Biografie
Although these days they enjoy success separately, a few year ago Sanaki & Ishtar were the Trish & Kash of the progressive scene. As a B-day-present to Tox they will play together once more, so expect something special.
Ishtar is Thomas Van Laecke, born in 1983. He started his career as a resident dj for Purple Snow and played beside all major players in the underground progressive scene such as Son Kite (aka Minilogue), Liquid Soul, Ticon and many more.
Nowadays he's focussing more on the techno, minimal side of electronic music and switched to a more clubby level. Under the guise of 'Lawnmowers', he and a couple of friends are responsible for bringing acts like Fiord and Antix to Belgium.
Playing regularly at festivals and parties all around our little country, you're bound to cross his path. With a very solid mix in his fingers and a tight-ass track-selection, he's sure to please your ears!
As a small boy Sanaki got to know electronic music on his small transistor radio. In that period New Beat and Acid House was booming on (illegal) radio stations in Belgium. A little older he was touched by Warp artist like Autechre and Aphex Twin. In 1996 friends took him to the infamous house club Café d' Anvers, and that is where he fell in love with electronic music. And when he discovered PsychedelicTrance in 1997 he couldn't resist as well.
After home DJ'ing for many years from 2000 till 2004 he sold all is equipment, but the pain was great. In 2005 Sanaki started playing again, this time with the intention of pleasing crowds with infectious beats, and he also started organizing parties under the name Marvelously Groovy. After a succesfull first edition things took off, and he played regurarly in Belgium. With his wide background of electronic music Sanaki's sets are filled up with Groovy tunes, from progressive house to techno and progressive trance.
