incredible niet mogen ontbreken. Ook België is goed vertegenwoordigd door Hotel Jamaica residents Civalizee en straight outta Kontich City: Young Gun Superior.


De Horny Room verandert weer in de Donkey Punch room. Met niemand minder dan een van de bekendste MC's uit de grime scene: D Double E. En of het nu dubstep, drum 'n bass of hip-hop is: de ronkende bassen worden genadeloos aan elkaar gemixt door Epic Fail, Sleemo en Point.Blank.

Petrol serveert dubstep en drum'n'bass!

Van over 't water komt TC (UK) overgestoken en uit de Oostenrijkse bergen halen we de slopende beats van het populaire duo Camo & Krooked (At) naar de drum'n'bass room.
Ook eigen talent is ruim vertegenwoordigd met gevestigde en nieuwe Belgische namen: Leuvenaren Etnik & Fuzz (B) stonden deze zomer op grote drum'n'bass events zoals Star Warz, Laundry Day en Mystic.
Petrol dnb-resident Murdock (B) is er natuurlijk bij: al 10 jaar zet hij de Belgische drum'n'bass scene op haar kop - naast internationale grootheden als Goldie, Grooverider, Ed Rush & Optical, Pendulum en Heel Vele Anderen. Om van zijn compilaties en partyconcepten nog te zwijgen!

De dubsteproom wordt gehost door Antwerp City Flow. Hun residents Judah (B) en Gunman (B) staan paraat met buddies (m/v) Journey & Geeks (B), Daily (B) en Bagheera (B). Headliner in de City Flow dubsteproom is Quest (UK): have a rave on the sea bed with this one versitile motherfucker!

Na het verjaardagsfeest van Civalizee, met een volle en uitgelaten Petrol, is Hotel Jamaica terug!
Live on stage (for the 1st time in Belgium): Romain Virgo from Jamaica: this young singer is dominating the dancehall with tons of uplifting hits like Who Feels It Know It, Love Doctor, Cyaan Sleep, I Wanna Go Home and so much more. His voice is a sensation: no autotune needed here! Jamrock Sound with dj Waxfiend & The Crew are guests from Holland, dj Babybang and Hotel Jamaica residents Civalizee Foundation (full crew) are hosting!

DONKEY PUNCH (Horny Room)
Now this one is gonna be very special... one of Belgium's drum'n'bass leaders Murdock will be hijacking the Donkey Punch Room and transform it inna heavy bass hell, celebrating the release of his second Jungle Fever MixCD compilation! Murdock invites some of the freshest bass talents around for this night: Chrispy (UK, Stupid Fly/ 2 Much Bass), Dubba Jonny (live dubstep from the UK, Tongueflap records), Atmospherix (IM:LTD, Rubik, Radar), Epic Fail (Cafe Capital, Donkey Punch) and Phanta.

Drum'n'bass room
Commix is een dj duo uit Cambridge, waar je geen standaard drum&bass van mag verwachten: ze smokkelen ook soul, techno en house in hun sets. Hun succesvolle Call To Mind album verscheen pas nog in een remixversie, een volledig nieuw eigen album is op komst op Metalheadz.
De Nederlanders van Black Sun Empire waren al eens te gast in Petrol. Deze keer brengen ze nieuw materiaal van hun Lights and Wires sampler mee. Dutch&bass!
Dubstep in Petrol betekent ook: Murdock! Uit respect stellen we hem niet nog eens aan jullie voor ;-)
Ook uit Antwerpen is Sub-Skit: een beloftevolle (vrouwelijke) dubstep en d&b dj die stilaan ook de eerste productie- en remixstappen zet. Female partytune selection & silky skills!

City Flow dubstep room
Phaeleh (UK) is een klassiek geschoolde muzikant die in 2006 werd gebeten door het dubstepmonster. Diepe dubstep met veel emotie en de juiste sfeer. Support van ondermeer Skream, N-Type, Scuba en Kryptic Minds. Gewoon geil!

Nog op de affiche staan Science en Gaz, die respectievelijk Antwerpen (oa Soulblazers) en Gent (oa Rotation & 10 days off) vertegenwoordigen.

Vaste Cityflowers Judah & Gunman draaien ook. Ze zijn drijvende krachten achter het City Flow concept én mixen voor afterdarkradio. Zij brengen Journey mee: een supercoole chick die er een zeer diepe, euh, platenselectie op nahoudt.

Volgende dubstep/drum'n'bass:
Dinsdag 23 november: Netsky
Vrijdag 10 december: Donkey Punch met Chrispy (UK), Dubba Jonny (UK), Murdock Presents Jungle Fever II, Atmospherix, Epic Fail, Phanta.

Het heeft een hele poos geduurd, maar België heeft eindelijk een drum'n'bass producer die het ook in de bakermat van het genre waarmaakt: de jonge Netsky is getekend op het Britse Hospital Records, waar hij na enkele succesvolle singles dit jaar zijn debuutalbum uitbrengt. Op vrijdag 5 februari speelt Netsky in Petrol, samen met oa dj Die (van de Reprazent/Full Cycle crew) en Syndaesia: een jonge Belgische dubsteproducer die een track van Wu-Tang Clan mocht remixen, een producerscontest won bij Switch op Stubru en de verwachtingen bijgevolg hoog heeft gespannen.
Petrol drum'n'bass resident Murdock is natuurlijk ook van de partij, net als Goldorak & Solpher, The Nitwits en Grimelock.

Ook een lid van de Shellshock Crew dat een van zijn sets komt brengen, vergezeld door het Beverse DJ-duo JnC.

An DnB ambassador for many years, V enjoys bringing big vibes, endless energy & unique lyrical content to every party his on the line-up for and is resident MC for Stealthbombers (BE) and Dub-Timus Soundsystem (BE).

It's strange how the death of one musical group can be exactly the sort of catalyst needed to spawn another. KOAN Sound are certainly a highly gifted example of this phenomenon. It was in 2008 that KOAN Sound emerged from the ashes of several other musical endeavours, fusing passion for electronic music with sheer musical intuition. Since then KOAN Sound have continued to develop, synthesising ever more complex and inspirational patterns. And with influences such as The Prodigy, Amon Tobin and Noisia, it's not hard to see why KOAN Sound productions are synonymous with dark gripping basslines; elegantly mastered and meticulously executed.

Support is nothing but exponential for KOAN Sound. The group's creative and above all original ethos has granted them well deserved credibility from producers, DJ and Music fans alike. These include the likes of Aphex Twin, Pendulum, Zane Lowe and Rusko. With a trademark big room sound support for The Prototypes has come from all areas including Andy C, Friction, Sub Focus, Roni Size, Fresh, Pendulum and more. Off to a great start they were recently announced as one of ATM magazine's 2010 'Leaders of the Nu-Skool' and are proud to have hosted a UKF podcast that's reached a phenomenal 250,000 downloads and counting.

Their infectious track 'Cascade' has brought them massive Radio 1 support from the likes of Zane Lowe, Annie Nightingale, Annie Mac, Fabio & Grooverider and had also earned them a highly acclaimed mini-mix as part of Jaguar Skills' 'Jag Fest'. All this plus forthcoming remixes on Ninja Tune and Sony BMG, the boys are demonstrating serious versatility.

Selsius is the alter ego of Koray Sels, who's favourite music is Drum&Bass. He began producing a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away... But now, crossing many many lightyears, his first track is here!

Owner of the PRSPCT records label and band member of the Viper Cobra band, Thrasher brings you a mashup of the harder styles. Drum & bass, darkstep, hardcore, this guy does it all and delivers smashing sets, bound to get the crowd moving.
PRSPCT Recordings is a Rotterdam based drumnbass record label run by DJ Thrasher Distributed by Triple Vision and St Holdings LTD.

Donny Christopher Don, better known to the world as Donny, started writing music simply to kill time and have a laugh. Starting out as a drummer, Donny's interest in grooves and rhythms progressively grew into a love of electronic music, and drum & bass in particular. Investing in a studio set-up and dedicating himself to learning the ins and outs of production, it wasn't long before Donny had begun to perfect the art of making D&B, and in early 2006 Mindrush Recordings were the first to pick up on his unique talents, snapping up his first 12" single, "Medieval Beating" b/w "Hide & Seek".

