The 7" 45 rpm record was introduced in 1949 by RCA as a smaller, more durable and higher-fidelity replacement for the 78 rpm shellac discs. The first 45 rpm records were monaural, with recordings on both sides of the disc. Ervaren disco veteranen Dr Disco & Louis Katorz worden in de kont geknepen door Sheridan: nog niet geboren in de 1970's maar er sinds de vroege jaren 80 wel hevig naar aan het verlangen. Special old school disco set - tijd voor een 70ties revival!

In de club is het kleiner en vooral warmer. De rokjes zijn korter, alsook de drankjes, de kapsels wilder en de hemden opengeknoopter. Wild wordt u, wanneer onze gogodanseressen in hun zwierige bikinietjes het podium betreden, met in hun zog nog meer lekkers. Dandy Flo, uw gebronsde gastheer voor vanavond, leidt u in bekoring met motown en soul, en hitst u nog harder op voor het moment suprême. Uw burlesque kitten voor vanavond is de rondborstige blondine Cherry Shakewell, recht uit London town met een Goldfinger special. DJ's van dienst zijn DJ Boni en Ungawa, die doorgaan tot ver in de nacht. Miauw!

In de Discoteca Horny Room spelen drie Belgische nu-disco deejays. En Belgisch zijn, is in de nu-disco scene een troef! (Villa, The Magician, Aeroplane, ...). Discoteca residents King DJ en Sheridan verwelkomen deze keer Guy-Ohm. Discoteca: Bring Your Own Body!

Guy-Ohm draait oa in Razzmatazz in Barcelona en in de hotte Brusselse hyper branché Libertine Supersport.

King DJ is al jaren een veelgevraagde klasbak die de laatste tijd ook internationaal scoort met zijn eigen producties en remixes. Zo wordt zijn jongste Martians productie gedraaid door oa Laurent Garnier, Aeroplane, Social Disco Club, Bottin en Horse Meat Disco.

Die andere Discoteca resident Sheridan, werd deze week opgepikt door Switch en speelde oa op 2010's hipste Gentse (nu-)discoconcept Avenue L.

De beruchte Petrolrollercoaster naar Dat Waren Nog Eens Tijden begint aan een nieuwe rit. Aan het stuur: Doctor Disco, The Love Brothers en Don Johsnon.

Doorgaans van Flinke Snor en Old School Rockabilly kledij voorziene gentleman uit het Verenigd Koninkrijk die bijzonder moeilijk te categoriseren is. Van acid tot pop, van balearic tot minimal, van dub tot experimental rock, van Detroit electro tot dirty disco. Enzovoort. Geboren in 1693, pardon: 1963, en nog volop aan het DJ'en, remixen en producen - voor Zichzelf en voor Anderen. Nog 2 Hoofdletters: Grote Meneer.

Andrew Weatherall is a key figure in UK dance culture. He was there at the beginning of UK club culture in the late 80's just as Ecstasy was changing the dancefloors into something more open minded and loved up. He is a founder member of the Boys Own fanzine that documented what was happening then in sarcastic, trenchant terms - contrasting harshly with the sometimes "fluffy" or hippie-ish rhetoric spouted by some caught up in the acid house movement. The Boys Own parties were considered a destination for the smarter set and for musical connoisseurs, unlike the lowest-common-denominator mega-raves which were kicking off at the same time. Weatherall found initial acclaim with an audience outside the dance crowd when he remixed Primal Scream's "I'm Losing More Than I'll Ever Had" into the monster track "Loaded". He has shown a talent for stripping music down to fundamental components and then adding something extra to turn it into something beautiful. His remixes with Primal Scream and production work on "Screamadelica" are breathtaking and so far in advance of the rest of the music industry that he has always been a maverick. His production work with One Dove provided one of the great early post Acid House "chill out" albums in the melancholic "Morning Dove White" and he provided classic remixes for artists from Stereo MCs to James and Happy Mondays. As the 90s progressed and his DJ contemporaries moved into the "superclubs", playing formulaic house and trance, Weatherall always chose to evade easy categorisation, playing sets of anything from heavy dub to pure detroit electro, spurning the huge paychecks of fellow Acid House veterans, but consolidating his reputation as a true music lovers' favourite. His clubs including Sabresonic and Bloodsugar became legendary, and he continued to forge links with musicians both underground and mainstream. Later work - with his bands Sabres of Paradise and Two Lone Swordsmen - has taken in trip hop, dub, techno, funk, electro and even rockabilly and goth rock on the most recent TLS album "The Double Gone Chapel". His latest release - and his first under his own name - "The Bullet Catcher's Apprentice" is a return almost to classic balearic values that he championed over 17 years ago when DJing at the seminal early house nights in London and around the M25. Always innovating and never stopping this man is a modern legend, a raconteur, writer and polemicist as well as DJ and musician, who perhaps hasn't really had the proper attention he deserves - but appears to like it that way. Cedric Marszewski, aka Pilooski, has made a name for himself worldwide thanks to his mastering of the "edit" technique which consists in changing old musical treasures into aphrodisiac and hypnotic dance floor hits. He has the gift for transforming a soul jewel and a disco nugget into psychedelic odyssey, or is it the other way around? Pilooski restores the soulful and experimental side of club music.

