Senotorik

Ian Pooley

Ian Pooley
German techno/house musician Ian Pooley (real name Ian Pinnekamp) debuted as half of T'N'I, a duo with dj Thomas "Tonka" Gerlach that released the EP Low Mass (Force Inc, 1991). The two morphed into Space Cube and eventually parted ways. His early singles were collected on the first full-length under his own name, The Times (Force Inc, 1996). Meridian (V2, 1998) was substantially different from the "hard" style that had made his fortune, incorporating elements of pop, disco, soul and even jazz. Since Then (V2, 2000) turned to samba and bossanova to create a Brazilian saudade-like atmosphere in the dancefloor. Souvenirs (Ministry of Sound, 2004) is bolder but also a bit outdated in its resurrection of disco motifs. Hmm.... Ian's just one of the best deep house DJs around. His tune selection is just awesome - he's just got it nailed on the beaty but mellow into sexy house tip. His remixes are all phat and you only need to listen to 1 or 2 of his 2007-9 dj mixes to see where he goes over an hour to 90 minutes. I still like the noel nanton remix, but i'm old and boring :) Wish he played a bit more in the UK, but he's pretty much the first DJ I lturn to for quality modern deep house. Lovin' it, good times dude :)

moodymann

moodymann
Moodymann is the moniker under which Kenny Dixon Jr produces and DJs. He is a techno/house musician based in Detroit. He has created a thoroughly hybrid form of techno/house dance music via his innovative use of reworked riffs, samples and grooves taken from that city's historically influential jazz, soul, funk and disco scene. Some call it cut-up Detroit house. He offers a friendly wink backwards at the innovative early 1990s rave scene musicians through his extensive use of old movie sound track samples, mainly culled from the old blaxploitation and b-movie genres. He has been known to DJ behind a screen. He is one of the 3 Chairs. Dave Angel

Dave Angel
Born in Chelsea, the son of a Jazz musician, Dave Angel's first musical instrument (appropriately) was a drum at the noisy age of eight. Not one for conforming, even at the early age, Angel spent little time in school, preferring truancy to chemistry and the music room to the classroom. 1988 and the explosion of acid house in London and the rest of the country seemed to be the major break for Angel, who at the time was pioneering this unbelievable new sound on radio Phaze One. A well known pirate radio station in the capital. The technological explosion which was to rock pre conceived musical conceptions established the young DJ who found himself proclaimed as One of the major techno talents in Britain.(Echoes March 1992). DJing formed a natural progression into the recording process and two weeks recording at home with two basic turntables and two tape decks and a child Casio keyboard (yes a child's!!) in 1989 bore the fruits of his first musical excursion a remix of The Eurhythmics Sweet Dreams somewhat controversial but eminently successful. Angel's reworking of the track created such a massive buzz in the clubs that RCA were forced to officially release the track and incredibly it charted and climbed to No 23 in the UK National Charts first time round. Since this initial success Dave has not lost his drive to create music which continues to be regarded as some of the bravest and influential dance music this country produces. Heavily influenced by the Detroit sound he has subsequently released singles and Ep's of astonishing quality for Polydor/Love, OuterRythum, Fnac, Island, R S, Outrage and Apollo imprints, all of which have sold well and received a barrage of critical acclaim. Dave was also solely responsible for the Classic Sea's Of Tranquillity EP which was hailed as a landmark release by the Techno intelligence. Notable remixes include work for such luminaries as Orbital, Sun Electric, Carl Cox, Robert Armani, Juan Atkins, Spooky, James, 4hero, Roni Size, Underworld. The list goes on and on...

K-Dust

K-Dust
Everybody has his sins of youth, and so K-Dust started spinning at the age of 16 at parties of the local sportclubs and other strange societies. But because of this experiences he developed a broad knowledge of different styles of music. A few years later he could not longer hide his love for electronic music. At that point he had his first modest gigs. Because things went to slow in his opinion he started organising his own parties with some friends (like dj Daemon). The concept Cruisin Beats was born and still well known in the area. His style depends on the setting and his mood and flows from very deep house to pumping techno, but always filled with trippy soundscapes and with an always ongoing groove. He played together with Ben Long, Space dj's, Big Hair, Michel De Hey, Trish Van Eynde, Fabrice Lig, Tomaz, Laidback Luke (in his pre-commercial days), Darren Roach, Jack de Marseille, St-Dic, Smos & Baby B, Koenie, Les Craven, Prinz, After a few calm years he's back with a new concept: Future Past. At this super-deluxe-great party he will invite one of his influences of the past. Two conditions: it has to be a long time ago they played in Belgium and they still experience music in an inventive way.

KING DJ

KING DJ
King DJ is one of the most upcoming names in the exploding international "nu-disco" underground downtempo scene.
With releases for Bearfunk and Tirk's sisterlabel Nang, and his own label Regalia Recordings running strong, there's no denying the man's influence as frontrunner for a more relaxed style of clubbing. It's clearly noticable he's got more than 20 years of dj-experience under his belt under a vast gamma of alter ego's, of which 4T4 might well be the best known. In Belgium, he's played everywhere from Pukkelpop to Tomorrowland, from his many years as Charlatan resident to Culture Club and 10 Days Off, and the man's never been known to shun eclectic sets in pubs and at rock festivals like Rock Werchter or Marktrock. Just as long as there's room for good vibes and a bit of fun and laughter you can pretty much assume the King might well be close-by. No-one can quite tap into the vibe of the moment like he can, with music from all era's in his sets. No need for requests here.
Mario, main bouncer in Charlatan (RIP!), once said: "We're always happy when King DJ's playing, because we know there won't be any fighting". That says it all. There are worse things that can be said about a dj...
As a producer the King's lately been working with the likes of Bottin, Stevie Kotey and The Glimmers amongst many others (with some more very cool stuff coming soon!!!), and he's got a new project with DJ Bobby Ewing called Martians. His "Attack of the Killer Monks" E.P. on Bearfunk is a genuine underground hit with support from Laurent Garnier, Serge Santiago, Cosmo Vitelli, Horse Meat Disco, Emperor Machine, Justus Köhncke, Groove Armada, Social Disco Club and many others.
No doubt we haven't heard the last of him by a long shot, keep watching the skies...