Soon after Donny signed "The Forgotten" to Barcode Recordings. A filthy concoction of eerie atmospherics, chilling vocal samples and smash-your-face off breakbeats, "The Forgotten" was set to be the first of many releases on the label and ever since that first, fateful signing, Donny has continued to work closely with Barcode; teaming up with other purveyors of the dirty and dark along the way, such as Current Value and Counterstrike.

Donny & Current Value's "Evil Has A Name" EP, released on Barcode, cemented his reputation for hard and heavy sounds and his remix and collaboration with Counterstrike on their "Insubordination" LP just confirmed it further. Since then, Donny has been working hard in the studio - collaborating with Audio, The Panacea and completing a remix of Dylan's "Dark Planet" for German label, Position Chrome, as well as touring the globe, showcasing his signature sound everywhere from the UK and Europe to Russia, Cape Town and Toronto. Misanthrop got caught up by the dark sounds and menacing beats of drum and bass in the nineties, as it developed more into an intense musical hybrid. This is when he decided to produce his own tracks, which enables him to use music as a medium to express personal experiences of human interactions. His aim is to break through the borders of conventions to set new unusual grounds and push the genre forward. something he succeeds in with grace.

Jaydan Aka Jamie Cope hails from Leicester and has been into drum & bass ever since discovering it through his older brothers love of the music. From his early teens he was listening to rave music through his brother and in his friends bedrooms and started attending various under 18s raves around Leicester. As the music started to evolve into the jungle/drum & bass sound he became hooked and at the age of 16 attended his first big rave namely Dance Planet at the Sanctuary in Milton Keynes. He continued to attend nights around the Uk such as Helter Skelter, pandemonium and Total Kaos and seeing djs like LTJ Bukem ,Fabio and Jumping Jack Frost to name a few he knew that he wanted to be a dj. It was then that he met a group of likeminded people through another friend he had made recently, another local Dj by the name of Dj Detro (Marc). It was one of the new group of friends Dj Skitzo (Justin) who set Jaydan on his way by teaching him how to mix. A couple of years later an opportunity came up for Jaydan to play at a Formation Records night back to back with Dj Detro at the Underground in Leicester. It was a nerve racking experience as they were performing with the likes of Darren J, SS, Dj Ron, L Double General Levy and Warren G. It went really well though and it was a first taste of playing to a big crowd and they both knew they wanted more. Over the next couple of years and having dabbled in happy hardcore under the alias Dj Insane, Jaydan knew that it was Drum & bass that was he truly enjoyed playing but the scene had gone a little too techy for him so needing to satisfy his craving for Amen Breaks he turned his attention to the LTJ Bukem / Logical Progression movement. Having enjoyed attending, listening and playing the intelligent style of drum & Bass it was a natural progression into the now emerging liquid side of things. It was at this point that he and Dj Detro decided that as they had played back 2 back many times in the past and had become good friends they may have more success if they joined up under 1 name enabling twice the networking ability. Jaydans Brother Tony then suggested the name Disfunktion and they agreed that was the name they would use for the venture. As the djing and bookings continued to grow along with the night Genetic they had set up with another good friend Sam, Jaydan started to attend studio sessions with his brother and really liked the creativity behind writing and Producing Drum & Bass. Feeling a natural urge to unleash the ideas he had in his head he knew that this was also something he passionatly wanted to persue but was struggling to build himself a studio due to everything being hardware based and very expensive. It was shortly after this when he met Dj Zen of Formation Records after his move to Leicester and with guidance started to buy and build his own software based Studio funded by driving Twisted Individual to some of his many gigs. This is where he would spend all of his spare time. Due to the fast accelerating jump up scene and spending more time around Twisted & Zen he was hearing tracks that blew him away and seeing what this energetic music was doing to the dancefloors he knew this was the flava he was gonna work towards. The following Year he met up with Generation dub when they moved to Leicester and seeing Potential they signed him to propaganda Recordings their own imprint. From That point on he needed to have a solo artist name and having been called Jaydan previous to Disfunktion he decided to roll with it and due to all The hard work he and Marc had put in it was decided that Marc would continue To be known as Disfunktion. Jaydan has been producing now for just over 5 yrs and is happy to have had a steady stream of releases, he has received support and excellent press comments from many of the scenes leading players including the whole Full Cycle camp, Dj Marky, Hype, Goldie & Total Science to name a few. More recently Jaydan has been receiving attention from the godfather of Drum & Bass Dj Grooverider who is supporting his music on BBC Radio 1 aswell as on worldwide dancefloors. Jaydan comes from a very musical family and has influences that lie deep in ska and 80s electronic music. He describes his Drum & Bass influences as Full Cycle & G Dub although he has started to show some Diversity and is releasing some more mellow tracks in the near future with His first track The Secret having received airplay on BBC Radio 1Xtra. Jaydan has been Djing now for 14 years and describes his style as straight up party tunes although he plays all angles of d&b. Along with regular appearances at nights all over the Uk, he has also gained various residencies around the midlands at nights such as Genetic (Leicester), Strictly DnB (Northampton), Frequency (Northampton), Focus (Nottingham), Rotation (Leicester) & Break-fast (Brighton). After a busy 2006 with highlights including co-hosting the M1X Show on BBC's 1Xtra and releasing collaborations on the mighty Ganja Records, it seems that 2007 is set to be an even bigger year for Jaydan. Already he has had a feature written on him in the Metro Newspaper, performed in Amsterdam, Belgium & Poland, Started his own Label "Smokin Riddims", Signed to Urban Agency and is due to appear in a feature in Knowledge Magazine. With an increasingly busying Dj schedule now including worldwide appearances and an ever increasing portfolio the future for Jaydan Is looking very bright. Majistrate has been djing since 1989 and producing since 1994. Back in 1993 Undercover Agent, long time friend of Majistrate and owner of notorious Cyndicut was about to launch Splash and Juice Recordings. The releases started back in 1994 when Splash recordings released Majistrate's first 12" Open Circuit. Majistrate went on to have over 10 releases on the classic jungle label as well as various releases on the sister label Juice Recordings. By 1995 Majistrate was progressing with producing and dj'ing at some of the biggest events as well as featuring weekly on Kool FM. After meeting A-sides who liked what Majistrate was doing, he decided to release material on his East Side record label. Following this there were various A-sides/Majistrate collaborations under the name of Fate, as well as countless Majistrate solo releases. Majistrate has also remixed for various artists, as well as having other releases on classic labels such as Lucky Spin and Brain records. He has also appeared on Kiss FM & Rude FM, as well as playing throughout Europe. In 2002 Majistrate made a come back to production after a brief break, and hooked up with Nicol, old time friend and Direct Recordings owner. 'Show U' was the second release on Direct Recordings, and lead to Majistrate and Nicol linking up in the studio. Since then there have had various releases on Urban Takeover, Frequency (Ram records sister label) & Frontline. Majistrate also recently featured a remix on Ganja records. DJ Nicol (UK) originally got his DJ name by working on London pirate radio station Pressure FM which he started in 1995 alongside the likes of Ruff Stuff, Bizzy-B and Friction to name a few. He later moved onto hosting a weekly show on Cyndicut FM, with MC Eksman, and with guest appearances from MCs Herbz, Fatman D, 5ive 0 & TC Izlam to name a few. More recently DJ Nicol has been special guest with Jungle legend Remarc on Kool FM. He has performed at all the UK's top events including Innovation, 1Nation, Breakin Science and Battle of the MCs, as well as club events both here and abroad including countries Germany, Poland, Austria and the U.S.A . He plays a fresh bubbling style of drum & bass, mainly dub plates from the scenes top labels, and exclusive VIP Remixes. He is Co-owner of Direct Recordings, and also a recording artist for Frontline, Urban Takeover & Frequency Records. He also co-promotes Direct Recordings nights across the UK and Europe. In 2003, DJ Nicol started the move into production and what a move it was. While some of you may not be 100% familiar with the name Original Sin, all will become clear when you realise that this is the new production alias of none other than Adam Tindall, one half of the undisputed kings of Jump Up Drum & Bass, G Dub. If you consider yourself a fan of Drum & Bass then undoubtedly you will have heard of G Dub, the Geordie duo who have been destroying raves with their inim...itable blend of rig mashing beats for over half a decade, and it's thanks to this tireless reputation for crafting straight up club bangers that Adam has become renowned for his outstanding studio skills.