Today's electronic dance culture is due for a melodic transcendence from the shadowy, industrial electro that has been hammering away at the scene. As dance floors begin to buckle under such weighty beats, the Belgium-based band aptly named Aeroplane is dedicated to elevating its fans toward a higher musical space undefined by standardized genres. They reach for freedom from constraints of predictability, weaving currents of psychedelic guitars, pop keys, disco beats, catchy bass lines and melancholic waves into a singular connection of modern beat-driven music. At the controls of Aeroplane are Stephen Fasano and Vito Deluca, a duo whose combined experience gives life and emotion to the music. Vito brings with him a producer background that pulsates the hands and heart of Aeroplane, and Stephen's DJ roots vibrate the eyes and soul. Their unique collaboration of sound and purpose is channelling appreciation from among the biggest DJs and producers around, and the 2007 release of their first 12" entitled "Caramellas/Aeroplane" (Eskimo Recordings) has generated a jet stream of increasing momentum. Subsequent releases have kept their ring tones looping with remix requests from artists like Cobra Dukes, Das Pop, Lindström, Cut Copy, Grace Jones, MGMT, Bloc Party, and Friendly Fires. Projects like these reinforce the integration of electronic music into the omnipresent indie scene. Blends of Cosmic Nu Disco, Psychedelic, Balearic, Emo, etc. are forming a new era of musical hybrids, and explorations are officially under way. After all, machines are human too... Aeroplane's orbit originated from an unlikely dot on the globe called Walonie, in the southern French part of Belgium. Stephen's ravenous musical addiction led him to a record pusher named Vito, whose shop became the launch point for their combined vision. As a duo, they fuel up on every ray of light that breaks through their similar backgrounds. Of mutual Italian descent, both were born and raised amid the smoky gray of the industrial Brussels suburbs. Their music dissolves those clouds and celebrates a cosmic hope they've carried with them, each determined to find harmony in life among family, friends and fans. Early 2009 finds Aeroplane somewhere above the clouds, producing their much-anticipated full-length album and, as always, mapping a return to something new.

Padded Cell are Richard Sen and Neil Beatnik. Having won notoriety as a Bronx Dog (Heavenly) and a Dirty Beatnik (Wall of Sound) respectively, Padded Cell came about in 2002, partly as a response to the conservatism of early millennium dance music but also to act as a conduit through which they could conduct and realize their most outlandish ideas.

Candi Staton (born Canzetta Maria Staton on March 13, 1940, in Hanceville, Alabama) is an American gospel singer. She is best known for her disco hit Young Hearts Run Free and dance hit You Got The Love. Staton sang with the Jewell Gospel Trio as a teenager before launching a solo career in 1968. She had 16 R&B hits for Fame Studios and received Grammy nominations for cover versions of country standards. In 1975 she started working with disco producer Dave Crawford and had hits "Young Hearts Run Free" and "Victim". Also, The Mighty Majors ("You Can Never Go Back") was her backup band once on the road. In 1982 she returned to gospel forming Beracah Ministries with her husband John Sussewell. In 1991 she had a top 10 UK hit as The Source featuring Candi Staton with dance track "You Got The Love". In 2004 when Sex and the City ended its successful six-year run, the last song played on that show was "You Got the Love" with Sarah Jessica Parker walking down New York City streets and talking about the endless relationship with herself.

Smos and Baby Bee are a duo who started their DJ career in early '90s, when they were in the small group of DJs who were playing house music on the Belgian music scene. They made their DJ name famous thanks to their funky, uplifting style, which was based on deep vocal house, dubby grooves, percussive rhythms, early UK and US house releases and occasional electrofunk-disco classics. They became residents at Café D'Anvers in 1993, where they also played for Paradise and Natural elements from Patrick Socks and for many other parties which were organized at Café D'Anvers. In 2003 they were celebrating 10 years residency anniversary and you can still hear them playing there every second Saturday in a month, when they perform their famous long sets. Since 1998 until 2001 they were residents at Eskimo parties in Ghent, where they always did their 'trade mark' closing sets in the house room. In 2004 they released a maxi 'Dont stop' for Eskimo recordings under pseudonim Elastix and they also played at many other parties which were organized by Eskimo organization ( Belmondo in SMAK museum in Ghent, Culture club, 69, Diesel U awards . . . ). Between January 2001 and October 2003 they were residents in Motion room ( house room ) in Fuse club in Brussels. From October 2003 until September 2004 they played as residents for concept 'Colors', in Tijuana in Ghent and they also played regular gigs in Le Club in Lille ( France ). They played on many occasions in all good Belgian house clubs and many times abroad and they shared the decks with plenty of famous international DJ stars ( Kenny Hawkes, Silicone soul, Mark Farina, D'Julz, Freeform Five, Derrick Carter, Luke Solomon, Carl Craig, Jack de Marseille, Jeff K, Serge Santiago, Tiefschwarz . . . ). Every summer they've been also invited to play at some of the biggest open air festivals in Belgium. Baby Bee has been announced 'DJ of the month' in British I-D magazine from July 1999. They've been voted as the best Belgian DJs at 'Ticket nightlife awards 2001' and in 2003 as 'the best national house DJs' at Belgian dance culture website 'Partyguide'. They are currently the residents at 'Make up' club in Ghent, which is one of the recent projects from the Eskimo crew. The music policy is 'eclectic choice and space disco with soulful surprises' and so far they shared the decks with DJs like Baldelli, Prinz Thomas, Mark 7 and Aeroplane and Fredo and Thang. They also play as resident DJs at café Capital in Antwerp, where the music policy is also more eclectic and variable choice of dancing tunes. You can hear them there every third Saturday in a month, when they spin together with DJs like I-cube, Idjut boys, Jimpster, Dixon ... A new release on the "Eighttrack Recordings" label will be out very soon ( May / June 2008 ). This will be under our new moniker 'SMOBEE' and includes a moster remix by none less then Nick Chacona. You can already check the tracks on "www.myspace.com/smosandbabybee". So, keep to the beat and get your hands on a copy of "Eighttrack 014"!