Hookerz is a Ghent based Drum'n'Bass DJ who's known for his fast mixing skillz and wide range of tune selection. By destroying dancefloors all over the country, Hookerz has proven himself to be a real killer DJ!

That is correct. Bong-Ra! His style contains a variety of crossovers and fusions of different genres, including metal, gabba, jazz, rave and jungle, making him one of the front runners of the breakcore genre.

Bong-Ra, Jason Köhnen's electronic alter ego saw life in 1996. Hailing from The Netherlands, Bong-Ra initially started as a dj, but quickly focused his priority on producing his own music in 1997.

Djax Records signed Bong-Ra in 1998, proceeding to release the debut album 'New Millennium Dreadz' and the 12-inch series 'Darkbreaks' Volumes 1 and 2. Bong-Ra at that time was accompanied by MC Guzman on vocals.

In 2001 Clash Records (a hardcore jungle orientated 7-inch label) was set up. In that same year John Peel invited Bong-Ra to do a 'Peel Session' which was released on UK label Death$ucker Records. Several vinyl releases followed in the period between 2001 and 2003.

From 2001 to 2004 the 'Breakcore a Go-Go!' parties were run and organised by FFF and Bong-Ra becoming one of the first (bi) monthly regular Breakcore nights in Europe. 'Bikini Bandits, Kill! Kill! Kill!' the second full length album was released in 2003 on Supertracks Records. This album saw an audiovisual co-operation with US based film company Gyromart. The track '666MPH' was used on the Bikini Bandits DVD and the videoclip to '666MPH' aired on MTV. The Bikini Bandits audiovisual project became an exposition in the Museum of Modern Arts in Arnhem, The Netherlands. That year Bong-Ra also appeared on some of Holland's biggest Festivals : Lowlands, Metropolis and Eurosonic. Also a small UK tour with DJ Scud and Soundmurderer followed.

In 2004 Bong-Ra set up his second label Kriss Records, focussing on edgier breaks (mostly combining metal and breakbeats). That same year the Center for Electronic Music (CEM) in Amsterdam asked Bong-Ra to produce a special 4 track EP solely using vintage equipment in the CEM studios, resulting in the 'Colony of Electric Machines' EP on the Vynalogica label. The 'Monsters of Mash Up' European Tour in 2005 with Shitmat (UK) and Enduser (USA) and a Japanese Tour with Parasite (UK) was followed by the third full length 'I am the God of Hellfire' released on Very Friendly and Ad Noiseam and the jungle/raggacore CD compilation 'Warrior Sound' on Supertracks Records (NL).

In 2006 a special 4 track remix EP of Venetian Snares' 'Rossz Csillag Allat Szuletett' and the debut of Bong-Ra's main side project The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble were released on Planet Mu (UK). The politically charged album 'Soldaat van Oranje' was released on Sublight Records (CAN). Bong-Ra returned for his second Lowlands Festival, becoming one of the highlights of the Festival (according to Dutch magazine OOR). A second European tour and split 12-inc with Enduser 'The Kill' and a memorable muddy Glastonbury Festival highlighted 2007.

After the succes of Glastonbury, continued 2007 working on a variety of side projects including ; Deathstorm (extreme hypergrind project with japanese noise / grind legend Maruosa). [artists]Glowstyx (90's rave revival album). white darkness (uberdoom combining funeral doom with classical music). The Mount Fuji Doomjazz Corporation (TKDE live improv sideproject). Köhnen vs Nottelman (improv hardcore electronica jazz core stuff).

2008 saw the legendary Bang Face Weekender take place, a festival with a legendary line up...a classic! The first Bong-Ra US Tour, and a return to the dutch Lowlands Festival.

Raised on a diet of pure filth, the Broken Note duo are bringing their own unique sound to the electronic music scene. Combining lean, considered production skills with an appreciation of diverse rough beats; they have quickly established themselves as a sonic force to be reckoned with. broken note is a genre on it's own.

Broken Note consists of Tommy and Eddie (aka Kidnappa of 16Bit), based in London, England. One from a punk background, one from hip-hop came together for a love of relentless bass music after wrecking their eardrums at London squat parties. Broken Note makes filthy drum and bass and dubstep.

Raised on a diet of pure filth, the Broken Note duo are bringing their own unique sound to the electronic music scene. Combining lean, considered production skills with an appreciation of diverse rough beats; they have quickly established themselves as a sonic force to be reckoned with.

Some of their recent and forthcoming releases can only very loosely be described as dubstep, with little in common with much of the scene's output. Instead they draw from the Sino-Rastafarian sound and heavy bass; but also combine this with more of the kind of dark and aggressive beats that can be found in breakcore and jungle.

Their drum & bass is similarly disturbingly brutal, with undulating beats and bass that are unashamed to draw from the darkly edgy sounds of gabber and techno. It delivers a rhythmic pounding that has set dance floors around the world on fire with its astonishing heaviness. The result is both at home in clubs and the vast expanse of a decaying urban warehouse, inspiring visions of a dark and techy future for their music. A description of one release was pegged as "The darkest, most frightening tunes that have ever found their way onto vinyl".

Their live sets are currently based around two laptops running Ableton Live, utilizing various midi controllers and FX running with on the spot warping, cueing and live key work. The content tends to be a mash up of everything from dark dubstep to hardtekno, the most evil drum & bass to hardcore; playing many of their own tunes but mixing these with music by those who they draw inspiration from. They are both diverse and interesting, as well as being guaranteed to be one of the highlights of any night at which they are playing.

Member of the CRESST-crew and music enthusiast 24/7, Pukaz owns many of the PRSPCT releases. Most of the times he does dubstep sets but he can also put all of his pumping dnb and darkstep into one adrenaline rushing set.

His very broad selection is his biggest weapon but surely not his only one. He has played several times in the UK, Holland, Germany, Spain, France, Israël, Poland, Canada, the US, Romania, Denmark and the Czech Republic. He is also regularly invited to DJ at Belgian festivals such as Laundry Day and Pukkelpop.

This dynamic Drum And Bass duo from Spain are considered by many the most versatile and promising DnB producers of their country and have received foreign support from big guys like Audio, Spor and Counterstrike. Since they started in 2007 they've developed their own style, recognizable by a great deal of influences in one single track, including hardcore and breakbeat.

They are signed with the tonesetting label PRSPCT Recordings and have played in Holland, Germany, Bulgaria, Portugal, Slovakia, Italy and Romania.

Producing Drum And Bass for 9 years, now (2011) at the age of 28, he has 42 vinyl and 12 CD releases. Cooh has had appearances in many parts of the world. So far he has played in England, Australia, Russia, France, Denmark, Swiss, Slovakia, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Slovenia, Poland, Germany, Holland, Czech Republic, Austria,Serbia, Kazakhstan and Romania, and is booked for performing in many more countries.

He has a special knowledge of how to make the crowds go crazy and loves to let loose his inner demons in his sets. Be prepared.

Counterstrike (Algorythm Recs/Obscene Recs/Moving Shadow Recs/Renegade Hardware/Barcode Recs/Evol Intent Recs) also known as Animal Chin and 500 Mills, have been active drum 'n bass DJ's on the club/rave circuit since the mid Nineties playing all over South Africa and abroad in countries like Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Latvia, Lithuania, Portugal, England, Germany, Norway, Poland, Belgium, Holland, Austria, Denmark, Hungary, Slovakia, Switzerland and the USA.

Counterstrike has been producing drum 'n bass as a collective since 1998. They've had over 40 12" vinyl releases on various high profile labels and re-launched their own imprint, Algorythm Recordings, internationaly in 2005. Apart from their busy production schedule they still find the time to regularly perform abroad. 2009 saw them DJ in 18 countries.

Their musical sound can be described as a cunning blend of sharp jungle-beats and basslines combined with high-range trance-ish leads.

Despite the heavy production schedule, The Sect are as at home behind the decks as in the studio. Playing regularly at events across the world, from the UK to Russia and New Zealand. They have established a reputation for high-energy DJ sets, combining tight mixing with cutting-edge dubs to move crowds wherever they play. Rolling beats and pumping basslines is what these guys are all about.

Initially meeting through mutual friends in the late 1990s, Blade and Virtua have been producing Drum & Bass together ever since. Long-time friend and DJ partner Method joined soon after, completing the trio and The Sect was born.

Hooking up with Raiden and Propaganda whilst living in the South of England, they all share the same love of driving, underground drum and bass, especially the breaks, techno and futuristic soundscapes that embody the Offkey sound. This culminated in their first signing to the label - 'Nerve Attack'.

Heavily influenced by the futuristic releases on Underfire, the techno-edged Konflict sound and the early Prodigy tracks, The Sect aim to produce forward-thinking tracks which blend techno and drum and bass elements to move the dance floor.

They are no strangers to the 1210s either, Blade & Method having DJ'd regularly at clubs and events across the UK and abroad for over ten years and Virtua showcasing his turntablist skills at the DMC championships.

Although as individuals they have had various releases across a number of different genres (currently Virtua is enjoying success as one half of burgeoning Breakbeat duo Digital Breaks Foundation), together they are committed to pushing the technoid Drum & Bass sound and are excited to join the Offkey family.

With current releases on Offkey and Obscene and also a whole host of new tracks signed to Offkey, Freak, Position Chrome, ELP and Habit, The Sect are picking up interest from a lot of big name players within the scene, plus establishing themselves as big favourites of die hard Drum and Bass fans all over the world. Playing at nights throughout the UK and Europe, these guys are destroying dance floors wherever they play, or even where their tunes are played.

Mathis Mootz, the teutonic mastermind and producer behind The Panacea from Wuerzburg, Germany, has developed and perfected his sinister drum and Bass mashup style over the years. The Panacea is the digital Napalm Death, fueled by wreck-step beats, he samples and generally throws together elements of hardcore techno, drum'n'bass, jungle and industrial into his unique explosive sound.

As one of the dominant faces of the German Position Chrome Label he has released 23 ep's and 5 albums since 1996. His debut 'Low Profile Darkness' was one of his most influential works to date, and a huge success with over 12,000 copies sold. Others followed like the techno and hardcore influenced 'Twisted Designz','Phoenix Metabolism' with it's hip hop and booty bass roots, the enormous 'German Engineering' and 'Underground Superstardom', and the experimental and noisy 'Architettura'.

His experimental, electro, and neo-industrial beats were produced under the aliases of Squaremeter, Disorder, Warfare, Kate Mosh, Bad Street Boy, Radar and Rich Kid. These productions landed on labels like Mille Plateaux, Ant-Zen, Hands Productions, Ambush, Ad Noiseam, Kniteforce, Intransigent and Outbreak to name a few.

The rebirth of Position Chrome, and the launch of close friend Raidens' Offkey Recordings, marks the start for awesome collaborations and heavy tuneage in the future. The Panacea has recently joined the Anger Management DJ roster, and will be releasing this year on Dylan's mighty Freak Recordings.

Max Anokin a.k.a LIMEWAX. Born in Kamjanetz Podilskyi, Ukraine 1988 and based in Kiev - Ukraine. Moved to the Netherlands in 1999. His first release was Life Of Sin Remix (2005, Penetration Records). The young virtuoso dnb/electronic music producer has so far released music for labels such as : Tech Itch, Freak Recordings, Obscene Recordings, Tech Freak, Avalanche, Algorythm and Sinuous Recordings.

His style tends towards the harsher sounds of hardstep and darkstep. At the age of 11, he moved to Tilburg in the Netherlands, where he began writing music. He released his first EP, Changing Crisis in 2005 at the age of 17, and is well noted for emerging into the music industry at a young age. Limewax's sound is easily identifiable by his signature drum patterns, with a snare on every third sixteenth note.

Freak Recordings is a UK-based drum n bass record label, owned and run by Dylan Hisley, which deals predominantly in heavier subgenres of drum and bass. For these subgenres, Freak Recordings is among the longest-running and most successful record labels. It is affiliated with labels Obscene Recordings and Tech Itch Recordings, with the latter of whom it has formed a sub-label, Tech Freak Recordings, dedicated to the release of full-length albums. Although exceptionally popular among fans, Freak Recordings is infamous for a long-running release schedule, with some songs reaching a proper commercial release years after coming into public awareness.

Commix are George Levings and Guy Brewer, a UK drum and bass duo from Cambridge who have had tracks signed to Goldie's Metalheadz label and Hospital Records.

Commix tracks generally have a light, eerie and experimental feel to them; all tracks on their Call To Mind LP are shipped with the "progressive electronic" sub genre to reflect their sound.

Commix are part of The Cambridge Four, including themselves, Logistics and Nu:Tone, to produce NHS74: The Future Sound of Cambridge, released on Hospital Records. As of 2008, all three artists are working on the second edition of this EP, NHS106: The Future Sound Of Cambridge2.

NOISIA (who took their name from the word 'VISION' inverted on an upside down VHS tape) are Nik Roos, Thijs de Vlieger and Martijn van Sonderen, hailing from the Netherlands. Influenced by an eclectic range of artists, from The Prodigy to James Brown, Miles Davis to Konflict, Noisia make music for DJs and dance-floors that is interesting enough to cross over from the clubs to your MP3 player. 2005 saw Noisia establish their own label, Vision Recordings to put out their drum&bass productions and collaborations and retain creative control of their music. Nik designs almost all of the artwork for the releases on their labels, and the guys love the challenges and rewards that come with running a label. Vision Recording's biggest releases to date have been 'The Tide', 'Exodus' Feat. KRS One and 'Stigma'. In 2007 they established Division, a non-D&B label for electro, breaks and house. Over the past few years, accolades for Noisia have included 'Best Producers' at the Dutch D&B Awards in 2006 and 2007, Knowledge Mag Top 20 Tunes of the Decade 2000 - 2009: No 4 with 'The Tide', 'Best Tech DJ' in the UK National D&B Awards in 2009 and 'Best Drum&Bass Artist' on Beatport. The guys have worked with, and remixed a number of artists, with notable tracks including, 'Alice' by Moby, 'Omen' by The Prodigy and more recently, Foreign Beggars, Amon Tobin with whom they have collaborated on their forthcoming debut album and Hadouken whose entire new record 'For The Masses' is produced by

Brighton raised, multi award winning DJ Friction is a member of an exclusive club. He is one of a handful of DJ's to have smashed through the ranks and become a superstar in his genre simply through an unbelievable talent behind the decks. This year has seen him add more accolades to his ever increasing CV and is regarded by many as not only the most skilled but the most diverse DJ in drum & bass.

As a teenager Friction played at events and promoted his own club nights much like any other young DJ trying to make a name for himself. He soon linked up with Brighton producers 'Stakka & K-Tee', who were heavily involved with Andy C's Ram Records imprint. Many hours were spent in the studio and in February '99 Friction released his debut single 'Critical Mass' under the name Kinnetix on the 'Under Fire'. Before long Friction received interest from big Drum & Bass record companies such as TOV & Renegade Hardware. He soon produced a track for TOV's 'Here Comes Trouble' EP with the defining track 'Photon'. Things were most definitely moving for this talented, hugely motivated young man from Brighton. Immediately following that was the acclaimed 'Altitude' with Stakka & Skynet, regarded throughout the scene as a truly ground breaking piece of drum & bass, fusing high energy techno and jungle, helping to start what was regarded by many as the 'Neurofunk' sound.