This New Jersey native was initially inspired by England's take on the sound of Detroit, but eventually tracked techno back to its Motor City innovators. When he began listening to music, however, it was the sound of early-'80s synth heroes like Devo, Severed Heads and New Order alongside early hiphop, jazz and 60's Hindi film soundtracks. Geist released his first 12" (via Dan Curtin's innovative Metamorphic label) while studying at Oberlin College in 1994. He formed Environ soon after, releasing powerful statements of purpose which showed his affinity for the more emotive strains of disco, techno, soul and all flavors in between.

MUNK is the band of Italo-German DJ and musician MATHIAS MODICA. Besides doing hs own music Mathias also runs the GOMMA label. MUNK have released 2 albums: The first one (Aperitivo 2005) included the indie disco hymn "Kick out the chairs" featuring JAMES MURPHY of DFA/ LCD Soundsystem and Micky Moonlight aka Midnight Mike. The new album CLOUBUSTER (2008) includes the hit single LIFE FAST DIE OLD! featuring ASIA ARGENTO (italian actress - known from Sofia Coppolas film Marie Antoinette). The Cloudbuster album got massive feedback. Londons NME called it : "...effordlessly cool...like a German version of DFA..."

Tinez is a Belgian dj, mainly into electronic/cosmic/leftfield disco and electro and the best the eighties had to offer. He digs back to soul and other great longforgotten tunes. He has a thing for exotic cars, was one of the founders of dOZER and AtoZ, some years back.

Also, he does lots of state of the art graphic work for labels, events and musicians.

Bottin (Guglielmo Bottin, 1977) is producer, dj and sound designer based in Venice, Italy Take a youth spent against a background of old Italian Giallo soundtracks, some also John Carpenter's film music, add in late 70s Italian disco influences, a touch of free and easy west-coast vibe and a smattering of kitsch. That just about half describes Bottin.

I was your host in clubs from the mid seventies at the age of 16. Starting with punk, old school rap and disco, I switched to Acid house playing it on Radio Centraal 107.6. I'm still searching the shops and the net for easy tunes, french pop, reggae, latin hiphop and Mash-ups. Playing records for more than 30 years in clubs, bars, parties, weddings, funerals, raves and open air festivals, I love sharing music from friends in Myspace. Feel free to listen to the weekly Radio show on Radio Centraal 107.6 on sundays 12-02PM when you're in Antwerp. And don't forget, I'm still spinning the wheels with humour on the places you like to visit (a rare combination in clubs).

Making his hand-picked musical bouquet from all kinds of disco, pop edits, mean analogue house and horny oldies, Sheridan has been playing with the consiglieri of the Belgian Disco Mafia over the last 4 years: Aeroplane, Moonlight Matters, Villa, Mickey, Mustang, Guy-Ohm, King DJ, Guy-Ohm, ...
Deejaying for more than 10 years now and having played on various occasions and for quite some heterogeneous crowds, he's always been into different genres. So it shows, so it sounds.

Being the co-host and resident of the Ghent based Durch Die Nacht concept and the Discoteca nights in Disco Diamond City Antwerp (Petrol Club), he got to deejay on nights with established and hot new international artists like Bottin, Stevie Kotey, Fenech-Soler, Loud-E, My Cousin Roy and Skye (Morcheeba).

Sheridan was invited to play at the acclaimed Avenue L nights in Ghent (with Villa and Mylo) and has played in the re-opened Club 69 in Ghent. On the opening night of the F/S/A/R pop-up concept in Antwerp, it was Sheridan playing his music.

In 2011, he continued playing with all the new hotness in new disco clubland and topped his year with a spot on the amazing line-up of the 10 Days Off festival. Sheridan played as very last dj on the closing night of the festival's 17th edition, a night featuring Moodymann and Floating Points.