Releases followed on a host of top drum & bass labels including Valve, Tru Playaz, Passenger, Hardware, 31 Records, Hospital and Charge to name a few. These days due to his non stop Club and Festival schedule the releases flow slightly slower but always to high critical acclaim.

After joining BBC 1Xtra in 2002 at the station's launch, he made his mark quickly. His 'Mix Show' was truly groundbreaking, creating a massive following worldwide, reluctantly calling it a day after two years with a constantly growing schedule proving too much. Numerous awards have followed, including 'Best Newcomer' in the 'Drum & Bass Arena' Awards in 2002, 'Best Breakthrough DJ' at the 2003 'Knowledge Magazine Awards', another 'Best Newcomer' at the 2004 'Accelerated Culture Awards', Runner Up at The Raveology DnB awards 2007 and finally 'Best DJ' at the MTV Romania Awards in 2007.

Friction's mix CD's have also grown in quality and popularity. The Bingo Sessions Vol.1 Cd (with DJ Zinc) on Bingo was a massive hit, charting in the national LP top 40 and was followed with the first of his own highly successful series 'The Next Level' which has gone on to sell thousands worldwide.

More recognition was to follow with his jaw dropping Pete Tong 'Essential Mix' which aired April 2006 to huge acclaim. In Pete Tong's own words DJ Friction really had become one of the Drum & Bass 'Big Dogs'.

His remix of 'Back To Your Roots' released on Shogun in 2007 was also regarded as the biggest drum and bass track of the year and received plays from Annie Mac to the Stanton Warriors to Judge Jules. Around the same time he began to dabble with the Breaks scene, playing at select events around the world, joining Aquasky in the studio to produce the uncompromising anthem 'Control Freak', released on their 2007 'This Way Up' LP on Passenger.



2008 was a year that saw Friction continuing to push his DJ'ing career even further, playing all over the world most weekends. However he still managed to find a little studio time and managed his a debut release on Metalheadz, 'Shogun Nightmare', his massive anthem on Valve, '3rd Degree Gurns' and also the highly anticipated 'Altitude' remixes on Shogun Audio. He also mixed the 2008 Drum & Bass Arena album alongside scene legend, Fabio, and it was from this that plans were hatched for an all-new Friction mix series that would set a new standard in drum & bass mix albums. Bring on 2009. This next year turned into one of the biggest so far in Friction and Shogun's history with said mix album 'Assassin Volume One' released to much critical acclaim from the music media and fans all over the globe. Following this up was Friction & K-tee's vocal smasher 'Fired Up' on Hospital Records that received great support from the likes of Annie Mac and even Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1. Shogun then released the debut LP from one Alix Perez and helped on by Frictions relentless DJ'ing schedule became possibly THE drum and bass artist album of the year. Friction & K-tee's killer single 'Set It Off' dropped on Shogun at the end of the year and along with a nomination for 'Best DJ' at the D&B Arena Awards and the new Shogun club residency in their home town of Brighton, it marked a huge growth and successful end to 2009.

So far this year has been another non-stop roller-coaster ride for Friction with gigs from London to Sydney to Korea and even Hawaii. Although the schedule is fierce a Friction set never falters; whether he's on two or three decks, playing for two hours or four, people are rapidly learning that, drum & bass fanatics or not, a night with Friction will be one to remember.

Nymfo has been apart of Drum and Bass for well over a decade, a mastermind and organizer of one of the number one events in the Netherlands, Red Zone and ICON, which attracted some of the scenes biggest names. On top of these events he would also hold intimate events show casing the deeper vibes of Drum and Bass, keeping his hand on all aspects of the sound he loved.

Over the last 12 years, Nymfo has been immersed in deejaying, from his own events to headlining shows around Europe and the world, Nymfo was seen as one of the most talented up and coming deejays in the scene. This was then established in 2005 when he won the 'Best Dutch Drum and Bass DJ' then went on to win the same title again in 2007, cementing him as one of the scenes most talented and exciting deejays to date.

With a huge reputation to live up to as a Deejay, Nymfo has been working on production over the previous 3 years, and keeping in line with this high standard, Nymfo's production out put has been of the same high quality that not only have they been picked up by major labels like Andy C's RAM Records, Renegade Recordings, Critical Recordings, Frequency Recordings and the huge Shogun Limited imprint but his tunes are in demand by all the established artists and deejays world wide. With huge collaborations with Icicle and Proxima creating massive hype getting huge reviews, Nymfo is hot property and proves he is one of the greatest deejays and producers in the scene today.

Essentially Hype is to drum and bass as Afrika Bambaata was to the development of hip-hop. He first became involved in music through the legendary Shut Up and Dance sound system, like many before him his interest growing from physically building the speakers that made up the rig to DJ'ing, spinning reggae, house and hip hop throughout the eighties. As time passed, his skills behind the turntable grew to the extent of winning the London heat of the 1989 DMC's and going on to represent Britain in the European championships." While continuing to play at high capacity events Hype also made the move into radio, becoming involved with influential pirate station Fantasy FM before taking up a position at Kiss FM - his Sunday night sessions some of the most popular and securing him Best Male DJ and Best Radio DJ at subsequent Hardcore Awards." His time in the studio began at Kickin', co-producing The Scientist's seminal 'Exorcist' and 'The Bee' before laying down tracks for a number of other labels - the most notable of which, Suburban Base, saw him compiling the still highly sought after 'Drum and Bass Selection' series in addition to notching up his own underground smashes in the form of 'Trooper' and 'Shot In The Dark' while touching upon the charts with 'Isotonic' on FFRR." With substantial success, it was only a matter of time before Hype established his own label, "Ganja", in 1993, working closely with fellow ex-Suburban Base artist and friend Pascal. 'Cops' opened up the play for his Ganja imprint which was later to feature 'Ganja Man' and Zinc's legendary 'Super Sharp Shooter,' before peaking with the 'Still Smokin' album, a collaborative effort with Pascal's Frontline Records. Perhaps surprisingly considering the subsequent runaway success of the label, the intention was never specific, as Hype explains." 'Ganja Records was never meant to be anything, I was never planning on building anything from it, and it was just a knock up as I wanted a label to put some tunes on. As the label built itself without me really having to do anything I realised that if I did choose to put some effort into something I could build something really strong. I'd been encouraging Zinc to do his own thing for some time, though since he didn't really want to be out on his own - myself, Zinc and Pascal decided to set up a label as a collective.' Having flirted with major's in the form of a deal with RCA/Parousia as Ganja Crew in 1997, the threesome backed out of renewing their options choosing instead to retain their independence through establishing their own True Playaz. Hype explains his Philosophy. 'There are two things which keep me going. Firstly, I haven't got anything else - this is it for me so I've got to keep it going - I look at what I have and music has got me everything in my life as well as enabling me to help my family. Secondly I see the enthusiasm for this music from people all over the world. This year alone we've dj'd all over the world; Spain, Canada, Switzerland, Estonia and we know that the whole planet wants it. When you've evolved with something and become part of it on a level where you know that there is such a love for it - it becomes something very special to you. To think five years ago no one could have ever have contemplated that this music would be where it is now. The day I'm playing out and the audience doesn't like it anymore I'll probably move onto something else.'

Jon Stanley (formerly also with Matt Whitehead), but mostly known as Cyantific, hail from South West London. He joined Hospital Records in summer 2002, when High Contrast tipped off Colman and Goss about Cyantific's award winning tracks and performance. With a collection of 12"s, remixes and compilation appearances, Cyantific has gathered a substantial underground fanbase. Popular tracks that have helped Cyantific's breakthrough into the drum and bass scene feature the fast soul classic with Diane Charlemagne, Don't Follow, and the hard hitting Output. Notable Discography Hospital Mix 4 (Hospital Records, mixed by Cyantific, 2005) Ghetto Blaster (Hospital Records, Debut LP, 2006) Since 2007, Cyantific has started writing their new LP in a barn in Hampton Wick dubbed the "cyance lab" near Kingston upon Thames. Awards In 2007, Cyantific's Jon was awarded Best Breakthrough DJ from BBC 1Xtra.

EZ Rollers are Alex Banks and Jay Hurren - two longtime friends from the small East Anglian town of Beccles. This may seem unusual to those outside of drum & bass circles, but Beccles is actually a hotbed of drum & bass talent. Besides EZ Rollers, acts associated with the town include PFM, Flytronix, JMJ & Richie and Hyper-on Experience. JMJ is actually Jay from EZ Rollers and Hyper-on is Alex's former project with Danny Flytronix. EZ Rollers have been signed exclusively to Moving Shadow since their first single "Rolled Into One / Believe" in 1994, but their association with the label goes right back to the early 90s when Hyper-On Experience released classic darkcore tracks like "Lord Of The Null Lines." Ironically, this sound couldn't be further removed from what Alex and EZ Rollers are about. As Alex already knew Jay and liked what he was doing with Richie, they got together to do some tunes. Things clicked immediately with the aforementioned "Rolled Into One" EP. Rob Playford liked it so much in fact, he told them to do an album. "Dimensions Of Sound" was released in 1996 and, with a few singles in between, here they are with the follow-up, "Weekend World".

A group from Lyon, France, with a very original sound, made by mixing hip hop, d'n'b, rock, dub, jungle, jazz, trip hop. They are famous for their hypnotising live acts.
After 2 albums "triple 000 " and "P.H. Test Two" ( 100 000 copies together), Le Peuple de l'Herbe came back in early 2005 with their much awaited third album "Cube". This is their first work featuring British rapper JC001 as full band member, after prior collaborations as MC and with his former band UK Apache. A new evolution for a band created by 2 hip hop and jungle oriented DJ's, later joined by a trumpet player and a rock drummer for a more organic sound.
Using their live experience ( more than 300 gigs all over Europe in 5 years), it's in their own studio - The Supadope factory in Lyon (France) - that they recorded "Cube". Their latest album was released November 2006 and is called "Radio Blood Money". Combining their passion for hip-hop, electro, dub and rock, the music of " Le Peuple" reaches a new dimension mixing high energy, distinc grooves, unconventional melodies, elegance and thier legendary fun and party attitude.

Shy FX is the pseudonym of Andre Williams (born 1977), an English drum and bass musician from London. He is best known for one of his earliest singles, 1994's "Original Nuttah", with UK Apache. Throughout his career he has worked closely with T-Power, both as "Ebony Dubsters" and "Shy-FX and T-Power"; their 2002 track "Shake Your Body" with vocalist Di was a crossover success, appearing in the Top 40 UK Singles Chart. "Shake your Body" had great success through out Europe. In 2005 he founded Digital Soundboy Recordings.

Original production alias of Goldie used for his first releases on Reinforced Records, more recently used as the moniker when producing with Heist. With the duo releasing two albums under the name Rufige Kru; Malice In Wonderland (2007) and Memoirs Of An Afterlife (2009), both on Goldie's Metalheadz label, along with a slew of 12''s.

Paul Smith (Spinback) and Jason Greenhalgh (Q Project) are two of the most prolific producers within the drum & bass movement, recording for a plethora of different labels under a range of monikers. The pair first met in 1987, both living on Blackbird Leys estate in Oxford, England and brought together through a mutual love of hip-hop. Distracted by the arrival of hardcore in the early nineties, record collecting was quickly followed by DJ'ing and eventually production. Greenhalgh was the first into the studio, with "Freestyle Fanatic" launching his career in 1991. However it was the establishment of the Legend imprint and specifically Greenhalgh's "Champion Sound", which really took their profile above and beyond the slew of anonymous white labels that were dominating the music at the time. In 1994, the pair started recording together, with "Got to Believe" the first in a series of records which pushed the label away from the fizzling darkside movement and more towards the epic string sections and rolling beats which started to appear on labels like Lucky Spin, Basement and Good Looking. After six years of recording singles for others, the pair established the CIA label in the closing months of 1997 with the help of Brillo from Timeless. The release of their Silent Reign EP for Goldie's Metalheadz breathed a new lease of life into the project, and the pair achieved a further boost with a well-timed Bad Company remix of "Champion Sound" which conjured further interest in what they were doing at their own label. Their debut album Advance exposed a further field of interest, with downtempo experiments logged as a series of "Breaks" on the majority of their early EP's extended to some superb deep house, this breadth taken a step further with their Skin Deep imprint which has forged broken beat to considerable acclaim. Their pioneering of a revival in old-school sounds and arrangements, together with Digital and Reinforced, dominated drum & bass throughout 2001. and a darn good lookin couple o' chaps n' all.

Born in 1976, Dan Gresham aka Nu:Tone, started piano aged 8 and joined Jesus College choir in Cambridge a year later. He studied music at Durham University, and having secured a college radio show met a young John B. They shared broadcasts, established local clubnight 'Substance', and Dan went on to engineering studio sessions for John. All these good vibes led to a debut vinyl release with John's Beta imprint in 2001: ('Grand Central' / 'The Boss'). Since signing to Hospital in 2003 Nu:Tone has come through the ranks to become one of the most highly respected producers in the scene, with everyone from LTJ Bukem to Dillinja busting his tunes. Nu:Tone's remix's are always guaranteed to please - whether it's the retro soul of his Spreadlove anthem or the junglist wobble of his Strictly Social Re-rub. His debut album "BRAVE NU WORLD" dropped in 2005 with all of the Drum & Bass' hierarchy supporting it. DJs Norman Jay M.B.E and Tom Middleton also made Nu:Tone a favorite of their eclectic sets. Off the back of this success Nu:Tone has taken his DJing all over the world spreading hospital love from the USA to Asia to Australia. Somehow he has also found the time to remix Alice Russell, Quantic and produce a track for Jenna G. On June 18th 2007 his LP "BACK OF BEYOND" was released.

As a winner of the Essential Mix of the Year 2007 on BBC's Radio 1, the name High Contrast needs no introduction, although when a young Lincoln Barrett signed on the dotted line back in 2000 he was a complete unknown. Signed on the strength of his mini-disc demos, the Welsh wonder has smashed his way through the Drum & Bass scene in no time at all. His debut longplayer "True Colours" was released on Hospital to massive critical acclaim in June 2002, paving the way for a move onto the outernational DJ circuit and remixer of choice for many labels inside and outside of the Drum & Bass community. It was the club sessions and mixing skills that dominated the year following the release of "True Colours" - with Lincoln making a name for himself as one of the hottest Drum & Bass DJs around. In autumn 2004 he dropped the massive "High Society" LP, featuring the anthemic singles "Twilights Last Gleaming" and "Racing Green". The album has already become the stuff of legend, with Knowledge Magazine voting it into their top 3 jungle albums of the last 10 years. More recently after reaching Drum & Bass superstardom he has released mix albums for Fabric and Mixmag and seen his White Stripes remix all over Radio 1. Missy Elliot and Blaze have also come knocking for a Contrast remix and the world's dance floors have been blown apart by that Gold Digger booty. 2007 saw the High Contrast success story continue, with the single "If We Ever" getting play on Radio One, followed by arguably his finest album yet - "Tough Guys Don't Dance". Rounding the year off with yet another huge remix - this time for Axwell's Ibizan anthem "I Found You". As we speak, he's back on the road taking his brand of widescreen jungle soul to the people. "All killer no filler" says IDJ Magazine. Go catch some Contrast and see that they are spot on! High Contrast released a new album in 2007. The album "Tough Guys Don't Dance" was released on October 1, 2007 in the US. The single "Pink Flamingos" has gotten multiple plays on Sirius' Boombox (a.k.a. Channel 34). The album also has a mixed/mashed up version of Iron Butterfly's "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida".

DJ SS, born Leroy Small (on August 27 1970) , is a Drum and Bass DJ and producer from Leicester, United Kingdom. Originally a breakdancer, DJ Stratch Stein began playing electro music as a teenager in the early 1980's. He then played Hip Hop and Rare Groove before turning to producing in 1988 initially Acid House, Hardcore, Breakbeat and finally Jungle/Drum and Bass tracks.

Saul Milton and Will Kennard really do start as they mean to go on. Since the birth of their drum and bass career in 2004, things have been moving extremely rapidly for this duo. Their first release on Renegade Hardware (a remix of Future Cut's 20/20) was followed with big tracks such as Love's Theme, Iron Fist and Hoodrat on prominent labels such as Bingo, BC Presents and Habit. DJ's: Andy C, Mampi Swift, Friction, Zinc, Pendulum, Fabio and Bad Company have shown huge support for their releases which has only been further affirmed by regular radio airplay. Beginning their DJ career in London just over 9 years ago, Chase&Status have witnessed the constant stylistic changes the industry has been through. Their sets reflect on a wide spectrum of DnB.

Grooverider (born Raymond Bingham) is the stage name of a drum'n'bass DJ from London. Grooverider began his DJing career at illegal raves and warehouse parties in Britain in the late eighties, and rose to prominence with partner Fabio through his innovative sets at influential club nights such as Rage and Speed. At these nights, Grooverider championed the emerging UK breakbeat culture that would eventually split from house and techno to produce Hardcore, and then after another split it became jungle, which would in turn become known as drum and bass. Grooverider remains an influential figure in the worldwide drum and bass scene, in part due to his successful radio show on BBC Radio 1 (presented in conjunction with Fabio) which has attained a devoted audience outside the United Kingdom. Consequently, he is in great demand as a DJ and works extensively abroad as well as in the UK. Although Grooverider is known primarily as a DJ and presenter, he is also a recording artist and runs one of the most prestigious drum and bass imprints; Prototype Recordings. Prototype is known for its sporadic, yet highly-anticipated, releases showcasing productions from many of the biggest names in drum and bass, including Dillinja, Ed Rush, Photek and Optical. As a recording artist, Grooverider has released one album, Mysteries of Funk (Sony 1998), produced in conjunction with Optical, and a number of acclaimed remixes. As of 2005, he is currently working on a new album. Grooverider was arrested 24 November 2007 in Dubai after flying in for a nightclub gig with 2.16g of cannabis and a pornographic DVD in his luggage. Grooverider had been employed on a freelance basis and has not been paid by BBC Radio 1 since November. Four years is the minimum sentence for drug trafficking in the United Arab Emirates. "I must have forgotten the spliff," he said in an interview. "It was a small amount. Back home I would not even get prosecuted." On February 19, 2008, Grooverider was sentenced to four years imprisonment. He was pardoned and released on Wednesday 3 September 2008, during the holy month of Ramadan that traditionally sees the pardoning of select prisoners in UAE. In an interview with BBC, Grooverider described his experience as "appalling" and described the conditions in which he was placed.

The Qemists are a drum and bass band from Brighton, United Kingdom signed to Ninja Tune indie record label based in London. The band consists of Dan Arnold, Leon Harris and Liam Black. The Qemists were originally the drummer, bassist and guitarist in a rock band where they spent a lot of time touring UK and Europe as well as spending a lot of time in the studio. During this time in the rock band in the late 1990s, they acquired an interest in drum and bass and some of the group's early efforts started to get airplay. For many years they were performing in the rock band as their day job whilst producing and DJing drum and bass at night, and this conflict of interests lead to the fusion of the two styles to form The Qemists sound that is known today. They had previously worked as live sound engineers for Basement Jaxx, Kano and Lady Sovereign. Their debut release on Ninja Tune was a remix of Coldcut's "Everything Is Under Control" which was supported by Zane Lowe, Coldcut and Pendulum. Their first single "Stompbox" appeared on the movie soundtrack, and in the movie "Jumper". Some singles of the band appeared in many video games. Stompbox appeared in MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, Need for Speed: Undercover and Midnight Club: Los Angeles. Lost Weekend appeared in Colin McRae: Dirt 2, Forza Motorsport 3, MotorStorm: Arctic Edge and Need for Speed: Shift. The year 2009 also saw the release of their debut album "Join The Q" on the Ninja Tune label. In 2009, they supported Enter Shikari on their World Tour, and underwent their own headlining UK Tour. With the bands origins in heavy rock music and their fusion of rock and drum and bass they are often compared to mainstream drum and bass act Pendulum with both artists having similar musical history and styles.

Andy C, real name Andrew Clarke, is a British DJ and producer and co-founder of record label RAM Records. A pioneering Drum and Bass DJ since the genre's emergence in the early '90s, he has consistently been voted World's Greatest Drum and Bass DJ. He specialises in fast mixing, often employing three turntables, and is known for mixing established classics with cutting edge releases. Andy C's record label RAM Records was started with Ant Miles in 1992 and is based in Hornchurch, Essex. Sukh Knight is an asian grime, dubstep & Drum n Bass producer from East London. After being introduced to grime music by Scratcha/DVA, he tried his hand at making grime music flavoured with asian influences. He's a member of the MDK Cartel and has recently linked up with Ges-e, who is giving him a helping hand after hearing some of his dubstep/drum and bass music.

Goldorak & Solpher is an Antwerp based dj duo that have been pushing the sound since day one. Their mutual love for bassheavy music brought them together in 2008. They are at the forefront of the Belgian dubstep scene, known for their residency at Untitled!, one of the biggest dubstep raves in the country. Goldorak & Solpher know how to tear up the dance, combining deep and devasting tracks in combination with their sophisticated mixing skills.

Matrix is een van die levende drum'n'bass legendes. Al jàààren in da game en nog steeds on top of it. In oktober en november verschijnen de 4 Acts Of Mad Men, aangekondigd als een van dé drum'n'bass releases van het jaar. Ook Futurebound draait al jaren mee, hij runt het Viper Recordings label. In 2005 begonnen Matrix en Futurebound samen te werken. Het resultaat was het Universal Truth album: een van de succesvolste drum'n'bass albums aller tijden. Matrix en Futurebound staan in Petrol samen achter de decks... Zet je schrap!

Wat begon als een rockband die na de uren drum'n'bass maakte en draaide, werd The Qemists. In februari verscheen hun album Join The Q, een mengeling van drum'n'bass en rock waar zowel drum'n'bass goeroe Andy C als metalgod Bruce Dickinson van Iron Maiden fan van zijn. Yep, The Qemists zijn een klasse apart!

The DJ, Crossfire started producing music at age of 17. And after a couple of years of complete focus, he finally got some recognition from the infamous Dj Trace. Trace signed his track Hydra (on Spy Technologies LP) for his label. The track Hydra crawled into the playlists of Ed Rush & Optical, Dkay, Black Sun Empire, Paul B, and many others Quickly a release on Ryme Tyme's label followed, with the tunes Hideout & Swordfight. Soon thereafter Trace decided to give Crossfire his own Dsci4, Counterforce & Firebolt, the tune Counterforce also got played out a lot by the ones like: Dj Bailey, Loxy, Ink, Klute, Paul B etc% Bookings came in and the name Crossfire started to ring a bell in the mind of a lot of the tech step lovers. He got booked in Swizz, Austria, Germany (Kings Of The Jungle), Holland, France, Italy, UK, Estonia Although his records were doing well, Crossfire wanted to push the limits a little further, so, he decided to start his own imprint: Crossfire Recording. The Australian fusion band Crossfire was formed by guitarist Jim Kelly, keyboard player keyboardist Michael Kenny, and percussionist Ian Bloxsom. Additional band members included Tony Buchanan (flutes), Don Reid (sax/flutes), Phil Crorgie (bass), Greg Lyon (bass), Doug Gallacher (drums), and Steve Hopes (drums/syncussion). Crossfire toured extensively, including a performance at The Montreaux Jazz Festival in 1982, and recorded seven albums including a live album with U.S. vocalist Michael Franks. Crossfire also performed on collaborative tours with Lee Ritenour, Don Grusin, and Randy Brecker. Crossfire, the Blues band [Northern Ireland] was formed in 2005 by chance meetings. The band collectively have several years experience and include members from BAD ASS BLUES BAND, BLACK CAT BONE, JOHN PLAYER BLUES BAND and the 80's Ska band, THE SELECTER ." Members have also performed (over the years) with James Hunter, Little George Suref, Big Joe Louis, Phil Guy (Buddy's brother),John Mayall, Rico Rodriguez (reggae legend now featured with the Jools Holland band) They have played the Monaghan blues festival , Cork Jazz, Templebar, and Castlebar music festivals as well as the International Rory Gallagher festival, Ballyshannon to name but a few. Crossfire [Ireland] are Des Campbell [Drums&Percussion], Cris Gill [Guitar & Keyboard]& Gary Fleming [Bass&Vocals]. Exist another band called CROSSFIRE formed in Ecuador, their music style is a romatic heavy metal is a perfect mix between great lyrics and excelent heavy metal sound Another Crossfire is Israeli hard rock/glam metal band CROSSFIRE, playing 80s influenced glam metal music, and features guitar virtuoso Gilad Pasternak (Dr. Kasper's Rabbit Show).

Both Ed Rush and Optical are the co-heads of a drum and bass record label called Virus Recordings. Both have earned acclaim separately, with Optical engineering tracks on Goldie and Grooverider's albums and releasing some excellent solo tunes on the likes of Prototype, 31, and Metro. Ed Rush also has countless releases, notably on No U-Turn, where he and Nico first emphasized the dark era of drum and bass with the masterpiece album Torque, and Metalheadz, where he produced such classics as "The Raven" and "Locust". Their 1998 debut album Wormhole is considered a widely respected genre classic. Their second album The Creeps (2000) became reknowned as well. Their third album The Original Doctor Shade (2003) still garners massive applause on dancefloors. In 2004 they released a mix CD release Out of The Box, which captured the insides of their vinyl bags in those days and included a DVD with interviews and videos. In 2005 they released Virus Vaults, a compilation of unreleased tracks, capturing years 1996-2005. In year 2006 they finally released a new album, Chameleon. It used a new concept; they wanted to play the new tracks live. Live performance was something completely new to the whole virus crew. They still headline festivals and events playing solitary or together as DJs. It is commonly said that their best work is done together, although there is a vocal minority of fans who will loudly state that their career took a creative nosedive after Wormhole.

Black Sun Empire is the stage name of a team of Dutch disc jockeys, Drum & Bass (mostly Neurofunk) and Dubstep producers Rene Verdult and brothers Milan Heyboer and Micha Heyboer. Based out of Utrecht, Netherlands, they started making drum and bass in 1995 when they got turned on to the likes of artist such as Photek, LTJ Bukem, and Ed Rush. Before that they were into techno and breaks. After having a few releases on smaller record labels, they managed to get the attention of bigger producers like Trace, currently known for his DSCI4 label. KREWZADER Armed with youthful vigour and a huge amount of love for the music, DJ Krewzader and (MC Mush) made it to international success in no time. In doing so, they have become one of the driving forces behind the Benelux scene, and have steered it boldly where no one had gone before. Krewzader had been mixing for five years when he fell in love with Drum and Bass. Bagging a residency at a club in Ghent when he was seventeen, he then set up two of his own concepts: Boom Biscuits and mentalLAB, with the intention of promoting local and largely forgotten talents. By teaming up with skilled producers such as Crossfire (DSCI4 / Crossfire Recordings), Motion Theory (Signal Recordings), Hydra (Nu Electro) and Saphir (Complex Beatz), he focused the Belgian massives attention on the homegrown whiz kids, as well as turning heads with his own artistry behind the decks. His trademark: dark technoïd sounds together with powerfull and energetic mixes. He is also known for his unique style of selection, but will still make any crowd go wild! Early 2005 he joined forces with Mush, a 21-year-old MC who delivers his lyrics in an entrancingly relaxed flow, crisply contrasting Krewzader's own brand of darker sounds. They connected. So the boys went global and spread the sound to the U.K., the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Germany. With more Uk and Poland on the maps in the future%u2026. Besides spinning, Tom is also involved as a promotor, booking agent and producer. Early 2006, he graduated from the Electric Music Producing course at SAE institute in Rotterdam, Holland, where he is residing for the moment. Later that year, he will start his Audio Engineer diploma at the same institute. Krewzader is currently working in the studio with some well respected Dutch producers. He will also be teaming up with several interantional producers, one of which the mighty Infiltrata (Barcode/Photek) from the US. So we can expect some new developments on the production side of things soon. A lot has happened for this guy in a short amount of time, and he ain't stopping yet... Tito started listening to drum n bass in the year 1999, after his friends convinced him to join a drum n bass party somewhere in Antwerp. That was the day the dnb-virus bit him. Fast and heavy drumlines with a furious bass!
Getting realy interested in this style of music Tito bought his first Technics and mixer and started exploring the world of drum n bass. One year later he had his first bookings and now he plays all over the country and confirmed his first international bookings in France, Austria,Holland and Slovakia..
Titos' style ranges from deep rollers to dark and raw,wobble and jump up, bringing loads of variation in his sets! You can also find him mixing back to back with Echo Virus on regular occasions...
This combination guarantees dancefloor explosions!!

At the end of 2004 Tito teamed up with Echo Virus to organise an event together. This was a big succes so they decided to organise events on a regular basis, Stealth Bombers was born!!
Since 2005 Stealth Bombers is the most succesfull and longest running independant dnb event in Antwerp, which grows bigger with every edition!

Gone from throwing small bashes to rocking every major festival in the country several times over. A fixed guest at national radio Studio Brussel for close to 10 years. Released 'Jungle Fever Vol 1' in Dec '09, which was immediately sold out, and followed up in Dec '10 With 'Jungle Fever Vol 2' to critical acclaim. Launched Radar Records in March '10 with Netsky's 'Your Way'/'Daydreaming' flying off the shelves, followed by Netsky's 'Strobot' remix, backed by KG's 'Seaside' rmx. Look out for the next Radar Remixes by Nymfo and Break coming in June '11.

Hailing from a small town in Belgium, Netsky is one of the most promising upcoming producers of the moment. In the last 4 years involved in music production, he realised that he likes his drum & bass deep and soulful. He is trying to balance the deepness and musicality of his sound with heavy beats and bass to keep the dancefloor alive. With a number of 12's on Hype's Liqweed Ganja and Twisted Individual's Allsorts in the pipeline, he's on the way to be a big name.

THE NITWITS (The Nitrous & I-Witness) are two drum&bass DJs from Leuven (Belgium). They have been DJ'ing since 2003 and as a back2back team, they've been playing regurarly together for 3 years now. I-Witness has won contests like Young Talent Corner and Pioneer Pro DJ Contest and Nitrous was the winner of the 45 toeren contest (Provincie Vlaams-Brabant). Known for their versatile selection (drum&bass, dubstep, breaks, ...) and fast mixing, they manage to fire up the dancefloor any time!

DJ Die, real name Daniel Kausman, was born in north Devon (1972). Throughout the 70's and 80's he attended many U.K festivals with his mother. As a result Die grew up surrounded by music. With early influences such as his father playing guitar, he began a journey into music. From Rock n Roll to Ska, Two Tone to Punk, he ultimately finding a passion for Hip hop. It was around this time he moved to Bristol and took up skateboarding. Here he discovered that Krust and the Fresh Four crew were mixing house, hip hop, rare groove and funk at warehouse parties just down the road from his house.There was a movement starting around the time - there was the Wild Bunch thing, the graffiti thing, the carnival and sound system thing happening up in Bristol.Die got his first taste of musical production around 1988, when he hooked up with Jody Wisternoff, now of Way out West. Together they formed Tru-Funk and produced 4AM, a house tune released on Smith and Mighty's imprint Three Stripe Records. They followed with two hardcore EP's under the name Sub-Love and made numerous DJ appearances at early Universe raves. As Jody's and Dies musical paths split Die started playing at the many free party's happening in the southwest, continuing to make a name for himself as a DJ. In the early 90s a chance meeting with Roni Size on the Gloucester Road in Bristol, led to what would be a long musical relationship. Beginning with their first collaboration, AGILITY on Bryan G and Jumpin Jack Frost's label V Recordings.
